0:00 we are here with steel series Chief gaming officer and we are going to be
0:04 talking about the flux inar and the flux inar Pro we're going to start with the
0:08 pro though welcome to Linus Tech tips at CES 2013 our trip to the show this year
0:12 is powered by Corsair maker of quality PC components and peripherals our
0:17 trusted storage partner is Seagate technology and our trusted networking
0:21 partner is
0:25 linkis so I don't know if you guys are familiar
0:29 with steel series but make a couple of you know peripherals and audio products
0:33 and basically you know if you have a chief gaming officer on your staff and
0:37 I'd say you're sort of a gaming oriented company what makes these optimal for
0:42 gamers or for let's say not Gamers um it's a balance amateur headset which
0:46 means that um it's practically Distortion free it has a really really
0:51 clear soundscape for a first- person shooter where you want to have like spal
0:54 sound and awareness that's super super good um what made them very unique also
0:58 is that during our our development of these when we tried to sort of like make
1:02 a really good product we realized one thing which was that all inur are really
1:06 designed to look pretty um here's an example yeah these look really pretty
1:11 they don't sound great and check out the way that this is ripped yeah out of here
1:15 and and we found that in all our testing actually that they they look very very pretty they're not necessarily like
1:20 really nice and comfortable we bought more than 100 different Inus we tested
1:23 them and we couldn't find a sort of a favorite internally which was like an
1:27 eye opener so we um we actually started
1:30 looking at hearing aids instead a hearing aid is a medical device that's designed to be in your ear and be
1:34 comfortable all day right so we designed these after hearing aids where you just
1:38 put them in and you can feel immediately when they when they plug in and when
1:42 they're comfortable and that's something you can
1:45 wear for hours and hours and it's true you guys you
1:50 actually can I now diesel wears uh he
1:54 diesel wears earbuds that do go over and around his ear and I always kind of
1:58 thought that was a little bit weird i' never actually tried it before it feels
2:01 a little weird at first but you were saying that you actually use this
2:04 running for running now yeah um okay
2:08 another thing that's cool they come with an eight pin connector system here so
2:12 for a PC comes with two dual plugs and for an iPhone or a tablet or a Mac it
2:17 comes with this it's very easy to use oh that's awesome yeah that's something we
2:22 we'll be touching a lot more in the future okay so here should we do like a
2:26 a non-tangle sort of demo here you can do that sure okay so I'm going to put it
2:30 in my pocket now I've seen a fair number of non-tangle cords I've even seen
2:34 braided non-tangle cords that are just around come on it doesn't work you need
2:39 a ribbon cable if you want to have a non-tangle design so you take this out
2:42 of your ear it looks or out of your ear well no you take it out of your pocket
2:45 it's going to look like this they're actually using a slightly wider ribbon
2:49 cable that is a little bit thicker as well than even ribbon non-tangle cables
2:53 that I've seen in the past this I believe is what helps to contribute to
2:57 making it even more non-tangle than what you would normally see which is sort of
3:02 I mean even this this isn't non-tangle at all so yeah there you go so tell us
3:07 about the pricing of the flux in Air Pro and what's it competing against I think
3:11 it's competing against any balance amateur headset um the price would be
3:14 $129 which is incredibly aggressively priced I think it's the best sounding
3:19 headset under $200 okay so there you go
3:22 guys as you know I recommend nothing but
3:25 steel Series 7 H's to anyone who asks me
3:28 about what headset to buy buy for gaming what headset to buy for their computer
3:32 basically I think it's the best sounding headphone under $150
3:37 $180 pans down so if they've done the same thing with the flux inir Pro that's
3:42 great I actually haven't tested it yet but I've brought slick who has more of
3:45 our golden ear guy to uh tell us what he thinks about it first to go over
3:49 ergonomics and design all that kind of stuff I usually do not like in ear
3:53 headphones because they just don't fit in my ears properly but these ones when
3:57 it went around you could really tell that they were designed to fit properly
4:00 in your ears you know what's my favorite thing these ones I keep bringing up
4:03 these I don't really like them but look how far they stick out of your ear and
4:07 how weighted they are towards the outer so what happens is anytime there's any
4:11 pressure on them it pulls them out and there's that weight on your ear canal so
4:14 anyway go ahead audio quality I can't listen to music while running because my headphones always fall up so that's
4:18 actually fantastic audio quality was great A lot of times with gaming stuff
4:22 you find that they just pound base for no absolute reason and you'll play
4:26 something that's like a classical song but all you hear is these a really
4:30 really wide range but we're still able to pound base so that was really nice to
4:33 hear all right so tell us about the more entry level product this is the flux in
4:38 ear yeah so these are designed differently um oh did we lose our flux
4:42 in ear there we go so these are designed a little
4:46 differently they're uh they're based on different close and have a
4:51 look and they're designed to fit into your ear they could actually basically
4:55 go further into your ear um it is not as
4:58 Distortion free as the balanced amateur obviously there's also a technology
5:02 difference um but I would also go on record and say that for
5:07 $59 that's the best sound $49 that's the best sounding H that you'll get period
5:12 and then because again you guys are sort of gaming oriented company it comes with
5:15 those dual adapters as well right uh no not this one not this one oh so this one
5:19 this only for mobile only for mobile but it does have a mic so you can use it as
5:23 a headset no problem something to be aware of guys is you can actually buy
5:27 adapters from your dual sockets to the I think you can get them at a lot of
5:30 dollar stores so I wouldn't worry too much about not having that one included
5:34 however I am really excited to try the inir pro I was busy shooting a video
5:37 about the keyboard and am I missing out uh yes yeah okay I'm getting the yes I'm
5:41 missing out thank you very much for doing this little interview and guys I
5:46 I'm very excited to see more inar products I do like the way they sound I
5:50 like the fact that you don't have to wear a big thing and I love steel series
5:55 audio products so there you go good work thank you thank you thanks for watching
