0:04 store. phantom.in screen protectors out there
0:08 as well as hyperx LG's big push at the show for TVs this year is 4K OLED so
0:14 they've got a really cool demo behind me that really I I think explains some of
0:19 the advantages of OLED very visually so on your left you've got a traditional
0:23 LED back lit LCD so you've got the actual back panel you've got a diffuser
0:27 sheet for the back lighting so that it you don't just have like bright spots in
0:31 the middle of the panel you know you ever heard a backlight bleed well that's
0:34 the kind of thing that is inherent with a a backlit design that then has a panel
0:38 in front of it that has to turn the pixels black in order to try to block as
0:42 much light as they can to produce black well you can never reach black that way
0:46 with an OLED panel the one that I have here on my left well all there is is the
0:51 back cover of the TV and the OLED panel
0:54 because it emits its own light and each pixel can be turned off individually for
0:59 effectively black or infinite contrast but of course they don't expect you to
1:03 take their word for it behind me is the OLED experience room where they've got
1:06 their own LED back lit LCD TV with
1:11 localized dimming which is a way that LCDs can try to achieve better black
1:16 levels at least in certain parts of the screen where the image is darker for
1:19 better effective contrast a kind of like a a voodoo trick that I've never
1:23 personally really liked and I usually turn off and then they've got that next
1:27 to an OLED TV where this uh the the
1:31 imagery they have of this sweet little piece of motorcycle art demonstrates
1:35 extremely well how the black parts of the image really are black instead of
1:40 that gray that you've come to expect from anything that is not able to
1:44 individually turn off the pixels but OLED's about more than just improved
1:49 black levels and you know vibrant colors and all that kind of stuff through the
1:53 use of well what is effectively a simpler physically overall design
1:58 they're able to do some really cool stuff stuff like this now this isn't the first time we've seen LG show off a TV
2:03 that's actually flexible and with the push of a button can be changed from
2:07 Flat to curved but this is the first time that they're showing us something
2:11 that is going to be a product this year now there's no model number yet there's
2:16 no price or anything like that but they're telling us that this 77in OLED
2:21 TV that can be adjusted from all the way flat to actually quite curved is going
2:26 to be available this year as part of their 99 100 series looks freaking
2:32 amazing in person and I mean this addresses one of the issues that I have with curved TVs in general in that
2:37 you're stuck in this situation where you've got a sweet spot or you've got
2:42 distorted sort of a distorted view of the TV well now depending how far away
2:47 your couch is how many people need to be in The Sweet Spot you can actually
2:50 adjust it by adjusting the curve that's not going to be cheap though so that's
2:53 cool TVs that we don't know how much they cost and they have like Space Age
2:57 Technology in them but what are people actually more likely to be buying this
3:01 year for a 4K TV probably one of the flat IPS models that are going to be a
3:05 lot more affordable and are still coming with some new Innovations so first of
3:09 all with color Prime LG is upping the ante in terms of color reproduction
3:13 they're also improving contrast they're adding 4K upscaling as well as improving
3:18 viewing angles with their IPS technology which if you guys have been following
3:21 our channel for any period of time you're probably familiar with how much
3:25 we love IPS but I've got Kevin here to tell me what they're doing on the
3:28 software side to make their Smart TVs a little bit more smart yeah we're really
3:33 really proud of our Weber West platform we launched it last year actually Cs and
3:36 you remember seeing it since then we've launched and sold over 5 million webos
3:40 sets globally so we're really excited about the success this year we're bringing web OS 2.0 and what that brings
3:45 is enhan speed we're adding multi-core processing to actually speed up the
3:49 startup time and switching Time by 50% we're also keeping that easy to ous
3:52 interface that customers have known to love well there you go easier and faster
3:56 I guess it doesn't really get much better than that does it that's it but but as much fun as it is to look at what
4:01 you can buy today or even later on this year Well CES wouldn't be the same
4:05 without the stuff that there is no model number no model name no estimated
4:09 release time no nothing you got to you got to look at that stuff too so this is
4:14 what they're calling the world's first 98 in 8k color Prime Ultra HD TV you can
4:19 see how interesting it is to people even if we're filming they're like getting in there with their cameras and all that so
4:23 this is essentially a 98 in TV that runs
4:27 at 16 times the pi pix count of 1080p four times the pixel count of 4K has no
4:33 consumer interface that exists that would be able to drive this kind of
4:37 resolution but it's just here for the sheer wow factor of it all we're going
4:42 to get our camera as close as they're going to allow us to they don't let us pass the uh the little barricade here
4:47 and we're going to show you guys how fine that image is but basically this
4:50 would almost be usable from like monitor viewing distances as opposed to TV
4:55 viewing distances speaking of viewing distances if you're looking at your
4:59 phone ever and you want it to not get scratched up and still be you know super
5:03 crystal clear and have a nice satisfying feel you might want to check out store.
