0:00 so today I'll be doing a quick unboxing of the unitech USB 3.0 to SATA adapter
0:06 it is super speed USB which means it's up to 10 times the performance versus
0:09 USB 2 and that means up to 180 megabytes
0:13 per second it is
0:16 um H let's just flip it over and talk
0:19 about the specs a little bit these are really useful and the reason these are
0:23 useful is because if you ever need to get data off a drive or if you ever need
0:27 to use a hard drive without actually like hooking it up properly to your
0:31 system these things can be a lifesaver and I'm at a loss right now for what
0:36 they're actually called normally I would know but basically it's just a little
0:40 adapter piece that I'm going to wait till I'm done cutting
0:45 this okay so it's a little adapter piece that you can actually just plug directly
0:50 into the back of a drive any Drive including a 2 and 1 half in hard drive 3
0:54 and 1/2 in hard drive uh SSD drive
0:58 anything you want and then you it has a little chipset inside that adapts the
1:03 data signal to something that can be used by a USB port typically now this
1:07 one is cool okay because it is USB 3.0 so the
1:15 big Advantage is that you can actually access your your internal hard drive if
1:20 you need to uh if you're a technician say for example and you carry around a
1:23 drive with all of your uh with a bunch of programs and a bunch of applications
1:27 utilities all that kind of stuff you can just plug it right into this plug it
1:31 into the uh customer system you don't actually have to have an enclosure so if
1:35 you're testing hard drives this is a great way to do it and with USB 3.0 you
1:39 can actually use the entire speed of a hard drive and actually almost the
1:44 maximum of an SSD through a USB style
1:47 connection rather than having to plug it in internally so you can see it's got a
1:51 little power LED here it has its a super
1:54 speed USB certified logo here it is SATA
1:58 2 or rather hold on let's see if it's SATA or SATA 2 because that makes a big
2:03 difference let me see huh it doesn't say
2:07 you know what though I'll be doing a uh I'll be doing a quick test on this oh oh
2:10 there we go there we go yeah SATA gen 2i 3 gabit per second so it is SATA 2 ready
2:15 as well as supporting USB 2 USB 3 and oh
2:20 supports 2 terab over hard drive so they're using a very modern chipset to
2:25 uh to adapt the USB 3.0 data to the SATA 2 data and then it also comes with a
2:30 power adapter and yeah the power adapter
2:33 plugs in here and I'm actually going to find out I will do a quick test on this
2:37 thing just to show you how fast it goes compared to having the drive plugged in
2:40 internally and I also want to find out if you can actually power a 2 and 1/2 in
2:44 drive directly from the USB 3.0 Port because USB 3.0 actually provides more
2:50 power over the port than USB 2.0 did and
2:53 then you also have the uh the optional power adapter is included just in case
2:57 you do need more power so this has
3:00 gotten kind of rambly but I'm sure that you can imagine all of the different
3:04 applications that there would be for a device like this
3:07 and I mean basically I just wanted one so I'm unboxing it because it's useful
3:14 that's it
