0:00 today we're going to be doing a quick unboxing of the Phenom 2 X6 1100t so
0:06 this is a multi-core processor as you may or may not have figured out by now
0:10 it is also a Phenom 2 as you may or may not have figured out by now this is a
0:15 black edition processor which means that you have full control over the CPU
0:19 multiplier now that's actually uh it
0:22 even means a little bit it means something a little bit
0:27 different than it even used to because it used to be
0:30 the Black Edition meant you had one multiplier to uh either turn up or turn
0:35 down according to your will so it meant okay well you don't have to fuss around
0:40 with uh with adjusting the the uh the ratio
0:44 of the actual bus speed itself you can just turn up the multi there's your
0:48 overclock turn up the voltage you're done well now with the turbo processor
0:53 so that is all of the six cores from AMD right now that have a t at the end of
0:58 the part number have a feature that allows them to scale up the frequency
1:04 when you're running three cores or less
1:08 so this processor although it says 3.3 GHz and that's your stock multiplier
1:12 also runs at 3.7 GHz when you're running
1:16 with three active processing threads or less so you can not only adjust the
1:22 stock multiplier but you can also adjust
1:25 the turbo multiplier so you can make it so okay let's say you've decided you
1:28 know oh I want you know what I'm going to leave my stock speed when I'm running
1:31 like heavily multi-threaded stuff at 3.3 GHz so that I don't get more power
1:36 consumption or so whatever your reasoning is but I'm going to turn my
1:39 Turbo up to 4 GHz so that when I'm running games for example which only use
1:44 a few processor course I can really get the most out of my CPU so that's a cool
1:48 feature all right here is the processor itself this is an am3 processor which
1:52 means it fits in an am3 socket as well as an am2 plus socket and it is fully
1:57 compatible with DDR3 as well as ddr2 to memory so AMD is the only processor
2:02 mainstream processor company these days that is actually still producing chips
2:07 that are compatible with ddr2 on the
2:10 highend this is a six core processor that you can actually plunk into your
2:14 old ddr2 board with your ddr2 RAM as long as your board supports it we also
2:19 get a case badge sticker we get a little uh warranty certificate of authenticity
2:24 installation guide thing it folds out to about the size of like a wall poster so
2:29 I'm not going to open it right now and then we also have an included stock heat
2:33 SN so their stock heat sink hasn't changed much since the days of socket
2:37 939 we've got what appears to be a 60 mm
2:40 fan it is manufactured by AVC it uses a
2:43 four pin pwm fan header and here's a little tip for you guys if you want it
2:48 to look tidier in your case twist it up
2:51 like this that way instead of being like a
2:55 total mess when you plug it into your uh into your fan header and like looking
2:59 like this you can actually have it just all sort of come together like that and then you
3:06 can plug it in somewhere and then kind of twist it up like that so it's sort of
3:11 more uniform anyway it has four heat pipes two of them go one way two of them
3:17 go the other way you've got a pre-applied thermal pad and the thermal
3:20 pad that comes on stock uh heat sinks from actually both major CPU companies
3:25 these days are pretty darn good so you don't really need to replace it unless
3:28 you really want to and your standard AMD
3:31 mounting mechanism thank you for checking out my unboxing of the Phenom
3:36 2x6 1100t also don't forget to check out
3:39 my build guide featuring this processor in AMD's best of the best machine which
3:44 happens to be sitting over in that room right now you can sort of see it anyway
3:49 check it out on my ncixcom channnel as
3:52 well as my uh my vision system overview where I show some benchmarks from this
3:56 particular processor against its competition don't forget to subscribe to
4:00 lus Tech tips and thank you for watching
