welcome to my unboxing of the final
0:10
chapter of XFX is new Pro Series power
0:14
supplies so these are all super
0:18
efficient really like super efficient
0:21
high performance power supplies that are also focused on silence clean power and
0:27
ease of use so what makes them easy to use is is the fact that they have easy
0:31
rail which is basically XFX is way of saying that they have a single powerful
0:35
12volt rail they've got a 5year warranty
0:38
so this is the 1050 wat 80 plus Gold version we've already
0:44
seen the limited edition 1 watt 80 plus
0:47
platinum and then so okay here we go and then we've also seen the 1250 watt 80
0:52
plus gold as well so the key difference between the 1050 wat 80 plus gold and
0:58
the 1250 wat 80 plus gold SCH is going to
1:01
be in the GPU support so the 1050 W unit
1:06
is only rated for 1,50 Watts which you
1:10
know what some would argue you could probably get away with a four-way
1:14
graphics card configuration but it wouldn't really be my recommendation um
1:19
I said during the 1250 watt one that you could get away with it with 1250 and I
1:23
stand by that especially now that AMD has released their new 7970 graphics
1:28
cards which we found out actually don't
1:31
consume much more power in fact if any than the
1:36
6970 um which is a really good sign what
1:39
that means is maybe we're kind of getting to the end of this more power
1:42
with every generation of graphics card thing so you can buy a power supply now
1:47
that's good for 3 to four high-end gpus depending which capacity you buy and be
1:51
confident that it's going to work with a Next Generation product so this one
1:55
right here is 80 plus gold is 1050 Watt
1:59
and it is it comes equipped with three PCI Express
2:04
uh modular cables Each of which has two
2:07
six plus two pin connectors at the end so it's ready for three graphics cards
2:12
by default also comes with black screws for installing it in your case as well
2:16
as a super beefy thick power cord now this is one of the killer
2:21
features of this guy right here the I would never even consider turning it off
2:25
this is hybrid fan mode and what hybrid fan mode does is when your power supply
2:30
is under uh hold on let me just double
2:34
check yes when your power supply is under 20% load which let's face it a 150
2:40
W power supply is usually going to be under 20% load especially when you're
2:43
idling when it's under 20% load the fan turns off completely this is not a flaw
2:48
this is not a defect this is by Design so what that means is you're not
2:52
accumulating dust in your grill and in your fan and in your power supply cuz
2:55
it's not even spinning whenever your system is not actually actively doing
3:01
something which is outstanding I think that's the coolest thing in the world
3:04
and every Power Supply from now on until the end of time should come with this
3:08
feature you can't really enable a feature like this unless you build a
3:11
very efficient power supply though because at 1,000 Watts even 80 plus
3:17
let's say 80% efficiency is kicking out a lot of excess waste energy so you have
3:22
to get that I mean 80 plus gold is up in the neighborhood of 87 to 88% efficiency
3:27
so that is what enables them to achieve that so in terms of modular interface
3:32
back here we've got motherboard we've got one of these eight pin guys for the
3:36
CPU we've got those three PCI E connectors so those are for these ones
3:42
so that's up to six uh that's up to six plugs off of these three then we've also
3:47
got 1 2 3 4 5 six peripheral connectors
3:51
and I'll show you all the cables we have for options for those and then over here
3:55
we have either an additional CPU connector and this power supply actually
3:59
comes with both 8 Pin CPU cables or you
4:03
can plug PCIe in so the 1250 wat comes with that additional PCIe this one
4:08
doesn't but I don't think it's relevant because you're not going to be powering four graphics cards off this guy in
4:12
terms of the of the aesthetic I think XFX has done a fantastic job of making
4:17
their power supplies stand apart from everyone else's so you got your XFX
4:20
shiny logo there stand apart from everyone else's without looking tacky
4:24
because you see a lot of power supplies that stand out but they just look awful
4:28
and XFX has not gone down that path at
4:32
all well oh actually before we before we wrap up here one of the things that
4:36
makes this power supply kind of unique is if you look inside you don't see that
4:40
huge thick thing of wires running up to the modular interface and that's because
4:44
they're using a solid link interface so what the solid link interface does is it
4:48
takes uh solid pieces of metal and
4:52
they're just routed like this off the PCB up to the modular interface rather
4:56
than running wires it's more efficient that way and it's tied I internally
5:00
which is not only better for efficiency but also better for cooling let me just
5:04
see if there's anything I'm missing here we covered easy rail we covered solid link and we covered hybrid fan control
5:08
so all those major ones are there and then what have we got over here yes okay
5:13
yes true wattage guarantee it is 1,50 wats of continuous power lesser power
5:18
supply brands are known to leave out things like some of the automatic
5:22
protection sensors which are all in this guy and to not actually deliver uh
5:26
continuous power at a realistic operation temperature which XFX is
5:31
rating at 50° which I would say is even a little bit aggressive um most power
5:36
supplies are not going to be 50° internally um under really any
5:41
circumstances we're talking 50° internal temperatures in your case which doesn't
5:45
happen very often so there that's the example of the solid Link versus the the
5:50
big thing of wires that goes out to that soldered modular interface that looks
5:53
really messy and unrealistic but trust me most of them look like that solid
5:58
link okay so I think we've pretty much covered everything there so let's have a
6:01
look at what we've got in terms of peripheral connectors and then I think we're pretty much wrapping it up we've
6:05
got our 24 pin here and then in terms of
6:08
options here so for SATA we've got a
6:12
three SATA another three SATA another three
6:16
SATA and a two SATA so that one I'd probably run up to my optical drive and
6:19
then the others I'd use for hard drives or ssds we've got one of those Molex to
6:22
dual floppy adapters in case you still use any floppy connectors in your system
6:27
we've got a two Molex and two by three
6:30
mox's so you can choose whatever so you can plug in whatever you want because it
6:34
is fully modular so thank you for checking out my unboxing of the pro 150w
