0:00 thanks to Corsair for sponsoring our trip to ces 2019 the Corsair one is
0:05 their new super powerful water cooled gaming and or workstation system you can
0:09 check it out at the link below so Corsair is no stranger to launching
0:12 new RGB products at trade shows but this time really i swear it's actually
0:18 different so this isn't just more RGB
0:22 leds with more animation patterns or
0:25 anything like that no okay actually that's exactly what it is but i swear
0:28 it's different like get over here so this right here is a demo of what
0:33 Corsair has been working with with a company called primax and they're
0:36 calling it capelix and what it essentially is is a method of mounting
0:41 leds and not like not like this entire surface mount like blocky square white
0:47 thing but actually the diode itself just the little dot in the middle that
0:51 actually emits the light mounting leds directly to a pcb and this is important
0:57 for a number of reasons it increases power efficiency which in turn can
1:02 actually increase the maximum brightness of the leds and it dramatically
1:06 increases their density so in the past if they wanted to do let's say an RGB
1:10 memory module they would have been stuck with like basically this kind of spacing
1:15 there's only so much granularity you can get to the animations that you can build
1:19 into the product well now they can achieve density of like
1:24 i mean what do you what even is this this is like a hundred leds or 80 leds
1:28 looks like a hundred and it's like under my pinky and i have i have very
1:33 small hands folks very very small fingers uh so
1:37 right now there's only one product that is going to contain this new technology
1:41 and it's their new dominator platinum RGB you can actually see they've got
1:45 like a history of dominator platinum here and they haven't gone that crazy so
1:49 they've only got 12 of these uh capellix
1:52 leds mounted to it but what they're talking about sounds pretty incredible
1:56 because not only can they mount these things to a rigid pcb they can even
2:00 mount them to a flexible pcb so even some of their most RGB out products like
2:06 some of their fans with 16 leds built into them
2:09 i mean this is a whole new level they could put hundreds of leds into a fan
2:13 and do like i mean they could even display something when you think about
2:16 it this is fundamentally a small led
2:19 display it's absolutely incredible now they're going to need some software
2:23 upgrades because at the current time a single channel off of i believe it's
2:27 their node pro controller does that sound right aaron node pro single
2:30 channel 100 leds at a time right now yeah
2:33 they're so a single channel can only support 100 leds which is like
2:38 i'd have to do this so those guys have some work to do to catch up to this but
2:42 this enables all kinds of new possibilities for led lighting you could
2:47 conceivably have a system with thousands or tens of thousands of leds so in a
2:51 nutshell more compact more power efficient or brighter so they could do
2:56 something like a wireless uh backlit keyboard for
3:00 example and just generally more possibilities because they can put them
3:04 anywhere like that look at the difference in profile here
3:08 it's crazy speaking of peripherals they're stepping up their game there as
3:12 well so we've had range issues actually with our dark core RGB
3:17 wireless mouse and our new employee lounge and i was so thrilled to see the
3:21 harpoon RGB wireless so the incredible thing about this is
3:26 twofold number one is the wireless technology that they've built into it so
3:31 Corsair says that with a single device connected to a dongle they've achieved
3:35 500 microseconds so that is about half
3:39 of a millisecond of latency on this thing and with two devices connected
3:44 like if you had a harpoon RGB wireless and then a future keyboard that
3:48 presumably they're working on you could get one millisecond on each and that's
3:52 with a micro dongle so this is a new technology they're calling slipstream
3:57 and the second really cool thing about it is the price
4:00 so they're not holding back on us and launching this with a hundred and fifty
4:04 dollar mouse they want slipstream freaking everywhere in their lineup and
4:08 they went well uh this mouse is the one that's currently uh most ready for production
4:13 so we're gonna put it in there boom let's go 50 bucks it's super light it's just
4:18 under 100 grams and the range is actually really impressive so it's
4:22 running off of that system over there one of the Corsair one i-140s
4:28 but that's not the crazy thing that's not really that far it's that they're doing
4:32 it at ces so part of their slipstream technology is that they're able to
4:36 straddle two frequencies at a time for a very short period and decide on which
4:41 one is the best in order to maintain that latency and showing it off working
4:46 at a trade show like ces without any hitching is either brave or foolish so
4:52 far it's actually been working really well for most of our time with it so i'm
4:56 leaning towards brave but i mean there's still plenty of time for
4:59 them to regret this it's just looking pretty darn good at the moment they're
5:03 boasting 30 hours of battery life using slipstream or up to 60 using bluetooth
5:07 le although of course there is a latency disadvantage there and it comes with a
5:12 little compartment on the bottom for the dongle as well as a switch so you can go
5:15 between 2.4 gigahertz slipstream and bluetooth this puppy is available uh hey
5:22 hey harry when's the harpoon available
5:25 now okay you can buy it today so you can go check
5:29 it out at the link in the video description
5:32 speaking of the link in the video description this video is brought to you by the Corsair one the lineup goes all
5:37 the way from the i-140 which has an rtx 2080 and an eight core processor all the
5:43 way up to the i-180 pro which is really closer to workstation than it is to game
5:47 ring with 12 cores uh 32 gigs of RAM an
5:51 rtx 2080 ti a 750 watt power supply and
5:54 this is all in the same slim form factor as the original Corsair one so you can
5:59 check that out at the link in the video description thanks to Corsair for sponsoring this video and thanks to you
6:04 guys for watching don't miss any of our ces content we will see you guys at the
6:07 next move oh by the way the elgato guys here at Corsair were going to be super
6:11 sad if i didn't mention their key light so you can control it so check this out
6:16 you can adjust color temperature and brightness and stuff with your stream
6:19 deck it's like wi-fi connected if you're a streamer it's pretty sick if you're
6:22 not a streamer then maybe you just really like having like a
6:26 light um on your desk but that's cool too
