0:00 I'm not going to sugarcoat this every Chinese GoPro wannabe makes these
0:06 unbelievable claims about great full HD or even 4K video recording for 60 bucks
0:12 or whatever but every single one of them that I have ever touched has been
0:18 obviously converting the data from some horrendous
0:23 640x480 sensor if you're lucky not to
0:26 mention that many of them have a completely unusable UI
0:30 so to call my expectations going into
0:33 this review of the ye action camera 2
0:37 low would be very generous so then to
0:41 say that I was blown away would be an
0:54 understatement cooler Masters masterc case maker 5 features their free form
0:59 modular system allowing you to customize adjust and upgrade make it yours through
1:04 the link in the video description let's start with the basics I've got the
1:09 selfie stick kit which includes the E2 camera as I'll be referring to it for
1:13 the rest of the video a battery a kind of cheap feeling clip-on plastic shutter
1:18 button and a surprisingly robust selfie
1:21 stick with a locking telescopic well I
1:25 guess it's a stick terminated with a quarin threaded post and a Smartphone
1:29 holder bracket that screws onto the one side down here at the bottom it's not
1:35 perfect by reversing the gender of the threading or including an adapter it
1:40 could have been used to put a phone at the end of the stick when you are not
1:44 using the E2 and the top swivel could be
1:47 a bit more flexible which would both be welcome improvements to its General
1:50 usefulness but I can't fault the selfie sticks build quality overall which
1:55 brings us to the camera itself it's pretty plasticky feeling another or two
2:00 would Inspire more confidence in this product but hey as long as she's got it
2:04 where it counts right at the bottom is the battery and Micro SDXC compartment
2:09 along with the female quarin Mount at the front is the f2.8 7 element 155°
2:16 wide-angle lens covering a Sony IMX 377
2:19 12.35 megapixel effective seos image sensor capable of 4K video or 12 megapix
2:26 Stills along with a status indicator light on on the side is a micro USB
2:31 charging port on the top are the Dual
2:34 microphone ports and a speaker Grill
2:38 wait a minute why would it need a speaker ah yes because on the back the
2:43 entire back of the unit is taken up by a
2:46 640x 360 pixel wide format
2:51 touchscreen and if you've ever had a major video project riding on correctly
2:55 framing a shot with a GoPro Hero 4 black
2:58 you will surely appreciate apprciate this inclusion and the implementation
3:02 isn't halfast either the viewfinder is
3:05 butter smooth and so is the menu navigation so whether you're changing
3:09 settings or reviewing a clip you just shot all of which is doable over Wi-Fi
3:14 with the GoPro app by the way eliminating this step especially with a
3:19 multicam setup where things can get jostled mid shoot like we frequently
3:23 find ourselves in a lot of time and
3:26 guesswork can be saved and the E2
3:29 actually supports changing all those settings and previewing your shot live
3:33 through their mostly stable app on your phone if you prefer that approach as
3:37 well though none of that would be valuable if the shots from your
3:41 perfectly positioned camera looked like trash would it so let's have a look at
3:46 some 4K 30fps footage first compared to
3:50 the only camera from GoPros lineup that also shoots at that resolution the Hero
3:55 4 black so overall whether we're talking
3:58 about low light Performance Auto whitee balance scene brightness change response
4:04 or really anything else I was really
4:07 impressed by this little camera and that's without having access to some of
4:12 the modes that only work at lower resolutions the Sixaxis electronic image
4:17 stabilization that only works if you're shooting at resolutions below 4K and no
4:22 higher than 60 frames per second is freaking cool and probably worth it for
4:28 some people to drop all the way down to 1080p in order to take advantage of it
4:33 though on that subject I really wish that 2560 by 1440 was a shooting option
4:39 since it would be a balance between having some sensor left to enable
4:43 anti-shake and also having the ability to crop and punch in your footage though
4:48 I'm not going to deduct too many marks for this given how impressive this
4:52 camera is at half of what we paid for the action cams that we use for most of
4:56 our projects with the biggest shocker yet to come the battery life we are used
5:02 to taking a case load of replacement batteries on any GoPro shoot and
5:07 switching over to a fleet of e2s would cut in half the frequency with which we
5:13 need to replace them with sound quality being yet another strong point I mean
5:18 sure it's not perfect it's not as good as a lav mic or a boom mic but when
5:22 you're speaking directly into the camera from selfie distance even with a fair
5:27 amount of background noise it's a fast and easy way to get surprisingly usable
5:31 audio so I'm in China courtesy of ZTE
5:35 ZTE can never keep track of what the Canadian way is check out this hotel
5:40 room all right press conference is over
5:44 so it's time to uh join back up with Brandon and see where he's at on b-roll
5:48 for the C camera with the camera as long
5:51 as you're not using the waterproof case though I've yet to find any action cam
5:56 that has really solved that problem on
5:59 that note their 40m polycarbonate and glass waterproof housing is not included
6:04 with the kit we got but while I don't have pricing for it yet based on the
6:08 last generation ye camera it should land in the $10 to $30 range it doesn't allow
6:14 the use of the touchcreen obviously but the top button lets you do all of the
6:18 essentials power start stop record and
6:21 power off and this is great it uses a
6:24 GoPro compatible mounting system which I
6:28 guess leads us right into the usual issue with any action cam that isn't a
6:34 GoPro the relatively immature accessory
6:38 ecosystem now some stuff that's not
6:41 available for the E2 can be ignored the waterproof case accessory makes it
6:45 compatible with many GoPro mounts including head chest and even scuba suit
6:50 Etc but the first- party one anyway
6:53 lacks a more acoustically friendly backing for audio recording while using
6:58 those GoPro accessories and I also don't see an obvious solution for non-
7:02 mounting related accessories like external battery chargers nothing seems
7:07 to be available at this time meaning that you will need to charge your
7:10 batteries in your camera which is fine for casual users but Pros are going to
7:14 want something a little bit beefier so they can charge more of them at a time
7:18 however if that drawback in your mind is easily overcome by the price the screen
7:25 the footage quality and that quarter inch Mount I won't entirely disagree
7:30 with you of course it remains to be seen if GoPro will come storming back with
7:34 the Hero 5 lineup later this year in the meantime though I'll be watching the E2
7:39 very very closely tunnel bear is the
7:43 simple VPN app that makes it easy to browse the web privately and enjoy well
7:48 a more open internet and the best part
7:51 about it is that it is easy to use and free for your first 500 Megs of data but
7:57 what does it do exactly well when you hit the button that turns tunnel bear on
8:01 two things happen number one is that your connection gets encrypted with AES
8:06 256bit encryption and number two is that
8:09 based on whatever you selected in a drop- down up to 20 different countries
8:14 you will appear to the websites and web services that you use as though you are
8:19 browsing from that other country so you
8:22 could be from the UK or America or
8:25 whatever the case may be now if you try
