0:00 a lot of the time when we complain about a product around here we still have to
0:04 acknowledge that the trade-offs made some amount of
0:07 sense i mean i'm sure every engineer would love to make the thinnest
0:12 most powerful coolest and quietest laptop with the
0:17 best battery life but the real world is full of compromises there's one segment
0:23 where we feel like all the technology is
0:26 there and someone just needs to have the
0:29 stones to build it so i present to you
0:33 our vision for the perfect
0:36 gaming tv
0:45 the Corsair one features a compact form factor that is fast quiet and you
0:50 guessed it compact check it out through amazon or newegg at the links below
0:54 let's kick this off with a little disclaimer this won't be a cheap tv
0:59 this is our concept for what would be the flagship of our gaming tv lineup so
1:05 from here any tv manufacturer watching
1:08 hi tv manufacturers could create value options with some of our ideas cut out
1:13 the first crucial feature for our gaming tv is low input lag modern tvs run
1:20 powerful processors and in many cases even full Android computers in them with
1:25 enough power for everything from 4k HDR
1:29 netflix to complex near real-time image processing
1:34 and yet any cheapo monitor that i grab
1:37 off the floor in the office will have lower input leg than almost any tv on
1:43 the shelf at the store and there is no good reason for it i've heard it
1:48 directly from a large tv maker that they
1:52 intentionally leave a lot of processing on even in
1:57 game mode so that if stupid end users
2:00 watch movies in game mode the image will still have that instagram filter
2:05 vividness no so we would be using an OLED panel for
2:10 crt-like pixel response with a processing delay
2:14 like the best gaming monitors of one to three milliseconds and game mode would
2:19 run a simple srgb color profile with
2:23 factory calibrated accurate colors
2:26 speaking of responsiveness once you've used a high refresh rate display for
2:30 gaming there's really no going back so our tvs electronics would be capable of
2:35 driving its 4k panel at 4k 60hz or
2:40 at 1080p at a higher refresh rate 120hz
2:44 would be okay 144 or 165 would be better
2:48 and we'd also want to build in a mode where you can choose to interpolate the
2:54 reduction in resolution or use one to four pixel mapping for
2:59 similar sharpness to running at native resolution with basically just bigger
3:04 pixels we'd also throw in support for both g-sync and freesync which can be
3:09 done if you're willing to use two separate input modules but to fit those
3:14 in along with some of the other features we want to add we realize that some of
3:18 the thinness will have to be sacrificed though i honestly feel these days like
3:23 most people wouldn't care that much about an extra inch for gaming i'd
3:29 rather have a tv that's thicker but has the goods in it to be able to do away
3:35 with a standalone receiver so let's talk inputs
3:38 we want all of them first off displayport why
3:43 the is this not on tvs already
3:46 it's a royalty-free connector with tons of bandwidth and great support for
3:52 variable refresh rate just put it on so
3:55 ours would actually have two one for g-sync and one for freesync
4:00 and then as far as HDMI is concerned four seems like a pretty good number for
4:05 the back current gen consoles from the big three and a set top cable or
4:09 satellite box then oh we're not done yet
4:13 for our older inputs like rca s-video
4:16 component and vga our perfect tv would include a
4:20 high-quality low-latency video resolution upscaler basically an
4:25 integrated framemeister we'd have one set of inputs at the back for your
4:29 favorite retro console with another set at the front for that ps2 or snes that
4:35 you only pull out of the closet once in a while then while we're at it another
4:39 HDMI would be nice and a powered usb hub
4:42 for retro controllers and charging vr gear would be swell on to audio now we
4:49 came up with a really flexible solution for that it should come with bookshelf
4:53 speakers like a mackie cr4 but ones that
4:56 are mounted to the side of the tv the audio signal could be passed to them
5:00 using contacts on the side of the set so no wires but we'd also want them to be
5:06 able to be easily detached and repositioned using standard speaker
5:10 wires that way you could clip them on
5:13 discard them entirely or integrate them into an aftermarket surround setup the
5:19 audio outputs for the rest of which would just be good old-fashioned speaker
5:23 wire running on a high quality amp and dac along with rca and toslink if you've
5:29 got your own another no-brainer that we haven't seen enough of easy pairing with
5:33 bluetooth headsets including support for
5:36 multiple discrete audio streams and you would need that for our next feature the
5:42 pstv had the ability to show a completely separate full screen image to
5:48 two players using 3d glasses but since
5:51 then with active shutter glasses and OLED panels the potential for in-home
5:57 stereoscopic 3d has gotten much better but i don't want to use it for stereo 3d
6:03 imagine this gamers you and your kids
6:06 are wearing the a glasses gaming on a connected pc and speakers while your
6:12 wife and her friend wear b glasses and
6:16 watch 50 shades or whatever on their headphones each side is losing half of
6:21 the vertical resolution but from my review of lg's 2016 OLED the half
6:26 resolution experience at 4k is still
6:30 excellent let's talk remote now then it would be bluetooth because anything else
6:35 is kinda stupid and also so that you could easily use your phone as a remote
6:41 without a built-in ir emitter also it
6:44 would be pretty sick if it had a built-in keyboard and could be switched
6:48 like some of logitech's keyboards to control a pc as a gyroscopic air
6:53 keyboard like this one than just be switched back to the tv on the subject
6:57 of using widely adopted industry standards hmm
7:01 what kind of stand would we use maybe some kind of like weird like two feet on
7:07 one side no how about vasa
7:10 why do tv manufacturers keep reinventing the wheel here for both our 42-inch
7:15 model which we think would be perfect for a dorm or a bedroom and our 65-inch
7:21 model which is a great large format size for the living room without needing to
7:26 be transported to your house on a flatbed this solution would allow the
7:29 user to mount the tv however he or she wants a couple final housekeeping items
7:35 while we're dreaming RGB mood lighting on the back could be controlled through
7:39 the smartphone app controlled dynamically using an integrated dream
7:42 screen controller or over usb with integration with razer chroma and one
7:49 small thing that would make this tv much easier for use with a pc would be the
7:53 option to disable hdcp 2.2 on a given
7:58 source i've had some issues with it not allowing me to see anything until the
8:03 Windows driver loads meaning no BIOS adjustments unless i go grab an extra
8:08 monitor so let us know then in the comments
8:11 is there anything that you think we missed and do you guys agree that if
8:15 we're gonna be expected to spend four to five thousand dollars on a high-end tv
8:21 well there should be an option with features that are meaningful for gamers
8:26 because honestly i don't see why the vast majority of what we proposed
8:31 couldn't be done for around that price point or a little higher
8:35 casper is revolutionizing the mattress industry by cutting out the costs of
8:41 dealing with resellers and showrooms and passing that savings directly to the
8:46 consumer so in a nutshell they're selling premium mattresses at a fraction
8:50 of the price their mattress is obsessively engineered and is made of
8:55 supportive memory foam for a sleep surface with just the right amount of
8:58 sync and just the right amount of bounce their breathable design sleeps cool to
9:03 help you regulate your temperature through the night and i actually got my
9:07 new casper mattress well i shouldn't say one because we actually got two and it's
9:11 super soft and crazy comfortable one of
9:14 them is actually for me to take home and use and the other one is going to be
9:18 going in one of our sets so a huge shout out to them for sponsoring this episode
9:23 and hooking us up with like a crazy comfortable bed for something that's
9:27 gonna be a filming set try sleeping on a casper mattress for
9:30 yourself you can buy it easily online and it's completely risk-free because
9:35 let's face it going into a showroom and trying out a mattress for
