0:00 thanks to synergy for sponsoring this video from ces 2018 synergy 2 is the
0:04 easier way to connect one keyboard and mouse to multiple computers check it out
0:08 at the link below so we're here in the NVIDIA suite where
0:12 they are showing off the world's first big
0:17 big format sorry excuse me big format display they're bringing big screen
0:21 gaming to the pc now gaming monitors
0:24 that are big have already existed for quite some time and there are even pc
0:28 monitors that are as large as 42 inches
0:31 though it should be noted that there are only a few outliers that you could
0:35 really consider to be gaming monitors that are 30 inches or above well that
0:41 all changes today the 65-inch monstrosity behind me checks off
0:46 a ton of the boxes from our video earlier this
0:51 year where we designed our ideal gaming tv
0:54 so it's got really low latency like super low like a monitor it's got
1:00 DisplayPort and HDMI input just like a monitor it's got a
1:04 120 hertz max refresh rate just like a
1:07 monitor and like a high-end gaming monitor it
1:11 supports variable refresh rate with NVIDIA's g-sync technology so they're
1:16 announcing three different models but all of them are using a va panel from au
1:20 optronics with quantum dot film for dci
1:23 p3 color support and nice deep black
1:26 levels they're also using a full array backlight solution with local dimming in
1:32 order to achieve 1000 nitpeak brightness with the ability to support HDR now they
1:37 haven't announced plans for dolby vision at this time but it should be noted that
1:41 most games maybe there's an exception or two you guys can leave a comment if you
1:44 can think of anything but most games are supporting HDR through HDR 10 anyway
1:50 let's talk results now they haven't announced how many local dimming zones
1:54 these tvs have but if i had to guess i'd say it's probably similar to the 4k high
1:59 refresh rate monitors that they talked about at ces
2:02 last year so more than tens but probably not you know
2:08 over a thousand something along those lines and in terms of results well local
2:12 dimming is still not OLED so
2:17 that's the thing you can see blooms around bright objects in very dark
2:22 scenes from time to time and it was especially noticeable in menus or if you
2:26 have a bright moving light moving around your character like let's say like a
2:30 navi type assistant but if that's the case you've probably got more annoying
2:34 things in your life and in general in fast-paced situations we didn't really
2:38 notice it while gaming now let's take a look at the back of acer's prototype
2:43 here these are absolutely
2:46 prototypes so i guess the other thing to consider is that you got to give them
2:50 some time to improve it so they're announcing three partners acer ASUS and
2:54 hp who are going to launch displays hopefully sometime in the summer and
2:58 it's up to those guys how they want to finish the screen matter glossy how they
3:01 want to do the stand the sound the bezel and the osd options but in terms of the
3:06 actual performance of the panel they're all using the same panel so it should be
3:10 pretty similar okay then so i mean it's a tv
3:14 realistically the expectation would be that you can use it for more than just
3:18 gaming so NVIDIA's solution to that is to integrate a shield tv so their full
3:24 standalone device experience into the display and this is another thing that
3:29 was in our video why don't you just have a high-end thing built into the thing
3:33 why are they why are they laggy it's ridiculous so amazon and netflix both
3:37 have 4k HDR support and now you've got full integration with google smart home
3:42 and google voice which is pretty big and this is another announcement today that
3:46 just like someone mentioned in passing i was like what really
3:49 g-sync is now supported with game stream and in Android games on shield tv
3:56 though it should be noted you can't just plug your existing shield tv into your
3:59 tv or your monitor because it only has HDMI out and g-sync on the desktop
4:04 anyway at this time is only supported over displayport
4:08 another cool thing for the tv guys not the gaming guys out there is video
4:11 playback thanks to variable refresh rate is done at the native frame rate so if
4:16 you're watching cinematic content it'll be running at 24 FPS or if you're
4:19 running something like the grand tour on amazon then you will actually see it at
4:23 the 25 FPS that it was shot at no stupid
4:27 interpolation no pull down no nothing like that so
4:31 let us know what you guys think in the comments is couch gaming finally here
4:35 we've got low latency wireless mice we've got wireless keyboards we've got
4:41 actual gaming tvs is it time
4:44 well it's going to depend on your budget like i said it's coming this summer and
4:47 NVIDIA is not commenting on pricing at all
4:51 so i'm just going to have to wildly speculate based on what i know about a
4:54 typical g-sync up charge over a decent monitor and say i wouldn't expect these
4:58 to be less than probably around five grand so let me know what you guys think
5:02 you're gonna see and what you would pay at the comment section at the comment
5:06 section dammit i was so close you know what let's just roll with that thanks to
5:09 synergy for sponsoring this video synergy 2 makes the configuration of
5:14 synergy their keyboard and mouse sharing software that works across Windows Linux
5:18 and mac easier than ever even with more complicated networking setups also
5:23 improved with synergy 2 is the ability to have it running seamlessly in the
5:27 background so you can set it and forget it so check it out at the link in the
5:30 video description it's seamless dot com synergy
5:33 ces 2. you get 50 off down there by the way
5:37 so thanks for watching guys if you disliked this video do that if you liked hit like if you really liked it then
5:42 well you can't buy any of these yet so my standard outro is no good but you can
5:45 subscribe so you don't miss any of our content from ces 2018.
