So, when we saw the Kickstarter for uh the portable keyboard monitor, we had to get it. It seems like the obvious decision. It's got 10 years of craftsmanship. It's a classic release. I don't know if it's classic, but you know what you can do on it? Work, entertainment, and gaming. All of it. all of it in this one package. That only cost us, I think, around $250, which seems reasonable. However, if you're buying this now, it's a lot more than that. I'll get to the price later, but it's it's a lot more. Um, I like the packaging so far, although they're using this uh foam that I'm not crazy about. This is slim. Okay. Is there anything else in here? We've got our user manual. And the nice thing is, if you're on Mac, you don't require a driver. If you're on desktop, uh, you have to get the display link driver. We also got a nice USBC cable. USBC to A. They've also included a USBC to C cable. No idea what the rating is on it cuz it's not printed on here. You want a good USB cable? LTOre.com. We got true spec cables. They're very nice. You guys bought them all, so I don't have any. I'm upset. That's okay. I'll get some later. Let's take this thing out of the packaging. I still have yet to see it. It's pretty hefty, but it also is very slim. AND OH, like all good things in life, it folds. Wow, that's actually pretty sick. Is there a little screen protector on here that I can peel off? Like honestly, if this thing if you could fit a power brick, like if you could put a battery maybe in this top half here or like maybe extend it just a little bit, it's going to be a pretty sweet little laptop. I don't understand why more people don't do this. All right, let's weigh this bad boy. 2.5 lb. Honestly, yeah, it's about right. There's a couple of feet on the back here there. you know, since it doesn't have some in the front, it's probably going to move around on you a little bit. Um, the hinge is actually pretty good. And it goes flat. Okay. Hell yeah. Or pretty close to flat. Yeah, I do worry that without those extra feet, it could might move around a little bit. I would like some uh just on the front here as well. Um or maybe do a full bar across the back instead of just these two little guys here. Uh, as for screws though, you know, they're all visible, but they're all sunk nice and deep, so they're not going to jut out anywhere. It seems very uh put together. One thing that I'm kind of concerned about is we've got two USB ports here. One looks like power and one is USB 3.0, I'm guessing, for data, for the screen or something maybe. I'm not sure. I kind of wish the screen was like its own separate entity that you could then fully detach and put it somewhere else and you just get the two of them as a package and you can attach it on the hinge if you want to. Um, but I don't think that's the case. Uh, so far just from handling it a bit, my fingerprints are not really being left here, which is great. I got some greasy mits and they're Yeah, they're really not doing anything. Like, this looks pretty clean still, no matter what way you shine the light on. It's not perfect. It is smudging up, but like that's a worst case scenario with the light on it like that. I'm looking at the top down right now and yeah, look, that looks okay. Back also looks great. I think it would look cooler personally if it was all just like, you know, two pieces and that's it. But right now, it looks like kind of three pieces. Uh, one thing I also like is that it's got some nice little feet here on the bottom to make sure that you're not going to crush your screen into anything. The switches are just pretty typical scissor switches. It feels okay, honestly. I like little chicklet style keyboards. This thing is a little small though, I will say. Like, we'll do the typing test in a bit, but um I've got a feeling I'm going to make a bunch of mistakes cuz yeah, it does feel a little cramped. So going from here to here is 1 2 3 4 5 cm. And then if [music] we check our Logitech keyboard, 1 2 3 4 5 6 and a bit. So an extra centimeter and a bit. So call me crazy, but it is a little smaller and so that might be a bit more cramped for your fingies as you're trying to type hastily. They say that this is a prograde screen with crisp clarity. And uh honestly, it is like 160 PPI, so you know, it could be higher, but that's more than most displays people are looking at, even at 4K. So yeah, this is like honestly pretty sick. They're advertising 72% of NTSC coverage, which isn't really a thing over here anymore. It's kind of about 100% sRGB, but like not really because color spaces, you know, they don't really always fit perfectly into each other. Um, but it's similar to that. It's close enough. So, yeah, overall it actually looks pretty good. It's also a 10finger touch screen, so yeah, it is sick. Okay, I can pause. Wait, can I pause? Pause. My controls down here are like super cut off, so using it for YouTube is actually kind of tough. Like, I don't I can't hit the pause button no matter how hard I may try. There's no brightness claim on their website, but like honestly, this is getting bright enough for me to use as a second screen. But let's get to what you guys really crave. We're going to do the typing test, and I'm going to do it on this screen. Okay, gamers. Now, you can see and I can see. Uh, time to try this thing. I am terrified it's going to be really bad because even like even the spacing between my hands, like between where F and J go, I feel like there should be a whole extra key there. I like condensed layouts a little bit. Like KBD19X is one of my favorite keyboards of all time. And um I hate really tiny back spaces. It's one thing I just I know muscle memory will probably fix that over time, but I just I struggle with it so much. I'm trying to press over here and then I press there and it's not good in terms of type feel and how it, you know, just [music] sounds and feels to type on. It's fine. It's like a It's basically like a little chicklet keyboard um with scissor switches and like I don't hate it. But as a full package, it just seems like like why, you know? I if you're getting this, why not just get a laptop at that point? Maybe I'm crazy. Maybe this isn't for this, you know, maybe this is like your main keyboard [music] and then this is hooked up to a desktop and then you've got like this little screen here and then you've got a big monitor here. That's kind of cool and I could see that as like a really interesting [music] use case. And then hey, you want to pack this up and take it somewhere. Well, it's easy. You close it, you unplug it, and you take it away. Um, but little screens about this aspect ratio and size already exist. And you know, they're already they're on their own, too. they're not stuck on this hinge and you can take them off and put them wherever you want. So, if you want to do that setup, why don't you just buy a keyboard, buy one of those little screens and then have your monitor and everything like, I don't know. You know what? Maybe I'm an idiot and maybe that's just not the right use case and maybe it's really for like gamers. All right, we've got our Xbox Ally X. Uh, they did show someone doing something like this in their promotional material on the Kickstarter web page. Yo, it actually worked just fine. didn't have to install that display driver at all. It's almost the same size. [laughter] Like, yeah, it's bigger for sure. For sure it's bigger, but like it's not it's not that much bigger. I don't know. I don't know if I'd bother with this system either. I guess it makes things a little easier. Like I can, you know, hit here and then I can search for like uh Final Fantasy and, you know, that's easier than if I tried to like touch type away at some stupid uh set of letters. So, that's kind of nice. But, I mean, I don't know. Do I like I could just plug a keyboard into this thing. I don't need a whole second screen to do that. If you don't have either of these plugged into a separate power source now, you're going to drain your battery on your handheld even faster because you're hooked up to a keyboard and a screen, and both of those are going to suck back some juice. So, um I don't know, guys. We call this series kick farted for a reason. It's so cool in theory, and like it's not even a bad product, honestly. Like, the screen looks decent enough. The keyboard felt okay to type on. Um the construction is like pretty solid. Honestly, it feels good. And um I I don't think they've made any mistakes. I just [music] I don't understand who it's for. You know, it's like one of those things where like people get in their mind like, \"Oh, I want this use case. Like I have this use case for this thing and I want a product. Other people must have that as well. I'm going to build this product.\" Okay. I'm not using it. I am just playing Hades on it to, you know, give you guys a good view here. Yeah.
