0:00 this video from ces 2018 is brought to you by the symbios demo car from grouper
0:04 no we'll have that linked in the video description
0:08 so we're here in the ASUS rog suite where they've got a ton of amazing
0:12 display technology on display first up is their 144hz 4k HDR
0:19 gaming monitor that we actually saw demoed like a year ago the pg27uq
0:27 but the key difference is that they are actually going to be shipping this thing
0:31 really soon so that's a large 27 inch g-sync display 144 hertz 4k pretty much
0:37 can't go wrong unless of course you're into ultra wide gaming in which case you
0:41 might be more into the pg-35 vq so
0:44 that's a 3440 by 1440 35-inch g-sync
0:50 200 hertz display so that is double the
0:53 refresh rate of the predator x34 one of
0:56 my personal favorite gaming displays
1:00 also here is a seuss's flavor of NVIDIA's
1:04 bf g tv display what are they calling it yeah
1:08 yeah bfgd or big format gaming display i don't
1:13 think they have a model name for it yet but in a nutshell it's a 65 inch monitor
1:19 effectively because it doesn't have a tv tuner but it does have a lot of features
1:23 that are appealing to gamers so it uses a va panel with a 3001 contrast ratio it
1:28 runs out 120 hertz 4k resolution with
1:32 HDR and it has a built-in NVIDIA shield
1:35 so you can play Android games you can stream netflix amazon prime etc but most
1:41 importantly they're boasting ultra low latency so if you're a couch gamer that
1:46 looks like it's going to be the solution sometime later this year
1:51 the most visually interesting one though is probably this guy now on the surface
1:57 this looks pretty boring it's just like a couple of rubber pieces at the top and
2:02 bottom and then it's a strip of pmma
2:05 which is a plastic material similar to acrylic but what's special about it is
2:11 the fresnel style lenses that are cut
2:15 into it so traditionally the way to achieve
2:19 bending of light would be to have like a big bubble lens but instead this just
2:23 has a bunch of slits cut into it all along kind of similar to the rings that
2:27 you see inside of an htc vive and what it does is if you put it on top of the
2:33 bezels of ASUS pg pg258q gaming monitor
2:38 it makes them essentially disappear by stretching the edge of this screen and
2:43 the edge of this one creating a bezel-less effect now it's
2:47 not perfect you do lose a little bit of light so they are a little bit dimmer
2:52 but i will say that if you're into sim racing the experience is significantly
2:57 more immersive they're optimized for 130 degree angles and they're working on
3:01 getting it working with the pg-35v and pricing is expected to be well they
3:06 don't know but they're saying under a hundred dollars which
3:09 like i would hope so but like that seems pretty reasonable if
3:14 you're into surround gaming so yeah there you go oh i took apart their
3:18 demo anyway
3:21 this video was brought to you guys by the symbios demo car from group renault
3:25 we checked it out quite recently it's their level 4 autonomous car that i
3:29 actually got to drive and i use the term drive with a serious asterisk on it
3:35 because we managed to take it out on the freeway
3:39 with my hands completely off the wheel the seat tilted back and then at its
3:43 most extreme with a vr headset on
3:47 that was actually simulating what it would be like if i was in a completely
3:52 different environment whatsoever with the car sensors themselves tied into the
3:57 vr headset so you guys are going to want to check out that video to see the
4:01 latest in autonomous driving innovations we're going to have it linked in the
4:05 video description so thanks for watching guys dislike or
4:10 like check out uh well i mean you can't buy any of this stuff yet but check out
4:15 subscribe so you don't miss any of our ces 2018 content
