This is a limited edition version of these glasses and it's the actually the only one that's available as of filming. It comes in white with gold uh lenses and we'll get into uh looking at the actual glasses themselves. I just want to see what's in this box first. There's other non-limited edition versions coming soon. This one is $500 and the other ones are going to be $400 and the regular Ray-B bands are $300. There's a lot of questions here about what exactly you're getting for that sequential uh additional $100, but you get a cleaning cloth with this one anyway. And this charging case is actually pretty nice. It's bigger than the charging case that came with the uh original Meta Ray-B bands, and it has a bigger battery inside. It'll it'll store 48 hours of charge in here, and I believe the other one only stores 38. This will last for 8 hours of general use. So, I think they said 5 hours of music playback and an hour and a half of video recording. So, that's one of the big benefits you're getting over the original Meta Ray Bands is longer battery life. And the other big benefit you're getting is 3K video recording. Did you hear that? Did you hear all those noises? Cuz I did. There's speakers in here. But before I get a bit too lost in the uh AI sauce here, let's take a physical tour of these glasses. So, on the front, let's just start with these lenses. Okay. I want to start right off with these because people are saying that they make things like HD in the world. They're polarized, okay? And they have this kind of like gold tint on them. What they do is they basically take away the glare, any glare from the sun or light sources so that you can see things clearer than you would if there was a bunch of glare in your face. So that is one way in which it could make things clearer. Uh the other way is through this like chromatic some kind of color filter which does make some colors pop a little bit more green on plants and stuff especially outside in the sun. Like you take these off and they look a little bit more gray. You put them on and you're like, \"Wow, that's really green.\" They're pretty cool. I don't know if they're worth another $100 on top of the regular design that's going to be available shortly, but or maybe they're already available by the time this video comes out. But anyway, on the front here, we got what you might think are two. Oh, we're recording right now. And it's recording me uh without my consent, frankly. This is the LED indicator over here that tells you whether you're tells other people whether you're taking a picture or recording. Over here is the actual camera. So, it's a 12 megapixel sensor and it can output images and video at a resolution of 3024 by 4032. Apparently, the old Meta Ray-B bands could do images at that res resolution, but not video. Now, this thing can do video, but they're calling it 3K video. I mean, you can't call it 4K. There is a 4032 in there, but you know what? It's detailed under that uh distinctive nose bridge. Uh there you can see the uh charging contacts. Oh, and I just took another photo. We're going to have so many good photos by the end of this. That's a mic in there, apparently. Uh I don't know whether that's in contact. fact. I mean, it depends on the your nose shape, I guess, if I if I It's probably a pretty good location for that. Honestly, most of my audio comes out through my nose. On this side, we have the Oakley logo. And then over here, there's a touch pad. You can tap to pause or play whatever music or audio you have going on. And swipe forward to volume up, swipe backward to volume down. Did I get that right? There's like a small pinhole in the Oakley logo. >> Oh, so there is. Oh, that's another microphone. Oakley is listening. Okay. Apparently, there's a five mic array on this thing. That's way more microphones than I thought there would ever be. On the bottom, you have these two microphones as well. So, you got one, two, three, four, and the Oakley logos. And then your nose hole is the last the least important one. Okay. So, you can just take that out of the video. While we're looking at the bottom here, you got speaker grills. Uh, one here, one there, and then you also have two on the top of the arms. And then on the top here, we have the capture button. So, you click that once to take a photo, hold it to take a video, tap it again to stop. Oh, and this is interesting. That's the power button. They don't they don't tell you to use that really, but you can like switch it off and switch it on manually like that. I don't think they want you to do that though because they want to control. They want to know what you're doing at all times. Mark Mark just cares about you. And on this side, there's the uh notification LED. You saw it was green there for a second. This is this is the really impressive thing in this era of smart glasses that we have now. The arms feel a little bit chunkier than a normal pair of glasses, but they don't it weightwise. I you if you told me there was no electronics in here, I may believe you. This is the standard sunglasses weight test and it's passing. It's passing with flying colors. The the most controversial thing about these on the initial uh kind of walkthrough is just their overall shape and the way that they look and the color. Full disclosure, I went on a vacation recently and I I was going to try these out. I didn't. Why? because they look I I don't want to be walking around with my family looking like this. No offense, you know, if this is your look, but it's not mine. If you look at the product branding, it makes a little bit more sense for some of these kind of like border border dudes. If you're in like the extreme sports world and you know, it's all about kind of like these funky wacky glasses. These aren't even that funky though. So, it's like you're not going to get that many points for that. But, that's what they're that's who they're targeting. This is supposed to be like for the active crowd. The the original Ray-B bands are just kind of like, you know, normal sunglasses. Any any old schmuck could wear them, but these you can't be a normal schmuck. You got to be a special schmuck. That said, if you like these frames and Oakleys in general, but you don't want to look this special, you could. There are other colors coming that are kind of like a bit more drab, boring, really normal, you know, just the normalst colors you can think of. They have some of those. though. So, that's enough tangential stuff. Let's use them a little bit. The primary cool thing about these glasses and the Meta Ray-B bands are the fact that you can say, \"Hey, Meta, what's our sponsor today?\" Thanks to UG Green for sponsoring this video. Their new Nexo 100 W GAN charger has a nifty feature that makes it a fantastic travel wall adapter. A retractable cable built right in that's about 30 in long. That means you can charge one device with the full 100 watts of output without even needing to bring an extra cable. But if you got some extra cables, you have two additional USBC ports and a single USBA port allowing you to charge up to four devices all at once. Pick up one today. Here's a link in the description. >> Like uh the Meta Ray-B bands, Meta AI is uh you know, that's what's powering the AI smarts here. So, you have to be have it paired with the Meta AI app either on Android or iPhone. And you can use the Meta AI assistant to, you know, do things like that you could just do manually, like take a photo. Hey, Meta, take a photo. It did it. It does whatever I tell it to. Every time you capture something, that little popup shows up on the app and you have to dismiss it. It's like a That's a little annoying. Hey, Meta, record a video. Hi, guy. I can barely see you, but I'm assuming that the camera can see you a little bit better. I also took uh some sample videos from outside of this high contrast studio space. So, you can see what the video quality is there. As far as I can tell, the cameras do a pretty good job of like reproducing color and having some sharpness thanks to that 3K resolution, but it's not going to, you know, blow any phone cameras out of the water. At the same time though, it's on your head. So, that's a big benefit. One of the other few advantages that this has over the regular Meta Ray-B bands is that you are only able to record 30 seconds of video with those and you can do 3 minutes of video with these. You got 32 gigs of storage on board. You can also use Meta AI to do some practical things that you would want an AI assistant to do like play music. Hey Meta, play Crab Rave on Spotify. It's kind of funny having I got to take these off for a second. This is I don't like being in there. I gotta say like these are tiny little speakers and they do really well at at uh replicating kind of the upper end upper mids and and highs like a phone speaker, you know, but with a phone speaker, you can kind of be far away from it and the bad audio quality, you're kind of removed from it. With these, when you max out the volume, it's like trying so hard to have bass, but it's just not like instead of like a boom boom boom a bass, it's like that doesn't sound that bad to me actually. But regardless, they're serviceable. They're serviceable phone speakers. You know, if you put the volume at kind of like mid, like 75% uh you're going to have a fine time. They're not going to block anything out when you're like if you're cycling or something. They're virtually no noise isolation and they're not like bone conducting like aftershocks or whatever. so they don't like go inside your skull. But, uh, yeah, for just casually listening to something, maybe while you're driving, pretty good. Taking the glasses off will actually pause the music as well. Kind of the standard thing you have now with like Bluetooth ear sets, uh, headsets, because that's basically what this acts as. You can play any audio through it. It'll just act like a Bluetooth speaker, but it also has these specific integrations like Spotify is a specific integration in the Meta AI experience. Connected apps. So, I connected Spotify as a connected app. So, I can call up Spotify specifically by name with Meta to say, \"Play this thing on Spotify.\" I guess you can also connect Amazon Music or Shazam, but you can't connect YouTube music, Apple Music. That's kind of lame. However, you can use those apps and play the audio through the speakers on the glasses. You just can't have the official integration. But that got me thinking. Can you use Meta AI as the default AI assistant app instead of Google Assistant or or Bixby? I think Bixby isn't a thing anymore. Or is it? I don't know. Tell me in the comments. And you can. You can uh choose for Meta AI to be your Android assistant instead of Google Assistant. But as far as I can tell, that still doesn't allow you to do things like call up specific apps like Google Maps to say like, \"Oh, make, you know, like Google Assistant, you could be like, \"Give me directions to this place.\" Where's Meta AI? Open the Meta AI app because apparently it wants this app to be open anytime you do something like that. Hey, Meta, give me directions to Vancouver on Google Maps. >> I can tell you how far away something is or how long it will take to get there, but I can't help with directions. How long will it take to get to Vancouver? >> To continue, go to settings on your phone and make sure location access for the Meta AI app is set to always and that precise location is turned on. >> Pretty sure I did set it to always, but >> are you still listening? >> No, >> that's a little concerning honestly. So, in my testing before this, I tried to see how long it would kind of carry on a how many turns it would carry on a conversation for. And it seemed like if you first said the words, \"Hey, Meta,\" it would listen and then you talk and then it would reply and then I could reply one more time and then it would reply again and then after that it would stop. But this time I was just like, \"Are you still listening?\" It's like, \"No.\" Well, that's a limitation. I feel like with these AI assistants, I the main thing that I have an issue with is when they make it seem like you can do all of these things. You can ask it to look something up. You can ask it questions. You can ask it to write a poem. Why are we trying to get people to use all these AI assistants when they can't even do things that Google Assistant could do like 10 years ago? I don't even know at this point. Again, I can't I keep I don't feel comfortable wearing those. Now, what Google Assistant cannot do, at least in a first-party glasses device yet, is just live on your head and look around at stuff and answer questions about the world. You can do multimodal input with, you know, if you use the Gemini app and the chat GPT app can do this too where you like take a picture with your phone and stuff, but like we're talking about smart glasses. This is kind of the whole use case we want to use them for. So, Meta AI can look at things. You can ask it to look at stuff and help you understand what the heck's going on. So, I got some math problems here. Okay, we're going to see. We're going to see how this goes. Hey, Meta, I don't understand math at all. Can you help me with these problems? >> The math problems appear to be a series of addition and multiplication exercises. Can you help me solve the first one? >> The first problem is A1 to three. >> No. Uh the the first one is the one on the left. Uh 12 + 6. You know that one. >> The answer to 12 + 6 is >> I knew it. I knew it. I I I always do this where I just assume that everybody does this. You assume that AI has more capability than it actually has because it's for some things it just blows your mind that it can just do that no problem. And for other things, it's like, what? You can't figure out that I'm talking about this one? I'll cover this. >> Hey, Meta, look at this math problem. >> The math problem is 12 + 6 >> divided by 6. You forgot that part. >> The correct calculation is 12. >> Well, it got there sort of. It was like the correct answer is 12 + 6 is blah blah blah divided by six. So, it did it did help me through it, but I had to help it. Anyways, that's not a great example. Here's another thing. It could maybe help you with if you're super super lazy and you don't want to read stuff. Here's an article on LT Labs which are exceptionally high quality and you should read from top to bottom and not use an AI to summarize. Hey Meta, is this a good mouse that I'm looking at right now through my camera? >> Yes, the Razer Pro Click 52 Vertical Edition is a high performance mouse designed for productivity and gaming. It features a 12,000 CPI optical sensor. Does it even say that on this page? I asked it, \"Is this a good mouse?\" And I assumed it would read what is on screen and tell me, \"Oh, this is what these people think of this mouse.\" But instead, it basically like saw the title of what the mouse is, and then it Googled something about it, which was its CPI count, which isn't even on this page. That's confusing, but it gave me some information about uh what I was looking at. So, you know, okay, the you know, again, as with all AI things, your mileage may vary. One of the actual useful things that uh these AI glasses from Meta can do is live translation. Oliver here speaks so many languages it it blows frankly his own mind. And he's going to speak to me in French. Are you like really really good at French? No. You're just okay. But it's good enough for this. Okay guys, chill. Are you ready? >> Uh not not yet. Help me, Oliver. I need to get around this area of the world in which they speak primarily French. Uh, >> where do you want to go? >> Oliver, do you know how to get to the museum? >> I don't know how you can go have fun, but you can try. >> And that's a lesson for all of us. France. >> It's been 8 years since I've been >> Oh, that did not get the whole thing. Wow. I was saying it's been 8 years since I've spoken. >> That's way too long. Yeah. >> 8 years since I've spoken. >> It's a vow of silence. Okay. Well, that wasn't the most uh that wasn't the most inspiring demo we've ever had. Um, I feel like the even G1 when you came and did the translation there, that was very cool. >> Yeah, but I said like three words. >> And also it had a display. So, as you were talking, I was just seeing what you were saying come up. This is like this is a little annoying because there's no display. So, that's the main problem with these glasses is the there's no display. It seemed like it wasn't really picking him up when I wasn't like facing him directly and then it kind of like lean I when I faced him it started picking them up like it's it's geared to pick up sound that's coming from right in front of you. I don't know. Okay, what are we going to do about these glasses? The AI stuff can be useful if you really only use the stuff that definitely works. Telling it to record a video. Like maybe you're looking at a monument and they're like, \"Hey, what am I looking at?\" and it could tell you, oh, it's the Arcta triumph or whatever. That can be useful if you want to do anything that like gets a little bit more complicated. If you want to do some things that assistants could do before the whole chat GPT LLM craze, you know, it it it can't really do that. But now that we have all of these different AIs, they have different ecosystems as well. And some of them can connect to your services, others can't. It's a bit annoying that every AI company is trying to like get their assistant in everybody in all these devices, but anytime you actually try to use them for something super useful, I don't want to get down on people who do use these things a lot because AI is in society now. People are using it. People I know who are not techy at all use it every day for stuff like teacher stuff. But yeah, I just want it to be more useful. If you're going to suck up all our data, if you're going to train on all this copyrighted content and we're going to change our entire copyright system legally for these AIs, like at least be super useful, at least do something for us. The one thing about these that I wanted to mention before we go is that they are IPX4 uh water and dust resistant. It's the same rating as the Meta uh Ray-B bands. Especially for these, it's nice to have because these are kind of marketed more towards the active. I just took another photo. The active sports crowd. So, uh, you know, get muddy, get wet. >> I don't think IPX4 is rated for like muddy and wet. It's for like light rain. >> Well, don't get too muddy wet. Get, uh, light rain. Just dance around if if nothing's stopping you. These are $500. Uh, there's $400 ones that are coming in different colors. Like I said, you know, I'm basically of the opinion that smart glasses will be worth it and cool and maybe I will want some when they can both do the AI stuff that these can do and have a screen in it. I really liked the Even G1. It didn't have some of the kind of like speaker enabled stuff that this can do. It couldn't play music. It had a mic so it could hear you. You could prompt it and then it would reply with stuff on the screen. So, when Meta can get their Orion glasses to market or Google, Google's look like they could be cool. And it would be extra super cool if you subscribe to ShortCircuit because this video is over. Thanks for watching. Go watch the even G1 video I did about those ones. Love"}
