here we are in the lab again this is the NC PC 4050 so this is the performance
0:08
package here now the performance package has a couple of differences over the
0:11
base package for one thing it takes the 6850 that comes in the base package and
0:16
upgrades it to a 6870 it takes the 1055t
0:20
6 core processor and upgrades it to a
0:23
1090t it takes the OEM style memory
0:26
without heat spreaders and fanciness and it adds well heat spreaders and
0:31
fanciness so that's pretty cool and it also bumps up the power supply to a seic
0:37
620 watt power supply which is extremely quiet extremely high quality and just
0:41
generally extreme comes with good sleeving and all of that good stuff so
0:46
what the NC PC Facebook guy as you may
0:51
or may not know him I actually have no idea what Alias he uses but he's the one
0:54
who does a lot of the work on our system prototyping and uh evaluation so he's
0:59
got me running the crisis Benchmark here what he wanted me to point out about
1:02
this particular system is that here I'm going to go ahead and quit this so we
1:07
had that running it's a crisis Benchmark with the
1:10
latest uh with the latest Patches he wanted me to show you with Forex
1:15
anti-aliasing all details maxed this
1:18
system at this price point is actually able to achieve average frames per
1:23
second of over 30 FPS but that's not really the most impressive part the most
1:28
impressive part is that the minimum minimum frames per second is actually 25
1:32
FPS so if you check out some of the videos on my blog about the 6870 I
1:36
actually did a performance review and I
1:39
apologize but my graphs did not include minimum FPS for all of the benchmarks I
1:44
ran but they probably should have because the average FPS for the 6870
1:49
looks very competitive but when you bear in mind that when you get into a very
1:53
crowded area or anything bad happens in
1:56
general the frame rate tends to dip well really that's your performance
2:00
bottleneck in terms of your frame rate so if you have a card that runs at
2:05
average 30 frames per second and another card that runs at average 30 frames per
2:09
second but this one only dips as low as 28 and the other one dips to 10 when
2:14
things get crowded well it's pretty obvious which one's a better card so
2:17
that means that even though you can say average FPS 30 isn't good enough if it
2:22
only dips to 25 in the most intense parts that's pretty darn good he also
2:27
ran vantage with a couple different configs I think but this is the one for
2:31
the 6870 single card so it scores a performance score of about
2:36
153,000 and we'll do a separate video Once he's actually got it installed this
2:40
particular system is going to feature the half 922 case so it should look
2:45
pretty sweet once it's installed in there we've got missuse motherboard so
2:49
you've got the cool design elements on all of the mosfet coolers all of that
2:53
good stuff very stylish looking as well as the 6870 it's they're all reference
2:57
cards right now so no matter which 687 7 you get it's going to look like this and
3:01
personally I think the reference cooler looks pretty sweet don't forget to
3:05
subscribe to Linus Tech tips and uh don't forget to check out the NCC
3:09
Facebook page create more characters we can totally create more characters so
3:15
henceforth the guy holding the camera I can tell you this is not actually
3:20
cameraman that's not cameraman this is our NCI PC guy and uh
3:25
he's not in front of the camera so he gets to be whatever I decide to call him
3:30
so henceforth his nickname will be crazy Russian crazy Russian has reminded me
3:35
that the performance Edition also includes a wd caviar black hard drive
3:40
with 64 Megs of cash while as uh whereas
3:44
the basic Edition does not include a black series hard
3:47
drive
