0:00 thanks to sonic for sponsoring this video so we've been talking about mini led
0:04 it looks great you get like a thousand dimming zones plus on a really small screen for that
0:08 awesome HDR experience but when it comes to gaming unfortunately the qd OLED just came
0:14 out and my god is it ever gorgeous that being said i mean one good luck getting one and two
0:21 it's still expensive three it's really not for creatives that's where this guy comes in it's
0:26 the view sonic xg32 one ug 32 is obviously for the size it's a 32 inch display it's 4k 144 hertz
0:35 you can do a lot with this display it's a mix of both creator and gaming it does cost a bit more
0:43 than the alienware at 1300 but it's significantly cheaper than competing mini led displays
0:51 especially something along the lines of like ASUS's pro are at five thousand dollars for any
0:56 of you creatives out there if you're looking for something that's a little bit cheaper than
0:56 the ASUS pro or at five thousand dollars for any of you creatives out there if you're looking for
0:56 something that's a little bit cheaper than the ASUS pro or at five thousand dollars for any of you
0:56 creatives it can do a ton of different color spaces i think it's 100 srgb 99 adobe RGB and the
1:03 98 dcip3 which is almost the same as the pro art except that does a few more color spaces has
1:09 dolby vision and gets a little brighter at 1600 nits however this guy hits 1400 nits which is
1:15 very respective 1152 dimming zones which is tons on a screen this size and then on top of that
1:22 it's got g-sync ultimate like what else do you even want i don't even know
1:26 box let's open the box oh that could have been bad so when you're opening this
1:33 make sure that you don't open it like that because otherwise imagine if this was on a
1:37 bit of a tilt and i just you know kind of popped everything forward like that so let's not do that
1:46 i'm not Linus i don't drop too much stuff but you know accidents happen
1:50 accidents happen accidents happen let's get this out this is super heavy i don't know what's in
1:58 here uh oh the stand okay cool it's got the power brick external power which means that
2:04 this whole panel should be a little lighter bunch of cables oh here's the yeah here's where it is
2:11 this is like at least a few pounds cool so this just goes like this boop
2:15 and it's got that nice screw that i'm a big fan of that basically everyone uses who didn't use this
2:21 samsung samsung please switch to this to this screw design
2:26 i know it was a smart monitor i don't care it's no excuse they should have had the screw but yeah
2:29 you basically just slot this in this had two pylons by the way which is a little more robust of a stand
2:35 just screw it down look at that easy you don't need a screwdriver you don't need nothing what
2:40 is nice that this is actually has some pretty decent little rubber pads on the bottom yeah
2:46 it's not going anywhere like i said this huge power brick it's 100 to 240 volts by 4.2 a 50
2:54 to 60 hertz dc output is 16.9 a 330 watts yeah that's quite a bit boom power brick so they've
3:02 got our handy dandy DisplayPort cable comes with an a to b cable for plugging your monitor
3:08 to your computer so that you can use any of the usb ports and have all that data still go to your
3:12 pc and i think that's it yeah DisplayPort power and usb there's a cable you forgot a cable whoa
3:18 whoa whoa whoa good job hoff i was wrong i dropped this it actually does come with an HDMI cable
3:23 they say that this is supposed to be much easier to actually just clip the stand on and pull the
3:29 whole thing out and you know what i'm it might actually still be the case
3:32 oh yeah the whole bottom just pulls right out no problem okay
3:36 this is a little heavy um this center line is supposed to be rippable yeah look at that easy
3:42 peasy oh yeah i love perforated lines pop them on there we go boom
3:50 yeah that was actually pretty nice that was pretty easy we've got a few other physical
3:56 features like this is a headphone hook for anyone who uses those it's got this RGB diffusion layer
4:02 on the back which i'm so sorry if you saw
4:04 I still think it looks just like the Cooler Master logo.
4:07 Thank you for purchasing a ViewSonic Elite Gaming Monitor.
4:10 Yeah, so they're still branding this as a gaming monitor.
4:13 And I think that it's kind of somewhere in between.
4:16 It's really a mix of creative and gaming
4:18 because of all those specs I mentioned earlier.
4:20 It's pretty thick.
4:21 Like this is definitely a beefy display.
4:24 This is kind of like the ProArt actually, how thick it is.
4:32 It was so close.
4:34 One thing I really like about this display
4:36 versus some others is that, sure,
4:38 there's this huge text on the back, ViewSonic,
4:41 whatever though, check out the front.
4:42 There is like no branding on this thing.
4:45 Let me, okay, it says Elite there.
4:48 That's whatever, that's fine.
4:49 But aside from like the G-Sync sticker
4:51 and this little Elite branding,
4:52 there's no like ViewSonic all the way across the bottom.
4:55 Same with the stand.
4:56 It just says Elite in this bottom right corner here.
4:58 I would rather have the ViewSonic though.
5:00 It's more professional.
5:01 Yeah, you're not wrong.
5:03 I guess if you're a creative,
5:04 you want it to say ViewSonic rather than Elite.
5:06 They are still branding it as like a gaming monitor.
5:08 So I can see why they've got the Elite there
5:10 for, you know, the Elite gaming experience.
5:12 One thing that we didn't really mention
5:14 is this OSD sticker that I peeled off.
5:16 It's basically just showing us quick access,
5:18 OSD joystick, and power.
5:20 So I'm actually gonna feel down here.
5:21 Yep, okay.
5:22 So we have a quick access button here,
5:24 navigation nipple here, which is always preferred.
5:26 And then there's a power button here.
5:27 I do love the navigation nipple,
5:29 but I don't like when that's the only button there.
5:31 I like when they have a dedicated power button.
5:33 And then you can take off this little guy here.
5:36 I hate plastic clip-on stuff
5:37 because I'm always worried
5:38 that I'm gonna break one of the clips
5:39 because I've totally broken them.
5:40 Not frequently, but you know, it does happen.
5:42 But anyway, you've got a nice cable cover
5:43 and then you have these little guys here
5:45 for more cable management.
5:46 And then our IO consists of,
5:49 it looks like a barrel plug for the power,
5:51 headphone jack, HDMI.
5:53 Oh, you get three HDMI ports, that's not bad.
5:55 And then we've got a DisplayPort 1.4.
5:57 And then, what is this?
6:00 Looks like a way to plug into the board.
6:02 And then on top of that,
6:03 we've got our USB-B port to hook up to our PC.
6:06 So there's a green dedicated mouse port
6:07 and that's kind of neat.
6:08 And then two other USB-A.
6:10 The green one's for gaming.
6:11 Yeah, green is for gaming.
6:13 One thing that we're missing
6:15 that a lot of creatives might be looking for
6:17 is USB-C power delivery.
6:20 There's no USB-C at all.
6:21 And there's then no power delivery through USB-C
6:24 because it's not even there.
6:25 It's not the end of the world.
6:26 I think that most people do use for a monitor like this,
6:29 they are gonna use like a dedicated computer,
6:31 a dedicated tower, but it is handy,
6:34 especially in a creative studio
6:35 to be able to take a laptop with a file on it,
6:38 walk over and be like, boom, plug in your laptop,
6:41 show someone whatever you need to show them, walk away.
6:43 Can't do that with this one, but that's okay
6:45 because it's significantly cheaper than the competitors.
6:48 And this one's made for gaming.
6:49 Yeah, this one's made for gaming.
6:51 Gamers don't care about plugging in a laptop to it.
6:53 We kind of forgot to talk about how good the stand is.
6:55 You got some swivel.
6:57 Eh, that's not bad.
6:58 Can it, it can't pivot, but it can tilt.
7:01 And then I think it's height adjustable too.
7:02 Yeah, there's actually a lot of height adjustment.
7:05 Boom.
7:05 Take that Apple.
7:07 It doesn't pivot, but that's okay.
7:09 Honestly, unless the stand was higher or something,
7:11 it probably wouldn't even clear the table anyway.
7:13 And really, are you gonna use a 4K 144 Hertz display
7:18 no matter what the rest of it is?
7:20 Are you actually going to use that vertically?
7:22 Yes.
7:23 Maybe, some people might, Jono might, I'm not gonna.
7:26 So it's totally okay.
7:27 And honestly, if you really wanna do that,
7:29 just put it on a VESA mount
7:30 and do whatever you want at that point.
7:32 That's pretty much it.
7:33 Let's turn it on, let's game on it.
7:34 I wanna see the RGB.
7:35 We've got some pretty sick RGB on the back here.
7:37 It helps that blue is my favorite color,
7:39 but they've got the same problem I had
7:42 with the last one still.
7:43 Basically, there is this strip
7:45 and then they've got these five lights
7:48 and I really wish it had the same treatment
7:51 as it does on the back
7:52 where it's like a really nice solid diffusion layer.
7:55 I don't know.
7:55 I understand you're not looking down there,
7:57 but like I said before,
7:57 when it shines down on this reflective surface,
7:59 you can see individual lights instead of like a light strip.
8:02 It's an incredibly minor detail.
8:04 It's an incredibly minor detail.
8:05 But I really would like it,
8:06 especially if they're already putting
8:07 some kind of diffusion layer here.
8:09 Just make the whole thing diffusion.
8:10 All right, we've got it on our desk.
8:12 We've got it set to everything we need it to be.
8:13 It's in 4K.
8:14 It's running at 144 Hertz or ever so slightly under.
8:18 10-bit color.
8:19 HDR is turned on.
8:21 And yeah, I think it looks gorgeous, honestly.
8:24 It's super crispy.
8:26 They've got the really good borderless design
8:28 all the way around the top here
8:29 with the classic chin on the bottom.
8:32 We think this might be an ambient light sensor,
8:34 but we're not 100% sure.
8:35 But we're not 100% sure.
8:36 The bezels are okay.
8:38 I've got the same problem with a lot of monitors
8:40 where especially in the middle here,
8:42 you've got this big chin.
8:44 Give it just like a touch more plastic
8:47 so that this little tiny black bezel on the bottom
8:49 is fully covered.
8:51 You can see that near the corners,
8:52 they've almost got it down there.
8:54 And I don't know if it's just like a weird curvature thing,
8:56 but once you get into the middle,
8:58 you can see it on the bottom.
8:59 And it's a really minor thing
9:00 that you stop noticing almost instantly,
9:03 but it bothers me.
9:05 The outside isn't too bad.
9:07 It's present, but it could be a lot worse.
9:10 We've got our ViewSonic Elite display controller.
9:13 Jono pointed out that you don't necessarily need the OSD.
9:16 RGB Alliance.
9:17 Oh yeah, okay.
9:18 So if you've got other devices that are all RGB,
9:21 like I've got a Razer thing
9:23 and I've got a Logitech thing on my desk.
9:24 And so this would be really great.
9:26 This will just kind of put them all together.
9:27 Oh yeah, that's bright.
9:29 We're still only getting like 48, 50 frames a second,
9:34 because it's cyberpunk and it's running it like ultra
9:37 or high settings on a 3090 and HDR is turned on
9:40 and DLSS is on,
9:42 but this is exactly why I don't own a 4K monitor.
9:46 It's because it's just way too many pixels
9:49 for you to try to put out like a new AAA game
9:52 with crazy good settings turned on.
9:53 Like, yeah, there's others that are better optimized
9:56 and they still look really good.
9:58 But like this game is almost two years old now.
10:01 Actually it is, it's like two years old now.
10:03 And it's 4K and it's just, my God, 45 frames per second.
10:07 But nonetheless, this looks super pretty.
10:08 Everything's crazy bright.
10:10 That sign right there was like blindingly white
10:13 for just a moment.
10:14 Mini-LED looks great.
10:15 One thing to note is that even though we're only getting
10:17 like 42 frames a second,
10:19 we're not seeing like any tearing or anything like that.
10:21 Not a bunch of garbage ghosting or trailing or anything.
10:24 This is thanks to our G-Sync Ultimate module.
10:27 What that module does is it's basically the normal G-Sync,
10:30 except it's rated at over a thousand nits peak brightness.
10:33 So because this thing hits like 1400 nits,
10:36 it's got the nice G-Sync Ultimate.
10:37 And that alone, the module is usually adding another
10:40 hundred dollars at least to the price tag of your display.
10:43 So factor that into the cost, at least a little bit
10:46 when you're thinking about buying this thing.
10:48 Is it better than G-Sync?
10:50 It is better than G-Sync compatible, but you know what?
10:53 We're thinking about doing a video where we're doing
10:55 G-Sync versus FreeSync versus V-Sync again,
10:57 because we haven't done that in a few years.
10:59 And you know, a lot of new displays are coming out
11:01 with the new G-Sync modules and stuff.
11:03 But yeah, you know, get subscribed to LTT
11:05 so you don't miss that one.
11:06 We're just watching YouTube footage.
11:08 You know, if you've got proper like HDR gaming
11:11 or like if you've got a 4K Blu-ray or something
11:13 hooked up to this thing, man, this looks good.
11:15 It's not Dolby Vision, but it's still hitting 1400 nits
11:20 and peak brightness and like, man, it's pretty.
11:22 Hoffman worked really hard on making this footage HDR.
11:26 So we got to show it.
11:27 And it looks beautiful.
11:28 Oh man, that Porsche.
11:29 I love the color it came in that like powder blue.
11:32 Oh.
11:33 Let me press it again.
11:34 Yes, QD OLED is out and it is cheaper.
11:37 The Alienware monitor is like $1,300
11:41 versus this is about 2,500.
11:43 There are some major differences.
11:44 I mean, the QD OLED is only in 21 by nine aspect ratio.
11:49 So it's ultra wide, it's curved.
11:51 It's not 4K, it's 1440p.
11:53 And if you want to buy it right now,
11:56 scalpers are scalping it for like $3,000,
11:59 which is about what this costs anyway, if not more.
12:02 And then on top of that,
12:03 if you do want to buy it,
12:04 you got to wait like at least a couple of months.
12:06 I'm on the waiting list
12:07 and I don't get mine until like June 20th.
12:09 Whereas this, you can just buy it right now.
12:11 And it's more creative.
12:12 Like if you want something that can both game
12:15 and then do creative work reliably,
12:17 this is a pretty good option.
12:19 There you have it.
12:20 Thanks for watching.
12:21 This was the ViewSonic XG321UG.
12:27 Yeah, I got it.
12:28 All right, XG321UG.
12:30 Yeah, I hate those naming schemes.
12:32 Anyway, if you want to watch more shorts,
12:33 more short circuits,
12:34 feel free to watch any of our other monitor videos.
12:36 We've got quite a few of those.
12:37 Maybe watch Linus with the Samsung G9.
12:41 But anyway, thanks for watching.
