2:29 ufs memory cards what ufs is is in a
2:34 nutshell basically um very similar to
2:38 the interface that you would find on a on a desktop or even a server computer
2:42 it actually uses the SAS protocol it has
2:45 more contact pins um and it is able to
2:49 achieve read and write speeds that are pretty similar to what you can do with a
2:54 SATA 6 gbit or a SAS 6 GB
2:58 connection I like to think that this is kind of like uh kind of like apparently
3:04 Luke is louder than me well I'm trying not to interrupt him more than he's
3:08 trying not not to interrupt me because I mean come on it's like it's w show you

3:26 thing about this release from Samsung is that there is no ecosystem for the cards
3:31 whatsoever there's just okay they've got cards up to 256 GB but there are no
3:37 readers on the market and yeah they're super fast but there's
3:43 literally nothing you can install them in and you can't buy them they're just announced we've already reached out to
3:47 them asking um if they can send us something or if um like even just to
3:53 kind of showcase it wow I like lost my
3:56 voice from Whispering like that like if we can showcase it or
4:02 just kind of hold one up on camera and be like waa it's an SSD the size of your
4:07 pinky nail but so far they basically said um no so here I'll give you the
4:14 kind of the quote from their uh memory product planning and application
4:17 engineering senior vice president and I'm getting glared up by Luke okay by
4:21 launching our new high capacity high performance ufs card lineup we are
4:26 changing the growing Paradigm of the memory Card Market to prioritize and
4:32 someone just moved my document uh to
4:35 prioritize performance and user convenience for all well it's good to
4:39 know that's an important shift because if performance and user convenience were
4:43 not priorities before then this is a great step in the right
4:46 direction so in a nutshell ufs memory
4:50 cards provides five times faster sequential read performance than a
4:54 typical micro SD card did I mention this was mic a Micro SD replacement micro SD
5:00 not like fulls size SD like they are absolutely tiny so to put that in the
5:05 right perspective with a ufs card users
5:08 can read a 5 Gigabyte full HD movie in
5:12 approximately 10 seconds whereas a UHS 1
5:15 MicroSD would take over 50 seconds and that's assuming that that's a 95
5:20 megabyte pers second card uh random read
5:24 iops are 40,000 I mean that is pretty comparable
5:29 to fairly modern 2 and a half inch
5:32 desktop ssds on the on the value end of
5:35 this of the uh of the spectrum and the
5:39 the 256 gig ufs car delivers more than 20 times higher random read performance
5:44 compared to a typical micro SD so what's
5:47 really cool about this is that
5:50 expandable phone storage has been a bit of a problem for a long time for a
5:56 number of reasons whether it's uh phone manufacturers Just refusing to build in
6:00 the slots whether it's the mobile operating system makers kind of going oh
6:05 well gee there's a lot of issues with MicroSD expansion because it uses a
6:09 completely different interface different communication protocol um it doesn't
6:13 actually Jive that well um I mean it's
6:17 okay for like photo storage but it's not that great for
6:22 doing things like installing apps one of the reasons for that is that random
6:27 performance is really not very good but
6:30 ufs these cards are actually using a very very similar means of communication
6:35 and should perform similarly to Modern
6:40 primary storages in your mobile devices
6:43 so hi hello so
6:49 hopefully so hopefully gone are the days
6:52 of having to buy a device that has the amount of storage you need I mean I
6:56 don't know if Apple's going to give in and support ufs but but at least on the
7:00 Android side of things I would expect that to happen and if it does then hey
7:05 32 gigs of Base storage might be fine because you're not going to be limited
7:08 to only being able to store you know photos and movies on your expandable
7:14 storage you could be able to actually store apps or even like wow here's
7:20 here's a mind-blowing thing I mean we could see phones ship in more of a
7:24 barebones type configuration and you could just add your own full speed
7:29 storage to it after the fact or buy a bundled one this would help multiple
7:34 parts of the supply chain because you look at what the differentiators are for
7:39 product categories like computers okay so you can get them with a different CPU
7:42 you can get them with a different GPU etc etc etc if you're building a custom
7:47 one well that's great but if you're trying to buy a pre-built that actually
7:52 dramatically increases the complexity
7:55 for both the manufacturer who has to
7:58 validate all all these different SKS and
8:02 the button okay so not only the manufacturer who has to build and
8:05 maintain all these different SKS but also the Distributors and the retailers
8:10 who have to stock them all separately I mean what a frustrating situation I mean
8:14 if those of you who have worked in any kind of supply chain job will probably
8:18 get this what a frustrating situation to have a customer walk in the door and say
8:23 yeah I want a a black iPhone 4S and
8:26 you've got 50 white ones in the back and
8:29 you don't have a black one to sell them and you're just like so that's aging
8:33 inventory that's inventory that you've already paid for and now you have to go
8:37 in special order some stupid thing the customer has to come back and it's a much higher touch transaction so being
8:42 able to just buy a barebones phone and boom pop a ufs card in there would be
8:47 absolutely sick so Samsung's been really
8:51 aggressive in preparing ufs for the market uh contributing to the JD
8:54 standardization of ufs 2.0 specs in September 20 uh 2013 and and the ufs one
9:00 card extension standards in March 2016 and basically they completed the
9:05 universal flash storage Association certification program and there you have
9:09 it they have cards they're ready to rock we just need devices and we need readers
9:15 well the entire rest of the ecosystem really and we also need someone other
9:19 than Samsung to uh also release products so there's a little bit of competition
9:25 not that I'm saying Samsung hasn't been mostly benevolent as far as their SSD
9:32 SSD pricing goes like I mean they they've been kind of Market leaders
9:37 there so so I did like your idea of like buying a phone and adding your own
9:41 storage yeah especially for smaller phone manufacturers where they don't
9:45 have to I mean they could just go okay we have three different models here's
9:48 three colors instead of three different models three different colors plus three
9:52 different capacity oh crap now there's nine SKS I would worry about um the
9:57 volatility of it like its ability to die
10:01 um but if you just had like a little chip on the phone that had a base level
10:05 operating system like a like a fairly
10:08 small compact version of Android that they expect you to
10:11 update you could just push that to the card every time that you want to wipe it
10:15 or add a different one in or do whatever yeah and then that could that could push
10:18 to the card you could update off that Cal using Wi-Fi or whatever and then
10:21 you're good to go that would be awesome I would love that to be completely
10:25 honest um got someone asking in the twitch chat if we can talk about the Dan
10:29 Case A4 sfx trust me there will be
10:33 plenty of coverage of the danase A4 sfx
10:37 it's coming it's taken a little while to work on I actually had to Source some
10:41 special RAM to work with the special motherboard that I had already sourced
10:46 because my friends I am doing an update to the
10:51 ultimate compact gaming PC it will have
10:54 more cores more GPU horsepower B more of
10:58 absolutely everything more RAM did you say gaming PC yeah it will well whatever
11:05 it'll be it'll do anything okay yeah like more cores might literally slow you
11:10 down it is not limited to just gaming performance it can do absolutely
11:15 anything pretty much Under the Sun everyone in the chat is saying Pokemon
11:18 go we don't have it in Canada yet and there's like sorry I'm just going to do

12:06 like it's not it's not a high-end like interesting combat system it's rather
12:10 boring we would AR people would argue Diablo I is a good game you basically
12:14 click the mouse I love if you want to if you want I know I know but if you want
12:17 to bring it down to most basic you click the mouse and the bad guy it's it's not
12:22 like an intricate interesting combat system right sure okay fair enough
12:27 although I've heard the Pokemon one is particular Lally heinous cuz apparently all you do is just tap on the screen

15:08 closing first signs of healing which as
15:13 um you know some of you may or may not know is most assuredly a good thing
15:19 scientists at MIT and elsewhere have identified signs of healing of the
15:24 Antarctic ozone layer so the findings published earlier this week in the
15:29 journal science by Susan Solomon uh her
15:32 team found that the September ozone hole
15:35 has shrunk more than 4 million square kilom well that's a lot which is about
15:41 half the area of the United States of America okay or like a quarter of
15:47 Canada boom Get Wrecked we don't use the
15:52 majority of it it's mostly just ice and
15:55 Wasteland but you know so this is since 2000 when ozone completion was at its
15:59 peak the team also showed that recovery has slowed somewhat at times this could
16:05 be due to the effects of volcanic eruptions year toe so the authors used
16:09 Fingerprints of the ozone changes with season and altitude to attribute the
16:13 ozone's recovery to a decline of atmospheric chlorine originating from
16:18 chlorofluorocarbons or cfc's so if you were wondering was it actually a good
16:24 idea for us to do away with cfc's
16:27 however convenient they might have been the answer is probably yeah I mean we
16:32 could all be screwed anyway but yeah like this doesn't at all solve all the
16:36 problems this is one element that is very good that it is being solved there
16:41 are many others that are still very large issues so to be clear these
16:45 compounds were once emitted by dry cleaning processes old refrigerators
16:49 airs such as hairsprays and most importantly the air conditioning unit of
16:55 my 1991 red Volkswagen diesel Jetta so I
16:59 actually had um all of the freon that it
17:02 totally makes sense that it was at a peak in the 90s because of
17:07 hairspray every single dude with frosted
17:10 tips made that
17:16 hole sorry who are we talking

17:23 man that's awful um so I was telling a story it wasn't a
17:28 very good story now that it's been interrupted I almost feel like I

17:42 didn't work that really was the end of the story because they couldn't pre they
17:46 couldn't recharge it with Freon because Freon was not a thing anymore but man

17:55 Godlike it was like it was really like put putting your hands up to like like
18:00 an open window in the dead of winter like oh I I was so hot and now I'm like
18:06 cold this is great by comparison uh my
18:10 wife's uh my wife's 2008 rabbit is kind
18:14 of like if you know we had a couple of
18:17 Lukes sitting under the hood blowing through the vents like yeah yeah and
18:23 like it takes so long to get to the cold State AC these dayson was
18:28 awesome but good it's gone it's good that it's gone um in 1987 virtually
18:35 every country in the world signed on to the Montreal protocol to ban the use of
18:39 CFCs and repair the ozone hole and they've been tracking it yearly etc etc
18:43 etc um so Solomon again the researcher
18:46 sees no reason barring future volcanic eruptions that the ozone hole shouldn't
18:50 shrink and eventually close by
18:54 midcentury so I could live to see the
18:57 entire process from the signing of the Montreal protocol to the closing of the
19:02 ozone layer that is to say unless all
19:05 the other terrible stuff we doing catches up with us by that time very
19:08 possible all right do you want to move on to the UN Council thing and I'll go

21:10 building in Geneva Switzerland on June 13th they're taking aim at countries
21:14 that block access to Internet as means to uh to suppress free expression and
21:20 trust me there's probably more of those than you actually realize the resolution
21:24 passed by a 47 member Council who unquote said they condemns unequivocally
21:31 condemns unequivocally measures what to
21:35 uh internationally prevent or disrupt access or dissemination of information
21:40 online in violation of international human rights laws and calls on all
21:44 states to refrain from and cease such measures uh going to be interesting
21:49 states listed Russia China Saudi Arabia
21:52 asked the UN to strike that passage from the digital rights decree not surprised
21:58 South Africa and India also called for its removal um and
22:03 they're uh there they're saying like different reasons why this is happening
22:06 internet blackouts have been well documented across China definitely
22:10 multiple times and Middle East again multiple times the Turkish government
22:14 were reportedly blocking news outlets as well as Facebook and Twitter in Wake of
22:19 Istanbul's um airport attack which was
22:22 absolutely terrible um transparency reports published by Twitter show that
22:26 requests from courts and government agencies have skyrocketed from six per
22:29 year to over a thousand and there's more than just Twitter that has that problem
22:35 um yeah it's uh it's a big thing Edward Snowden former CIA
22:40 employee these notes are gold um he has
22:44 called the un's dedication to the issue good news through Twitter his Twitter
22:49 account is Awesome by the way so feel free to check yeah he only follows the
22:52 NSA like nobody else yeah
22:56 um I'm going to figure out when his handle is right now it's at Snowden at
23:00 Snowden yeah yeah yeah following one and it's the NSA

23:29 been internet forom I just remember seeing a headline about it so I don't
23:32 know I don't know how that's going to work out but anyways so what's happening

23:39 don't know if this Falls in your wheelhouse at all no no Snowden is not wrong when he says it's good news
23:44 because obviously it is the UN does lots of stuff but also I think a lot of
23:49 people know you don't need to be an expert in international policy or
23:52 anything like that to know that not every country in the UN has equal clout
23:57 yeah and so if I mean you have Russia and China that don't want this and these
24:02 are two of the five permanent Security Council Members which is a huge deal
24:07 yeah so I mean it's nice but whether
24:11 anything's actually going to be done um who the heck knows um and the UN also
24:17 has an Enforcement issue they do they have a huge Enforcement issue they're
24:21 like everyone must do this if you don't do this that's probably fine it's like
24:27 in uh Team America when you know Hans BS
24:31 comes in to Kim Jong E's Palace and he's
24:34 like you know what are you going to do about he says we will write you a letter telling you how angry we are you know so
24:40 I mean I mean it's not quite you know it's not quite that you know useless but
24:46 at the same time you know there's obviously an issue here with that um

24:52 mention that because there's also um there's been a huge Trend recently in
24:56 like the past 10 years or so to get internet access like basically
25:01 recognized as a human right but there's also kind of a question of degree here
25:05 it could be anything from like the the great firewall of China to like Britain
25:10 saying you have to opt in if you want to watch porn it could be anything in
25:14 between those two those two extremes you know so there's an issue with that and
25:18 um yeah it's kind of cool that freedom house is mentioned on here I guess part
25:22 of it would be sorry I guess part of it
25:25 would be like the optin thing that you just brought up like it doesn't stop
25:30 tracking so governments would still know what you were doing mhm and they could
25:34 try to hit you for unrelated things if they're corrupt yeah so so it's like
25:37 what is internet might not actually stop the problem yeah is is it just a removal
25:42 of restrictions or is it like we want to have better privacy and lus needs
25:47 something it's on the I pluged it
25:51 in yeah although I might I heard something crashed that might have fallen
25:56 yeah so um yes also funny that you know uh you've mentioned Freedom House in the
25:59 report uh they're a pretty big um NGO they do a report basically every year
26:04 called freedom in the world and they measure every country on a few different
26:08 metrics they C categorize as like free or not free and that's obviously pretty
26:12 a pretty sweeping thing but yeah um I'm kind of not surprised that they were
26:16 looking into this so Freedom House 2016

26:24 green free yeah Green ISE free and then you
26:28 have yellow which is sort of part yeah the way they classify is kind of funny
26:32 not free okay based on the map it's kind of
26:36 ironic that Snowden is getting asylum in Russia but in in a not- free area
26:41 yeah interesting where's like the most free country um a lot of countries are
26:47 tied because it's only on a scale from 1 to seven in in like I think two
26:53 different categories so if if you if you
26:57 have one writings and both and that's like the most you can get so right okay
27:00 that makes sense now one thing that we do need to do that I forgot is whenever
27:05 we're like talking about something we should share it on the screen people actually see what we're talking about

28:54 Circuit Court of Appeals one of the most powerful appeals courts in the US is
28:58 that true yes yes ABS um any user sharing a password that has not been
29:03 authorized by the host of the website is
29:06 in breach of the cfaa Computer Fraud and
29:09 Abuse Act in the US interesting we've
29:12 banned people on The Forum for that before um conviction of David nosul
29:17 nosel something like that former employee of kfir international a
29:22 research firm for former employee of
29:25 Korn they made some interesting music thinking about the band everyone listen
29:28 to a middle school yeah hear that upheld nozzle used a former co-worker's
29:33 password to access one of the firm's databases after his employment was
29:37 terminated which was declared as unauthorized use of a computer system
29:42 under the cfaa interesting see because I'm thinking
29:46 like I guess I didn't think of this on the right level I was thinking like oh
29:49 we're sharing our World of Warcraft accounts like I didn't I didn't yeah
29:53 that's why I really didn't like the headline because Shar ing your password
29:58 isn't a crime using someone else's to gain unauthorized access to a system is
30:04 and that's been the case for a long time this isn't really you okay that makes
30:07 sense yeah interesting they argue that
30:10 this sets a dangerous precedent for everyday citizens who share passwords

36:51 improvements there 960 versus 1060 are
36:54 3x they're stating which is absolutely badass in Rise of the Tomb Raider it's
36:58 slightly over 2x Witcher 3 wild Hunt and OverWatch are slightly under 2x huge
37:04 performance improvements and they've been slinging around the term that the
37:08 1060 is getting 980 like performance in
37:14 everything not just VR yeah I did clarify that when I first heard about it
37:18 I thought they were doing that thing again where they were like oh yeah it's like this performance in VR and then you
37:23 get the performance bump because of S&P but I have heard from them directly
37:29 without doing any benchmarking on my own um that it is on like performance levels
37:36 with the 980 uh not including VR titles
37:39 so even just DirectX 11 and 12 titles I also put um a picture of the card on the
37:43 screen for you guys and I don't know how easy it is for you to tell but um that
37:47 kind of middle area it looks it looks pretty nice considering like what tier
37:51 this card is supposed to be at it sort of has a similar look to the high rent
37:55 Founders editions card addition cards but that little area actually is not a
38:00 window it's kind of just a piece of like plastic is a piece of metal plastic with
38:04 like lines cut into it so it sort of
38:07 looks it's reminiscing like the other ones and like it it can trick you if you
38:11 don't look that closely actually it it it looks pretty good um especially for
38:14 its price point so one thing to add is this specific card is
38:19 $300 because it's the founders Edition there will be models released under that
38:24 but now that we've had experience with the founders Edition with the 1080 and
38:27 the 1070 we kind of know how this is going to go so there's probably going to
38:31 be one aftermarket skew that has a nice cooler on it that's like five bucks or
38:36 10 bucks cheaper than the founders Edition there's going to be an aftermarket skew that is more expensive
38:41 than the founders Edition and then there's going to be the like really
38:45 cheap plastic blower style cooler which
38:48 will be the advertised low aftermarket
38:51 MSRP price which is $2.49 which so that's only uh 50 bucks
38:57 more than the rx480 from AMD so these guys are going to be fighting it out a

50:36 Lotto video that T Martin Pro posted he said we found this new site called csgo
50:42 Lotto effectively lying to his viewers
50:45 encouraged his viewership to go check it out and said that he won a pot and it
50:49 was the coolest feeling ever and he said
50:53 that he won a pot that was $69
50:57 I'm sure that was a entirely chance um both YouTubers had strings of
51:04 videos on their channels where they gambled csgo skins through their website
51:08 so on June 27th YouTuber honor the truth reported that T Martin and Syndicate
51:12 actually own the company csgo Lotto T
51:15 Martin replied with a video informing his audience that it's never been a
51:19 secret and originally claimed that he was offered an equity stake after he had
51:24 already been sponsored by the company the company documents show that he was
51:28 the one who Incorporated the company so that would be categorically false he
51:34 said he claimed it in every video that he had uploaded so h3h3 found that t-
51:39 Martin had tried to go back to his older videos and put disclaimers in the video
51:44 descriptions after the fact this video has since been removed um so ownership
51:50 of the company wasn't noted on T Martin's LinkedIn while his other
51:54 business ventures were on July the 3rd this has been very much an ongoing
51:59 development here h3h3 Productions covered it and the story blew up T
52:03 Martin then released an apology video which he has since also removed July 4th
52:08 T Martin deleted all of his videos revolving around csgo Lotto so a sex uh
