0:07 welcome to an unboxing of a product that's actually phenomenally useful and
0:11 popular but maybe not as glamorous as like you know the latest new video card
0:16 or you know CPU or whatever else this is the black blackx
0:22 black I don't know this is the thermal T
0:25 this 5G it's a hard drive docking station supporting 2.5 in and 3 .5 in
0:30 SATA hard drives SATA up to SATA 3.0
0:33 that's SATA 3 6 GB per second with full
0:36 support for USB 3 super speed it carries a three-year warranty and allows you to
0:41 conveniently transfer large documents pictures or movies between hard drives and computers hard drive not included
0:46 moving along we've got a bunch of other stuff which I don't think is really that
0:50 interesting and then over here we've got a bunch of other stuff about how it's backwards compatible comes with a
0:54 premium shielded usb3 cable supports hard drives up to two up to two
0:58 terabytes I don't know if that's going to fly
1:02 thermal T although we have some 3 terabyte drives coming that we can uh we
1:06 can check out soon and maybe it's just one of those things where when the packaging was done like 2 terab drives
1:11 were as big as they got you run into that a lot actually with Nas's where
1:15 they'll say supports up to 12 terab of
1:18 storage when the reality of it is it was just because there wasn't anything
1:22 bigger than you know a 3 TB drive when that Nas was um originally
1:28 created and something else will work just fine so you actually get a fair
1:32 amount of stuff oh this is cool check this out let's find an SSD to like put
1:36 it in that's like so balling out so you can
1:43 be all like oh it's smart look at this okay so there's ventilation holes on the
1:47 back and then there's a label reader on the front and when you have a hard drive
1:51 as opposed to an SSD the label positioning will be somewhat more
1:56 favorable aha here we go let's do a hard drive instead of an
2:01 SSD okay so you'll be able to see valuable
2:06 information like the capacity bam just
2:09 like that okay so it comes one of those
2:12 for a 2 and 1/2 in and it's also Rubber and like you know shock resistant not
2:16 that I'm going to slam the drive too hard on the table there the SSD shock
2:19 resistant and uh comes with a sleeve for a 3 and half inch Drive which also
2:23 doubles as an oven mitt please do not use this item as an
2:27 oven mitt you know disclaimer voice right um comes with a USB
2:32 A2B cable that's a USB 31 so you can see
2:35 the extra pins there and the extra pins deeper inside there comes with a power
2:40 adapter doesn't come with an SSD or a hard drive according to the Box product
2:44 warranty policy okay cool um
2:47 instructions which is basically like connect the things and then plug the
2:51 thing in and then like creating a partition okay and the black unit itself
2:59 so so the reason we have one of these is because we have an upcoming video about
3:04 uasp so I don't know if you guys remember this but ASUS current
3:08 generation motherboard support uasp which is an accelerated method of usb3
3:13 transfer so it's a different protocol than the standard usb3 protocol that
3:17 allows it to be faster so we're going to
3:20 take a high-end SSD we're going to plug it into this enclosure which uses U USB
3:25 3 over uasp and we're going to see just
3:29 how much faster uasp is than the standard usb3 transfer rates so we're
3:33 going to use the same ASUS motherboard to test both transfer speeds and we are
3:37 going to just turn uasp on and off in AI
3:41 Suite in order to find the difference so
3:44 the unit itself is pretty straightforward there's a like power button it's a toggle switch so you can
3:49 conveniently easily tell if it's on or off there's this guy which basically is
3:53 just allowing you to easily position a 2 and 1/2 in drive or you can take that
3:59 out and I don't think I have any hard drives lying around actually I've gone
4:03 almost completely SSD in like every part
4:07 of my life so I I no longer um yeah I no
4:10 longer believe in like 3 and a half inch hard drives so
4:13 uh there you go but if you had a hard drive you would be able to plug it in
4:18 here I think that pretty much covers it thank you for checking out my unboxing
4:21 and first look at the black X 5G maybe someone can correct me on how to say
4:26 that I mean you guys do love correcting me when I'm saying things whether it's
4:29 Pro cess or ASUS incidentally both of which are correct especially ASUS but uh
4:34 don't forget to subscribe to L Tech tips for more unboxings reviews and other computer videos so slick was like oh I
4:39 don't see the point of those rubber things cuz anyone clumsy enough to you know bump their drive against something
4:44 probably wouldn't bother to like put this thing on in the first place so this
4:48 is just a warning out there for everyone if you need to keep your data practice
4:53 safe data storage use rubbers
