Meet the Dell Ultrasharp 52in Thunderbolt 6K display. Dell sponsored this video because they know that was scary. That I am a one monitor man. And as soon as I saw this thing, I knew it had to go on my desk, assuming that it will fit on it. Yeah, it should be okay. There's just one small problem now. At 52 in, I might need a paid friend to help me install this. Who's there? Did somebody say 6K 52 in? Did somebody say 52 in 6K display? While I'm sure some of you are familiar with every resolution under the sun, for those who aren't, 6K ultrawide is a whopping 6,144x 2560 pixels. Almost 16 million pixels. So, even though this new monitor is huge, I don't think this is how we're supposed to open it. >> No. >> Oh. Oh, I'm not helping at all. >> No, it's fine. >> Okay. Yeah, that should be okay. >> It's so big. This is a 42-in [laughter] monitor. It looks small now. See, you need the 52-in ultra wide. Oh my god, it's going to fit your desk so much better. Look at the size of this post. >> Yeah, it is supposedly lighter than their uh previous model. It's about the same weight as the 42 in, >> which is okay. You know, that's pretty cool. >> There's the rest of the stand. >> Dude, I'm legitimately kind of psyched. I haven't daily driven an ultrawide in years at this point. This alone is going to be a nice improvement. >> You could kill a man with that thing. We're basically doing this, right? Look, it says unbox it like this and then you put the stand in the back. Uh it does say two people, though. Is there stuff in there? >> Oh, no. I think it's just eco-friendly packaging. Oh, you don't need an adapter plate or anything. >> Doesn't look like it. They come with uh some screws that they've got here. A lot of the earlier curved ultrawides, you did need some kind of bracket or adapter plate in order to mount them to >> I don't know if this is curved. >> It looks pretty. It does look like it. Yeah, I bet you can lift this one-handed. This is comically big. [laughter] >> The size of this pattern. >> Even just like look at the box for all your IO. This is like normally way >> here's a child's hand for comparison. The IO is actually sick. It's got dual HDMI ins, dual DisplayPort ins, and in addition to that, it supports four separate computers via an onboard KVM. It does up to 140 W of charging over the type-C input port and has 2 1/2 GB LAN, which actually came up for me like 4 days ago. I was digging through the footage archive and I was trying to play back some red footage on my setup here and I was like, \"This sucks.\" because I had just enough bandwidth to load it up and play back a little bit and then I went stutter and I'm like that's worse than it not working at all. And then I grabbed a 2 and 1/2 gig dongle and immediately it worked. >> You're scaring me. Holy, it's huge. Imagine if you bought like four of these and you put all of them in portrait. [laughter] >> Hey, it actually isn't that heavy. There you go. Okay. Yeah, I'll do. >> Oh my god. Okay, you're good. That would have been pretty funny. You can put it on the desk. Get it out of the way. Yeah. Go straight down. Yeah, that's it. Oh, gorgeous. Wow. This is comical. >> It's funny because it actually kind of looks like 32x9 because it's so big, but it's only 21 by 9. >> Yeah. which you can tell better when we take this off. And you go, [laughter] \"Oh my god, it's almost as tall as the monitor that it's replacing.\" >> Yes. [laughter] >> Look at that. It's just way wider. This is the ultra wide equivalent of a 42 in monitor. Well, don't forget 2560, right? So, our [laughter] vertical resolution is the horizontal resolution on a 2560x440p TV or monitor. [laughter] So, like this whole thing. That's the bottom of someone's 1440p monitor right there. [laughter] >> Wow. So, the pixel density on this is actually even higher than this. >> I don't know what that is, but this is like 100 129 130. Oh, yeah. So, no way. >> Yeah. So, it's like actually quite a bit denser. >> 129 ppi. >> Now, it does have some drawbacks. It's only 120 Hz. >> For an office equipment display, you know, that's a big deal. A lot of the time there's 60 or 75 tops. >> I do know that. But it also isn't OLED. However, I mean, you've like raged out when we've been sitting here doing script review before and I maximize a white text document and all of a sudden the whole screen goes dim. You're like, how can you even tolerate this? So, by going IPS, you're not going to run into those kinds of protective measures when you have a white image across the entire screen. >> Yeah. And this is modern IPS. It's IPS black. It would actually be really nice for our productions if I didn't use these monitors anymore, too. >> It really WOULD BE. >> WOW. >> YOU'VE GOT a lot of room on this end. >> Oh my god, this is sick. >> It can't pivot. >> Oh, well, yeah. I mean, how tall would the stand have to be before you could [laughter] you'd have to Yeah. No. No. You know what? It has a little bit though. >> A little. Yeah. >> Which is actually really nice because you might not realize it, but your desk probably isn't perfectly level. So, you're replacing three displays with one effectively. >> Time to power this thing up. Have you seen this monster? >> Yeah. Look at the fingerprint sensor. I've seen camera sensors that are smaller than this. This monster features an RTX Blackwell 5000 GPU in it. Basically, it's a portable workstation. And naturally, we'll be connecting it using this 20 GB per second 240 W cable from ltstore.com. Oh, hey, I did the LT store integration already. That means I don't have to promote our new polar fleece. >> Sounds great. It's gotten warm in here already. >> Just want to get everything else plugged in here. I went and plugged the peripherals into this dock because I forgot. >> You don't need it. >> I don't need it anymore, which >> I haven't been using a desktop PC for probably the last 6 months, ever since I did the Snapdragon laptop challenge. >> And it's been great. Certain things about it, but networking has been a bit of a chore. And then getting everything hooked up when I get to stations that have flaky docks on them can be a bit of a chore. So having everything just integrated into the monitor, it's pretty nice. >> I'm so excited. I can't stop just looking at it. Like James has got that big 32x9 monitor to his desk. This looks like that but with more vertical screens today. >> So the way that Dell wants to talk about it is they say it's like having two 27in monitors in portrait flanking what is it? A 32 in in the center. >> A 42-in 4K TV. Not quite in terms of the size, but in terms of the pixel count, in terms of the screen real estate. >> Yeah, it's almost the exact same. >> Oh, do you want to plug the HDMI in over there? >> Or wait, no, I don't need it. >> You don't need it cuz your DisplayPort through the >> Oh, baby. >> I'm pretty sure this is also Thunderbolt 4. >> Uh, yes. But that's not a Thunderbolt cable. So, we're going to see if it works. >> There's a little Takes a second to walk [laughter] around the monitor. >> There's Okay, you got power LEDs on. >> Okay. Like, watch this. >> Wow. It's got a calibration report and everything. We actually did test this in the lab and uh if as long as you're using it in the right color mode, it's very good. Like less than one delta E2000 in, you know, if you set it to DCIP3, it'll do less than one delta E in DCP3. >> Did we measure anything in HDR? >> It doesn't do HDR. It's IPS and it's not meant for HDR. I don't think HDR is even in the title or anything, which hey, thank you for not trying to tell us that something without a full array local dimming zone has HDR. >> We did a video recently where we found that even after spending 10 times as much for a TV that supported HDR, because it didn't have full array local dimming, the SDR TV for a tenth the price actually looked better. >> Wasn't as accurate, but like >> no. And once we took the 10 times more expensive one and we ran it in SDR, it looked better. But >> that goes to show you, you just shouldn't run HDR content on displays that don't have full array local dimming or individually emissive pixels. No Thunderbolt signal. Yep, we need to use Thunderbolt, which is fine. I think I have a Thunderbolt cable in my bag. Dude, this thing has two Thunderbolt 5 ports. >> Hell yeah it does. I know it's a meme and I know it's getting kind of overdone, but absolute cinema. This is crazy. Holy balls. >> See, you can never get rid of this off your desktop. >> It's so sharp. >> And look at how good it fits. >> You might say ultra sharp. Wow. >> Do they still use that branding? >> That is absolutely. I'm pretty sure that's what's on the box. Yeah. >> Nice. >> Now, this is gaming. >> This is productivity, boys. [laughter] Your mouse gets lost when I go from side to side because it's so small. [laughter] >> Yeah, take that, Corridor Crew. This is how we make a person look really small, LTT style. Just kidding. We got nothing against Corridor Crew. Great video. Go check it out. >> We've also got nothing about being small. >> Yeah, >> nothing against being small. >> Yeah. >> Did you plug the laptop into power? >> I mean, theoretically, yes, because it's plugged into the display. >> Is it charging? Check. Uh, it says it doesn't have enough power to charge it optimally. Charging slowly. >> Okay. >> Which we would expect for a chonker laptop. >> Fair enough. Yeah, >> we were playing Ano earlier today. >> Imagine Ano 120 Hz. There's no 60 Hz. Um, [laughter] issue here. So, imagine Ano playing a game of Civ. Um, >> I didn't even think about that. If [laughter] you move over and we set up PBP, dude, we basically [laughter] have our own monitors. So, this is a couple's monitor if you really wanted it to be. >> You could actually have separate systems plugged into it% >> and totally just sit here with your own sets of peripherals using it. >> Why buy two monitor when one monitor do trick? The sharpness and the detail in that is just so good. >> Dell did sponsor this video. There's a few things they wanted us to mention. Apparently, it uses up to 20% recycled glass, a bunch of recycled plastics, up to 50% recycled steel, and 100% recycled aluminum. Oh, that's cool. Pretty cool. >> Yeah, I don't mind that. I mean, up to is a bit of a cop out. >> Yeah. You know, >> whatever. You know, a sponsor video. Don't sponsor a video. We got We got to be honest about it, right? But >> yeah, you know what? I You know, it's really easy to be honest about how awesome this monster is. >> Oh, yeah, >> dude. Like, it I it just makes me want to play the game, man. I told you. >> Like this is this is crazy. >> And like Okay, now that you're now that here, let me move so that you're just by yourself. Now that you're just sitting in front of it and with content, right? >> I completely forget the size. It's a good size, >> right? >> It's a good size. >> I think it's This is This is like exactly what I wanted. >> We did note that it was curved earlier. It's really subtle and honestly, I really like that. Too much of a curve kind of obnoxious. And that's especially true in a work environment where you will often have two people looking at the same display. Oh, I like this new blueprint here. >> Wow. >> How do you How do you like the 52 in 6K monitor? >> I like my island. >> That's quite something. >> You think you could use this for editing? >> No, I don't think it would work very well for editing. I think it's only really good for reviewing scripts. >> I think we need to give all the editors this 6K 52 in monitor. >> I don't think it'd be very good for editing. Right, Bjorn? Uh, no. >> Don't lie, BR. You know, this would be incredible. >> Be amazing. [laughter] Timeline, >> right? >> It's 120 Hz, too. >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. >> You can't tell cuz this game is [laughter] not running at 120 FPS, but >> it's like better than I was expecting. I don't know. I just heard the monitor and I'm like, >> \"Yeah, >> gimmick.\" >> Nah, >> no. >> This is like This is the way to play this game 100%. Okay. But it's not for gaming. Let's look at something that it is for. How would I set this up for productivity? Well, for starters, this is not my computer, so I would probably have Chrome or Firefox installed rather than Edge. But pretty typical way for me to use my machine is setting everything up in quarters. You know, I don't know that I would go I don't think I'd go for quarters on this. >> I think I'd do two halves. >> No, I actually think I would go more like what Dell suggested. >> Oh, with the double 27 in. And then a 42 in the middle. >> Yeah. With a couple vertical slices. And then my main window that I'm working on in the middle. >> They're mostly marketing this to finance bros, but also like data scientists, executives with a ton of spreadsheets all over the place that they have to peruse. Maybe an engineer or someone like an architect looking at a massive blueprint across this whole thing. Like imagine if you're showing a giant blueprint to a client, especially with the sharpness. You'd love to zoom in. Oh, let me see that room. And then you can zoom in on the details. You don't lose anything because the resolution's still there. So, it's really made for I mean, especially with the 120, it's kind of made for everyone who can afford it. >> Oh, pricing yet. >> It is expensive. Make one guess first. One guess, not three, just one. >> I don't see it being less than 1,400 US. >> No, it is definitely not less than that. >> It is basically double. >> Really? >> It's 2,800 without the stand and it's about $2,900 with. But on the plus side, they're not trying to charge you $1,000 for the stand like Apple would. But that being said, I mean, this is a tool. This is a office productivity tool. And so, if you are someone in a career like that, um, chances are you're going to look at this expense and you're going to basically be like, \"Yep, just get it, dude.\" Oh, yeah. This is great. >> This is a spreadsheet that on a mortal monitor, this would take up everything. You know what? Oh, I know what spreadsheet I want. Badinton ELO. [laughter] No, I'm serious. >> I believe it. >> It's a heavy spreadsheet. >> I believe it. >> Um, Elo Ladder V1. Here it is. >> Wow. >> So, on here, all of a sudden, if I want to go into the game history, dude, almost every monitor in my life. >> Yeah. [music] >> I have to scroll horizontally, if I want to look at match results, I can see way more of the ELO history horizontally. >> And hold on. This is with That's with your whole side window there. >> Yeah. And this is all blank. >> I'm working on a new version of this that's going to have separate ELO ratings and separate match tracking for singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. >> You're going to need even more screen space. >> Mhm. So, that one's actually on It's on my other Google account. But the point is that it's enormous. >> The text looks sharp. >> Oh, I know, right? >> Like I'm just like crazy sharp. I have it at 100% scaling right now, >> which should be kind of hard to look at. >> No, this is totally fine. >> But it's totally fine. Like it's small. a little small, >> but it's so sharp that it is makes a noticeable difference. >> Yeah, this is totally legible. At 100% brightness in standard mode, we're getting about 370 nits at all window sizes. >> Oh, that's that's pretty good. >> Really good for an SDR monitor. >> All right, the next thing we're supposed to look at is blue light emission. And I don't really know anything about this. Apparently, there's like a test jig. >> Might ask for David to come over here and help >> and cut. That's okay. That's just a little filter. And I caught it with my foot. Okay. Oh, and it lets only blue light through. Exactly. So, I can see the Yeah, there you go. So, I can see everything that I was saying I could see before. Studio lighting and all that. That's pretty cool. Okay. And then I can see my monitor. Haha, JK. Yeah, basically nothing. Okay, it's not the most scientific exercise we've ever done, but uh this does make it the first monitor to achieve the highest tier of the two Rhineland low blue light certification with up to 60% less blue light compared to the competition. And uh hey, thanks Dell for sponsoring this video. Thanks for sending this over. It was really cool to get an early look at this thing. absolutely incredible form factor that like the early ultra sharps like your 30-inch back in the day that I salivated over when I was in my first year at university. One day this too will be attainable. [laughter] Good job, Dell. Oh yeah, stay tuned for more CES content from the actual show floor. Unfortunately, not everyone's as cool as Dell and not everyone sends us stuff ahead of time for us to get ready before the"}
