entirely","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":25.519,"end_s":31.439,"text":"sure how it operates or what kind it is i know it's a big cube it's quite","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":30.4,"end_s":36.16,"text":"exciting instructions and things like that and it","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":34.079,"end_s":41.68,"text":"also looks like we've got the bed we'll be looking at that a bit later","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":39.28,"end_s":47.039,"text":"i was just gonna say yeah it's quite hefty i'll tell you from","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":52.879,"end_s":59.12,"text":"moving around got a whole bunch of zap straps and things we got to get out too","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":56.239,"end_s":65.119,"text":"oh look they've sent us two full spools of filament that's really nice actually","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":61.68,"end_s":66.08,"text":"white pla and a black pla i think we'll","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":65.119,"end_s":70.56,"text":"go with white it's all really nice and neat if","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":68.159,"end_s":74.799,"text":"i'm honest oh this is going to be sick look at this thing seems like the frame","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":72.88,"end_s":78.88,"text":"is really nice and sturdy this style's different because it's a","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":76.479,"end_s":83.28,"text":"cube most of the other ones are like an upside down t-style printer we","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":81.439,"end_s":87.04,"text":"generally measure the printers in in this direction so you've got your zed","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":84.96,"end_s":92.4,"text":"travel here then your x travel and then your y travels this way on traditional","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":89.84,"end_s":97.92,"text":"printers which were like a reprap style something like that the y-axis stays","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":95.6,"end_s":102.72,"text":"stationary and the bed goes back and forth and then your x goes you know left","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":100.159,"end_s":106.479,"text":"and right with this one the x and y moves and then the bed goes up and down","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":104.88,"end_s":110.479,"text":"itself shouldn't really move this you saw that light come on","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":108.32,"end_s":114.399,"text":"it's bad for it this style is slightly different in that it has two independent","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":113.2,"end_s":120.88,"text":"axes here probably two motors on each side it","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":118.0,"end_s":123.84,"text":"looks like yeah the motor is actually on the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":121.68,"end_s":128.56,"text":"x gantry here so we have our x gantry here and our y gantry here this has a","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":126.479,"end_s":134.16,"text":"full direct drive extruder so you're going to get a lot of performance out of","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":130.399,"end_s":135.44,"text":"the extruder rather than speed and","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":134.16,"end_s":140.879,"text":"should be nice and quiet for those of you that don't know direct drive extruder compared to a standard bowden","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":138.879,"end_s":146.0,"text":"style extruder there's actually a motor up top here that pushes the plastic","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":143.36,"end_s":149.36,"text":"right next to the nozzle rather than having this tube which is where your","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":147.599,"end_s":153.28,"text":"filament is going to come from be at the back so the extruder motor is not on the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":151.44,"end_s":157.8,"text":"back of the unit flashboard says that this extruder will do up to 260 degrees","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":155.92,"end_s":162.64,"text":"which is quite nice you can do your p-e-t-g's and your nylons at that sort","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":160.64,"end_s":167.36,"text":"of temperature it looks like a 4.4 millimeter brass nozzle so you're going","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":165.36,"end_s":171.36,"text":"to be able to do your your standard materials if you want to do weird things","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":168.959,"end_s":175.519,"text":"like wood infill or carbon fiber type of filaments then you'll just have to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":172.8,"end_s":179.92,"text":"upgrade it to a hardened steel nozzle moving around to the back of the printer","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":176.959,"end_s":184.239,"text":"it's all completely closed off so we can definitely have this against a wall if","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":181.599,"end_s":188.0,"text":"you wanted to and our little filament holder i think","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":186.319,"end_s":191.76,"text":"the slots in here yeah that's nice and easy and so that","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":190.08,"end_s":196.0,"text":"goes on there looks like it comes with a borosilicate","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":193.76,"end_s":200.56,"text":"glass bed i mean i would assume so i hope so and it has this really really","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":197.84,"end_s":205.92,"text":"nice textured nanodot surface on the top advantage of using glass beds is that","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":203.28,"end_s":209.68,"text":"it's perfectly flat so there's no sort of undulations your first layers adhere","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":207.84,"end_s":213.28,"text":"really well and they've also sent along what looks like a textured metal bed","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":211.599,"end_s":217.519,"text":"this one feels really nice it's a nice smooth metal texture the nice thing","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":215.519,"end_s":220.959,"text":"about having a flexible bed is you can peel this off the printer and then just","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":219.36,"end_s":224.879,"text":"pop your parts out really easily it comes with this big magnet on the back","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":223.36,"end_s":229.12,"text":"here and it seems to have a self-adhesive tape i think i'm going to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":226.879,"end_s":232.319,"text":"try it on the glass it's not running on linear rails it's just those ball tube","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":231.36,"end_s":238.159,"text":"things which have a very very nice","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":235.439,"end_s":243.439,"text":"light oil on them from factory which is good get that out oh it even comes with","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":241.12,"end_s":246.72,"text":"extra nozzles this is awesome what would you like to print oh i had what i want","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":244.959,"end_s":249.68,"text":"to print i even found a print file really there's a little frog with a","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":248.08,"end_s":253.4,"text":"cowboy hat that's so cute we're definitely doing that","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":254.799,"end_s":257.439,"text":"oh god","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":258.56,"end_s":264.639,"text":"i love that looks like it is a touch screen nice and responsive which is good","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":262.24,"end_s":268.36,"text":"it's good as a home ready see how loud it is","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":269.199,"end_s":274.4,"text":"holy whisper quiet it's incredibly affordable if you're going to put it in","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":272.56,"end_s":279.04,"text":"a school or if you had a younger kid at home who wanted to get into learning how","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":276.479,"end_s":283.199,"text":"to use 3d printers this seems like a good model for that the build volume is","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":281.36,"end_s":288.96,"text":"quite reasonable as well pretty standard 200 millimeters high of build volume by","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":286.16,"end_s":293.6,"text":"believe it's 190 in the x direction and 195 in the y direction oh yeah that's","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":291.68,"end_s":297.52,"text":"right it's got a light in the top of it i love that it's got wi-fi it's got","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":295.6,"end_s":302.16,"text":"languages it's got a buzzer i definitely want the buzzer on that sweet what does","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":299.44,"end_s":308.12,"text":"the level do what's gonna happen okay let's see if it's gonna crash","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":304.479,"end_s":308.12,"text":"oh it did not","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":310.72,"end_s":317.039,"text":"uh click the arrow to adjust the platform so that it just touches the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":314.72,"end_s":321.44,"text":"nozzle so now we're setting our z-axis offset raise this platform and sit by","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":319.6,"end_s":326.24,"text":"the side of it till we get next to it this is way easier","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":323.6,"end_s":329.759,"text":"than having to adjust yourself manually because we only have two adjustment","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":327.759,"end_s":333.6,"text":"knobs on the front and none at the back it went to the center here","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":331.52,"end_s":337.52,"text":"and then we got it to touch and so now what i think it wants me to do is turn","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":335.52,"end_s":342.16,"text":"the knob there you go unscrew the corresponding nut under platform until","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":340.16,"end_s":345.52,"text":"touching the nozzle so we are touching it right now so i'm just going to bring","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":343.759,"end_s":348.639,"text":"this corner down by unscrewing the nozzle no tightening the nozzle","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":347.52,"end_s":353.84,"text":"tightening the nozzle brings the platform away from the nozzle and i'm just looking at the light through it and","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":352.08,"end_s":359.039,"text":"i'm just going to undo it bringing the platform up and just till i can't see","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":356.16,"end_s":362.0,"text":"the nozzle anymore there we go next this is so much easier than what i have","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":360.16,"end_s":366.479,"text":"to do at home i'm jealous there's the other side is","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":364.24,"end_s":369.6,"text":"done so that was incredibly easy to level this bed let's open up some","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":368.0,"end_s":373.759,"text":"filament this is my favorite part of opening filament is the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":371.68,"end_s":378.96,"text":"fun noise are you ready for the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":376.4,"end_s":378.96,"text":"didn't do it","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":379.6,"end_s":386.319,"text":"never let go of the end ever ever because it will get all tangled up and","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":384.16,"end_s":390.16,"text":"you'll ruin your life and it looks like the path is going to come up this side","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":388.0,"end_s":396.08,"text":"so i'm going to put my filament here and just stuff it in there and you go","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":393.039,"end_s":398.24,"text":"nice like siliconized type tube thing","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":396.08,"end_s":402.24,"text":"that's not bad at all there's a lot of space in between there i would prefer a","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":400.16,"end_s":406.84,"text":"tighter bowden tube everybody likes a tight bowden tube blue","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":405.36,"end_s":411.12,"text":"i loaded white filament i guess they test them at the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":408.96,"end_s":416.88,"text":"factory with blue or something like that test file we have a tool changing and a","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":414.479,"end_s":420.88,"text":"file connect filter connect it's got a nice little display here of what you're","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":419.12,"end_s":424.24,"text":"about to print including the time how much filament it's going to use the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":422.56,"end_s":429.199,"text":"layer height and the speed that it's going to print at there there we go oh he's so cute this","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":428.08,"end_s":433.12,"text":"is going to be quite a challenging print for this","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":431.36,"end_s":436.4,"text":"printer i don't think i can print this i'm just going to use their default","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":434.479,"end_s":443.599,"text":"settings i think that's pretty important to start with default extruder width 0.4","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":440.639,"end_s":446.72,"text":"pla a little cold maybe we'll we'll try that","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":444.56,"end_s":451.36,"text":"layer height is .18 as a default which is pretty detailed","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":448.479,"end_s":454.72,"text":"normally i print it like point three because i want my prints now not in five","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":453.039,"end_s":458.319,"text":"hours so we'll see how the default settings look and see how fast it prints","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":456.72,"end_s":462.4,"text":"and see if it even sticks to the bed so we're gonna start with homing oh nice","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":460.56,"end_s":466.8,"text":"look it's got a little picture of the froggy make sure our build plate's clean","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":464.879,"end_s":470.72,"text":"don't use your hand you'll get oils on it use a cloth or something nice slow","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":468.96,"end_s":474.72,"text":"first layer it's quiet apart from the fans but","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":473.44,"end_s":478.479,"text":"look at that it's doing the outline of the the froggy","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":477.039,"end_s":481.919,"text":"there legs i hope you guys weren't trying to do anything oh cool yeah we're","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":480.16,"end_s":485.36,"text":"filming a ShortCircuit no you're not since when do we 3d print things on","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":483.44,"end_s":488.879,"text":"ShortCircuit Dan what are you doing i'm doing a ShortCircuit i'm sure this","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":487.199,"end_s":493.84,"text":"table is really stable enough for 3d printing","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":490.84,"end_s":495.919,"text":"yeah now that we're through the first","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":493.84,"end_s":499.919,"text":"layer speeds have improved quite a lot this is just our our basic speeds the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":498.4,"end_s":505.28,"text":"travel moves are looking pretty nice and fast it's whisper quiet apart from the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":502.639,"end_s":510.8,"text":"layer fan and the power supply fan infill looks good all the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":508.16,"end_s":515.839,"text":"lines look good i'm not noticing too much over extrusion or under extrusion","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":513.44,"end_s":519.68,"text":"on the first layer a little bit of wispy on one of the feet during one of the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":517.68,"end_s":522.719,"text":"travel moves but it was quite slow so i would certainly suggest playing around","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":520.959,"end_s":525.839,"text":"with your slicer settings first one of the features that i want to try is the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":524.8,"end_s":530.88,"text":"um Linus protection feature","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":528.48,"end_s":533.76,"text":"where he comes and trips over my cord like oh no and now the power's come back","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":533.04,"end_s":540.16,"text":"on so let's see what happens will it recover","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":536.88,"end_s":541.44,"text":"it's a boy frog yes","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":540.16,"end_s":546.959,"text":"oh here we go resume the uncompleted print job yes","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":544.399,"end_s":551.68,"text":"please well would you look at that now many printers have","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":548.56,"end_s":553.76,"text":"uh resumed from failure state is it just","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":551.68,"end_s":558.8,"text":"continuing yeah it finished that bit of infill there this is great and we're","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":555.76,"end_s":560.72,"text":"back after only an hour and a half and","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":558.8,"end_s":564.959,"text":"maybe four days later my beard's a little longer and i've got a different","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":562.16,"end_s":569.68,"text":"shirt on our little frog friend is done look at that one thing that i wanted to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":566.959,"end_s":574.399,"text":"test now is the release of this interesting little glass surface so","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":572.88,"end_s":579.36,"text":"just by grabbing him from his hat let's see how easy he pops off if we have to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":576.72,"end_s":584.32,"text":"use a spatula or anything look at that nice and released not a huge level of","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":582.16,"end_s":587.36,"text":"surface defects in the base no","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":585.2,"end_s":590.88,"text":"real elephant's feet around the edge which is when you get a","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":589.04,"end_s":595.12,"text":"little bit of a lip around the side maybe some of it","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":592.72,"end_s":599.04,"text":"but i only bed leveled it in like five seconds so this is looking pretty good","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":597.279,"end_s":603.839,"text":"yeah a little partner there so we'll put him aside and move on to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":601.68,"end_s":608.64,"text":"some of the other things i'm a little bit concerned that the hotend assembly","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":606.24,"end_s":612.48,"text":"and most of this is proprietary unupgradable unrepairable for yourself","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":610.959,"end_s":615.6,"text":"and if you want to be learning about 3d printers you're going to be wanting to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":614.079,"end_s":619.2,"text":"do your own maintenance and repairing it yourself so one of the things that's","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":617.6,"end_s":622.8,"text":"interesting about 3d printing is you can change a lot just by changing the nozzle","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":621.2,"end_s":627.68,"text":"and if you have to buy all of them from flashforge then you're limiting yourself","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":624.88,"end_s":631.839,"text":"to some fun exotics that you might not get access to if flashforge flashforge artemis a cube style 3d printer i don't know where to go from here you thought all i knew about was crappy RGB and crappy soundbar speakers but i can print a thing or two as well flashforge the sponsor this video has sent us over one of their new printers the artemis it's a little bit different from some of the other printers available on the market i'm not entirely sure how it operates or what kind it is i know it's a big cube it's quite exciting instructions and things like that and it also looks like we've got the bed we'll be looking at that a bit later i was just gonna say yeah it's quite hefty i'll tell you that oh it's so orange i love it i just immediately rip all the cables out good job Dan so this piece of foam just holds the head and carriage in there from moving around got a whole bunch of zap straps and things we got to get out too oh look they've sent us two full spools of filament that's really nice actually white pla and a black pla i think we'll go with white it's all really nice and neat if i'm honest oh this is going to be sick look at this thing seems like the frame is really nice and sturdy this style's different because it's a cube most of the other ones are like an upside down t-style printer we generally measure the printers in in this direction so you've got your zed travel here then your x travel and then your y travels this way on traditional printers which were like a reprap style something like that the y-axis stays stationary and the bed goes back and forth and then your x goes you know left and right with this one the x and y moves and then the bed goes up and down itself shouldn't really move this you saw that light come on it's bad for it this style is slightly different in that it has two independent axes here probably two motors on each side it looks like yeah the motor is actually on the x gantry here so we have our x gantry here and our y gantry here this has a full direct drive extruder so you're going to get a lot of performance out of the extruder rather than speed and should be nice and quiet for those of you that don't know direct drive extruder compared to a standard bowden style extruder there's actually a motor up top here that pushes the plastic right next to the nozzle rather than having this tube which is where your filament is going to come from be at the back so the extruder motor is not on the back of the unit flashboard says that this extruder will do up to 260 degrees which is quite nice you can do your p-e-t-g's and your nylons at that sort of temperature it looks like a 4.4 millimeter brass nozzle so you're going to be able to do your your standard materials if you want to do weird things like wood infill or carbon fiber type of filaments then you'll just have to upgrade it to a hardened steel nozzle moving around to the back of the printer it's all completely closed off so we can definitely have this against a wall if you wanted to and our little filament holder i think the slots in here yeah that's nice and easy and so that goes on there looks like it comes with a borosilicate glass bed i mean i would assume so i hope so and it has this really really nice textured nanodot surface on the top advantage of using glass beds is that it's perfectly flat so there's no sort of undulations your first layers adhere really well and they've also sent along what looks like a textured metal bed this one feels really nice it's a nice smooth metal texture the nice thing about having a flexible bed is you can peel this off the printer and then just pop your parts out really easily it comes with this big magnet on the back here and it seems to have a self-adhesive tape i think i'm going to try it on the glass it's not running on linear rails it's just those ball tube things which have a very very nice light oil on them from factory which is good get that out oh it even comes with extra nozzles this is awesome what would you like to print oh i had what i want to print i even found a print file really there's a little frog with a cowboy hat that's so cute we're definitely doing that oh god i love that looks like it is a touch screen nice and responsive which is good it's good as a home ready see how loud it is holy whisper quiet it's incredibly affordable if you're going to put it in a school or if you had a younger kid at home who wanted to get into learning how to use 3d printers this seems like a good model for that the build volume is quite reasonable as well pretty standard 200 millimeters high of build volume by believe it's 190 in the x direction and 195 in the y direction oh yeah that's right it's got a light in the top of it i love that it's got wi-fi it's got languages it's got a buzzer i definitely want the buzzer on that sweet what does the level do what's gonna happen okay let's see if it's gonna crash oh it did not uh click the arrow to adjust the platform so that it just touches the nozzle so now we're setting our z-axis offset raise this platform and sit by the side of it till we get next to it this is way easier than having to adjust yourself manually because we only have two adjustment knobs on the front and none at the back it went to the center here and then we got it to touch and so now what i think it wants me to do is turn the knob there you go unscrew the corresponding nut under platform until touching the nozzle so we are touching it right now so i'm just going to bring this corner down by unscrewing the nozzle no tightening the nozzle tightening the nozzle brings the platform away from the nozzle and i'm just looking at the light through it and i'm just going to undo it bringing the platform up and just till i can't see the nozzle anymore there we go next this is so much easier than what i have to do at home i'm jealous there's the other side is done so that was incredibly easy to level this bed let's open up some filament this is my favorite part of opening filament is the fun noise are you ready for the didn't do it never let go of the end ever ever because it will get all tangled up and you'll ruin your life and it looks like the path is going to come up this side so i'm going to put my filament here and just stuff it in there and you go nice like siliconized type tube thing that's not bad at all there's a lot of space in between there i would prefer a tighter bowden tube everybody likes a tight bowden tube blue i loaded white filament i guess they test them at the factory with blue or something like that test file we have a tool changing and a file connect filter connect it's got a nice little display here of what you're about to print including the time how much filament it's going to use the layer height and the speed that it's going to print at there there we go oh he's so cute this is going to be quite a challenging print for this printer i don't think i can print this i'm just going to use their default settings i think that's pretty important to start with default extruder width 0.4 pla a little cold maybe we'll we'll try that layer height is .18 as a default which is pretty detailed normally i print it like point three because i want my prints now not in five hours so we'll see how the default settings look and see how fast it prints and see if it even sticks to the bed so we're gonna start with homing oh nice look it's got a little picture of the froggy make sure our build plate's clean don't use your hand you'll get oils on it use a cloth or something nice slow first layer it's quiet apart from the fans but look at that it's doing the outline of the the froggy there legs i hope you guys weren't trying to do anything oh cool yeah we're filming a ShortCircuit no you're not since when do we 3d print things on ShortCircuit Dan what are you doing i'm doing a ShortCircuit i'm sure this table is really stable enough for 3d printing yeah now that we're through the first layer speeds have improved quite a lot this is just our our basic speeds the travel moves are looking pretty nice and fast it's whisper quiet apart from the layer fan and the power supply fan infill looks good all the lines look good i'm not noticing too much over extrusion or under extrusion on the first layer a little bit of wispy on one of the feet during one of the travel moves but it was quite slow so i would certainly suggest playing around with your slicer settings first one of the features that i want to try is the um Linus protection feature where he comes and trips over my cord like oh no and now the power's come back on so let's see what happens will it recover it's a boy frog yes oh here we go resume the uncompleted print job yes please well would you look at that now many printers have uh resumed from failure state is it just continuing yeah it finished that bit of infill there this is great and we're back after only an hour and a half and maybe four days later my beard's a little longer and i've got a different shirt on our little frog friend is done look at that one thing that i wanted to test now is the release of this interesting little glass surface so just by grabbing him from his hat let's see how easy he pops off if we have to use a spatula or anything look at that nice and released not a huge level of surface defects in the base no real elephant's feet around the edge which is when you get a little bit of a lip around the side maybe some of it but i only bed leveled it in like five seconds so this is looking pretty good yeah a little partner there so we'll put him aside and move on to some of the other things i'm a little bit concerned that the hotend assembly and most of this is proprietary unupgradable unrepairable for yourself and if you want to be learning about 3d printers you're going to be wanting to do your own maintenance and repairing it yourself so one of the things that's interesting about 3d printing is you can change a lot just by changing the nozzle and if you have to buy all of them from flashforge then you're limiting yourself to some fun exotics that you might not get access to if flashforge doesn't provide you with that type of nozzle there's one thing that i'd like to have a look at is how they're doing their motor drivers if it's an all-in-one system which you can't replace if one of them burns out you've got to buy a whole new main board or if they're standard drop-in styles that you could experiment with try different ones yeah i'm just a dumbass our motherboard is this nice little green board here this is our power supply we've got our z-axis motor here and this is the assembly for the nice little touch screen that plays songs at the front looks like our motor drivers are all soldered onto the motherboard so you won't get any chance to upgrade that they've all got some pretty nice heatsinks on there which is good we've got a little 40 millimeter fan which is nice and easily accessible here looks like we've got some extra ports here for a couple more things maybe sensors there's a secondary fan port here so you could put another one somewhere else if you were into that okay we're back on the top side now i want to have a look at how this hot end assembly is put together let's ruin this printer okay i was wrong they're not linear bearings they're actually bronze bushings which is very interesting i don't think i've seen that in a printer before they should just pop out quite easily then it looks like they're held in by just pressure snap yeah there we go those actually roll really smoothly they're silent there's no noise from them and the belt tensioning system here is just friction fit so that all comes out really nicely and our hot end assembly is out so easy there we go i'll just pull that out of the way and now we have access to our hot end assembly and just like that couple cables couple screws so i'm learning from Linus uh just like that we've got our hot end assembly it's really nice all in one almost plug and play style thing got our layer fan here which is pointed sort of directly at the silicon sock which is a odd choice i'd like to see that a little bit lower maybe and there's our led and we've got a little plug-in driver board here which is basically just uh making everything plug in easily so that this main cable can send it all back to the brains looks like our nozzle is going to go all the way through that and butt up against the top of the heat break there it's a really nice little assembly i think it's not very heavy it's pound after ripping apart the hot end assembly which actually wasn't that difficult um we found a couple interesting little notes of things nozzles are a weird size but seem very easy to install and remove the x carriage is not supported on linear bearings but bronze bushings which is a very interesting choice it seems to run nice and smooth and true and they're really easy to take in and out there is a separate control board right on top which is basically just a bunch of plugs that transfer everything over to this data cable for power and sensors and the little light underneath it's it's quite elegant honestly i do like the fact that it sings that's pretty cool you can get in there nice and easy it seems well built all the plastic injection parts on the hot end assembly and underneath seem to have heat set inserts which is really nice so you can be taking this apart constantly without having to worry about the plastic tearing out i think if you're not really into doing much of the tinkering or if you really don't want to get into the mechanicals of how a 3d printer works and be changing out parts and worrying about that if you just want something that prints reliably and quickly-ish if you want to be playing with settings i think this printer is a really really good offering in the space it's quite competitive at the 600-ish us dollar price range and this one i think fits into that very nicely for once uh i'm actually quite impressed with the printer of this caliber it's uh it's real sturdy and i really like it thanks to flash ford for sponsoring this video if you liked it throw a like downstairs and uh yeehaw in the comments for our little froggy friend"}
