I'll grab some sockets so that we can","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":121.88,"end_s":125.4,"text":"torque them down so we don't have to do it by hand and we've got five molds","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":125.4,"end_s":131.96,"text":"there. So they're a","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":150.48,"end_s":154.04,"text":"little bit too big. So what's the torque rating on these? When","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":207.12,"end_s":212.6,"text":"in doubt, use the biggest tool you have. So realistically what this means is if we only","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":212.72,"end_s":218.72,"text":"can apply five foot pounds of torque, we're not getting the full recommended, whatever","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":218.72,"end_s":222.92,"text":"it is, five or 10 tons of clamping force that you should on injection molding. Oh, I","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":231.92,"end_s":238.64,"text":"think that's too much. Wow, that's very low torque. It's not much. I sometimes just hand","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":238.68,"end_s":243.24,"text":"tighten it. I brought it as a joke, but now I'm actually surprised how little it takes.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":243.24,"end_s":254.36,"text":"It's not much. Now, if we 3D printed these solid or out of polycarbonate, maybe this is just","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":254.36,"end_s":265.6,"text":"PLA. Remember when I said these were fast? Three foot pounds. This wrench probably doesn't even do","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":265.64,"end_s":273.8,"text":"three foot pounds. Oh, there we go. Equipped. Three foot pound feels pretty good. That's what","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":273.8,"end_s":280.0,"text":"we're doing. All right. I'll make a note. Three foot foot pounds is the recommended torque. Yep.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":280.0,"end_s":285.32,"text":"We'll write that up in the owner's manual. Now, this is a process you could use for injection","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":285.32,"end_s":290.92,"text":"molding or prototyping lots of stuff. 3D printed mold, put the silicone in whatever shape you","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":290.92,"end_s":298.16,"text":"want. It doesn't have to be our design. It could be something else. Okay, I'm going to put away","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":298.16,"end_s":304.64,"text":"this thing. You having too much fun? Well, I accomplished one in the time that you did four.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":304.64,"end_s":311.48,"text":"So that's okay. Apparently sizes into everything. All right. This is probably when we should be","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":311.48,"end_s":318.28,"text":"putting on gloves because we're going to make a bit of a mess, I think. And what we're going to be","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":318.28,"end_s":326.68,"text":"doing is this silicone resin comes in two parts. There's the, I guess, part A it is. And then there's","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":326.68,"end_s":333.16,"text":"the small hardener, part B. And it's mixed at a 10 to 1 weight by weight ratio. So if you put in","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":333.16,"end_s":340.6,"text":"30 grams of this stuff, you'll want to put in 3 grams of the hardener. Okay. We've got the scale","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":340.6,"end_s":347.6,"text":"here. And I've got some nice little disposable cups that we can use for this. And I'll go grab one","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":347.6,"end_s":353.76,"text":"of our stirring rods to mix it all up afterward. These are stir rods and not skewers that might","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":353.76,"end_s":360.36,"text":"have been picked up at a grocery store. I have like a thousand dowel pins. You serious? Wooden","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":360.36,"end_s":366.36,"text":"dowel pins. Yeah, wooden dowels. Oh, nice. Are they stiff? Well, I bought them for exactly this.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":366.36,"end_s":376.8,"text":"There it is. So that's not a thousand, but those are great. Let's use those. All right. Yeah,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":376.8,"end_s":381.44,"text":"the resin is quite thick, or the silicone is quite thick. So having a stiffer stir rod is way nicer.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":381.44,"end_s":389.92,"text":"Okay. All right. So I'd say that this syringe, so what we're going to do after we mix it is we're","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":389.92,"end_s":393.92,"text":"going to put it in the syringe and then put it in the vacuum chamber, suck all the bubbles out,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":393.92,"end_s":400.0,"text":"essentially, and then immediately put the silicone into the molds. Now you don't want to fill this","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":400.0,"end_s":406.04,"text":"all the way to the top because as the bubbles are being released and you're degassing the silicone,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":406.28,"end_s":410.6,"text":"it's going to froth and it's going to expand. And if it's all the way to the top, it's going to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":410.6,"end_s":417.32,"text":"immediately expand out into our vacuum chamber, make a huge mess. So I'd say we should probably put","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":417.32,"end_s":423.72,"text":"in 15, maybe 20 milliliters and then hope that that's not going to expand all the way to the top.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":423.72,"end_s":430.92,"text":"It's a bit of a guessing game. We might overshoot. How about we do, it's 10 to 1. So what if we do","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":430.92,"end_s":437.0,"text":"20 grams of this and then 2 grams of the hardener and then that's 10 to 1, I think.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":438.52,"end_s":449.0,"text":"Yeah. So you'll want to mix this beforehand because sometimes some of the things can settle","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":449.0,"end_s":454.12,"text":"and it's good to have it nice and mixed. Wait, do we not have to use mold release in this?","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":454.6,"end_s":461.56,"text":"Yes, we should. So far it's been okay. All right. That's not actually always true. It's not always","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":461.56,"end_s":468.92,"text":"been okay. But I think we can risk it. All right. Yes, you should use mold release. You can use,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":468.92,"end_s":472.68,"text":"they've got these wax sprays that you could put on, but we'll have to remove all the bolts,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":472.68,"end_s":478.68,"text":"or you can use talcum powder is also good as well. For larger molds or for a resin that sticks really","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":478.68,"end_s":483.0,"text":"well, like fiberglass resin or a lot of other two-part epoxies, that's way more important.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":483.56,"end_s":489.24,"text":"This is silicone, which while it adheres relatively well to itself as it's curing,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":489.24,"end_s":493.24,"text":"silicone doesn't tend to adhere to other materials as easily. So you can peel it out","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":493.24,"end_s":500.6,"text":"pretty easily. It's sort of like if you're casting something soft, it's often a good","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":500.6,"end_s":504.68,"text":"idea to have a hard mold because it keeps it rigid. Whereas if you're casting something hard,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":505.32,"end_s":509.8,"text":"then it's a good idea to have a soft mold. So that's why if you wanted to cast a hard plastic","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":510.36,"end_s":514.52,"text":"resin, you might use a silicone mold. Whereas right now we're doing the reverse.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":515.8,"end_s":519.24,"text":"It makes it quite easy to remove things and then you can maintain good","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":520.6,"end_s":525.08,"text":"dimensional tolerances and it's great. All right. Will we have any shrink when it's in here?","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":527.96,"end_s":532.92,"text":"This stuff's pretty good. It doesn't shrink very much, but that hasn't really been much of an issue.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":533.16,"end_s":539.96,"text":"Okay. Yeah, I guess the dimensional tolerances of a joystick condom is not like a thousandth of an","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":539.96,"end_s":545.96,"text":"inch. Yeah, they've got to accommodate different sizes. Things shrink sometimes.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":547.56,"end_s":555.88,"text":"We'll have to make the magnum for like... Oh no. Yeah, big thrust master. That's definitely","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":555.88,"end_s":561.24,"text":"what it's going to be called. Your whole racing sim just encased in silicone.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":563.88,"end_s":568.68,"text":"All right. So this kind of flows like honey. So I can kind of just... Weird. I know. It is weird.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":570.84,"end_s":576.76,"text":"This scale only measures down to a gram. However, while this has a density that is very different","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":576.76,"end_s":583.56,"text":"from water, the hardener has a density that's very close to water. What that means is you can pretend","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":583.56,"end_s":592.12,"text":"that two milliliters is two grams. So I'm going to... Again, I'm cheating. It said you're supposed","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":592.2,"end_s":599.0,"text":"to measure weight by weight. We're going to do weight by volume mix. It's easier given the tools.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":599.56,"end_s":604.84,"text":"Should we just buy a better scale? Yes. I've requested one. Okay. It hasn't come in yet.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":605.88,"end_s":613.4,"text":"In fact, I've requested it twice. And then this syringe does... That's a one milliliter syringe.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":613.4,"end_s":617.8,"text":"So we can just fill it twice. And now that the hardener has been added to the silicone,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":618.44,"end_s":624.12,"text":"we're on a time limit. We could always just go back before this, but you're not going to get","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":624.12,"end_s":628.76,"text":"that out. And that silicone is going to harden in 12 hours. Oh, okay. So at this point, we need to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":630.76,"end_s":636.92,"text":"mix it, which is why the mixing stick is nice. Yeah, you can use that one. I found that mixing","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":636.92,"end_s":641.56,"text":"it gently at first and then more aggressively once it's a little bit mixed makes it easier than","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":641.56,"end_s":649.0,"text":"you don't splash the part two as much. You can't go wrong. Just mix it like crazy. Once the color","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":649.0,"end_s":653.64,"text":"is all pretty well blended, that should be good. However, since it's thicker, you're going to find","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":653.64,"end_s":659.88,"text":"that as you're mixing it, if you don't scrape the silicone right off the edges, the bottom and the...","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":660.84,"end_s":664.84,"text":"Can I call them walls of the cup? Then you're going to get silicone around the edge that is not","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":664.84,"end_s":672.12,"text":"mixed. Okay. If you have a clear cup, which we don't, then you can really see that well. And it","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":672.12,"end_s":681.72,"text":"looks a little bit like cosmopolitan ice cream. Oh, this is probably good. I'd say so. Yeah,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":681.72,"end_s":689.32,"text":"and then we can pour that in here. I'm letting you do it because I don't know how to do this well either.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":695.32,"end_s":697.08,"text":"Mmm, delicious.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":700.92,"end_s":702.44,"text":"The forbidden mint ice cream.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":704.76,"end_s":712.36,"text":"I wouldn't eat this, but okay. Is this food safe silicone or silicone?","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":715.56,"end_s":722.2,"text":"I'm pretty sure this stuff is tin cure, which is not. So it's fine to touch and handle once it's","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":722.28,"end_s":729.32,"text":"cured. There is other types of silicone that are platinum cured, and those tend to be a little bit","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":729.32,"end_s":735.24,"text":"safer if you're going to have them in contact with skin. I would need to check if they're food safe,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":735.24,"end_s":743.0,"text":"though. Okay. But this one is not. And even if it's food safe, you still shouldn't eat it.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":745.08,"end_s":749.24,"text":"Do we get a lot of it? There's only so much we're going to get. We might have to do this in","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":749.32,"end_s":755.08,"text":"multiple runs. No, we're doing it all at once. Let's do it. So the reason that we don't have just","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":755.08,"end_s":759.72,"text":"like a large plastic cup to do all of this at once and then put it in the syringe after?","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":761.0,"end_s":767.48,"text":"I found that the process of pouring it into the syringe adds a lot of bubbles to the silicone.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":768.44,"end_s":773.32,"text":"So you put it straight into here, you degas it in here, and then it immediately goes in there.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":773.32,"end_s":776.44,"text":"That makes sense. And then you don't have to have a transfer step.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":779.24,"end_s":780.92,"text":"There we go. And you can get a view from the top.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":789.48,"end_s":792.52,"text":"So hopefully we didn't overfill this because it's going to start to froth,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":793.08,"end_s":797.96,"text":"and the silicone is going to expand upward. And if we left enough space,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":797.96,"end_s":804.84,"text":"it will not expand out of the tube. If we didn't, then I've got more cleanup to do afterward.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":805.8,"end_s":813.64,"text":"Oh, perfect. Oh, yeah. Okay, cool. We're at a near vacuum. So I'm just going to hold that there","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":813.64,"end_s":819.96,"text":"and turn off the pump. A lot of these pumps can continuously drop vacuum, but this one,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":819.96,"end_s":827.08,"text":"it doesn't like to run for too long. All right. Okay, let's just let a bit of air out.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":829.8,"end_s":834.12,"text":"All right, collapse foam, and then we'll pull another vacuum. So when you collapse it,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":834.12,"end_s":839.64,"text":"the bubbles can just pop. All right. So what I just did is I just drew a vacuum.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":840.36,"end_s":846.04,"text":"Okay. Don't say so. That's illegal in this company. I'm sorry. So anyways.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":849.56,"end_s":854.28,"text":"Shoot, now I don't know how to start my second. What we just did was we drew a full vacuum,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":854.28,"end_s":861.64,"text":"then we released some of it, and that causes the bubbles to pop and disperse, and then they come out","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":861.64,"end_s":866.28,"text":"of the silicone, and then you can draw another vacuum just to get the rest of them. You chuck it in your backpack and then the stick gets all smashed around but we have a solution. Jacob here from Creator Warehouse has designed a condom that goes over this. Now we don't have full production yet so instead we're getting a little tutorial in plastic casting. Alright. Shall I take it away? I don't think you really need to. Okay. What exactly do we do? Alright so we're going to, I'd start with putting down a covering. So I've got some wax paper right here that we just put in our work area. Mostly so that's easier to clean up afterward. Isn't this like a cooking show? And the idea in general is we've got these molds. Now in production a mold would be made out of aluminum or steel or something but these little 3D printed molds work okay for small quantities and prototyping. What we're going to do is we're going to screw the molds together so that they don't come apart and then we're going to fill them with the silicone resin and the resin we're going to be using is this mold max 40 stuff. There's a lot of different options. I like mold max. It's the 40 stands for the hardness of it so the lower numbers tend to be a softer shore hardness and they're more like bubble gum or gummy bears whereas the harder ones are more like car rubber. So this stuff 40. It's a nice mix. I like it a lot. Let's take some bolts and put them through these holes and then we can screw nuts on the bottom base and torque it down so that we have a nice fit because if these, if the lids aren't tight then as we're injecting the resin the top is going to rise and we're going to get a bunch of flash around the edges. Oh yeah exactly. So got some nuts. I'll grab some sockets so that we can torque them down so we don't have to do it by hand and we've got five molds there. We prepared five for 3D printing. So you can get five of these guys. Cool. Yeah and it'll take about 24 hours for the resin to cure. This one doesn't want to go in. It's a bit of a stiff fit. I admit I designed that for m6 bolts which are six millimeters. Those are quarter inch bolts which are 6.35. So they're a little bit too big. So what's the torque rating on these? I'm guessing it's, you know, very specific. Low enough that we don't crush the plastic. Hmm. These are 3D printed. They're not steel. So torque to yield. Quarter turn, 94 pounds. Torque to I yield, you mean? Let's see here. I'm kind of curious now. What the torque is? If I had to guess, 10, 20. Yeah. Shall we run a destructive test and have four molds? Let's see how 10 feels. Okay. Need a wrench. What is this? 11? You could borrow. I like how we're using a torque wrench. When in doubt, use the biggest tool you have. So realistically what this means is if we only can apply five foot pounds of torque, we're not getting the full recommended, whatever it is, five or 10 tons of clamping force that you should on injection molding. But we're not getting that anyways because it's a plastic mold. Let's see. Five foot pounds. Oh, I think that's too much. Wow, that's very low torque. It's not much. I sometimes just hand tighten it. I brought it as a joke, but now I'm actually surprised how little it takes. It's not much. Now, if we 3D printed these solid or out of polycarbonate, maybe this is just PLA. Remember when I said these were fast? Three foot pounds. This wrench probably doesn't even do three foot pounds. Oh, there we go. Equipped. Three foot pound feels pretty good. That's what we're doing. All right. I'll make a note. Three foot foot pounds is the recommended torque. Yep. We'll write that up in the owner's manual. Now, this is a process you could use for injection molding or prototyping lots of stuff. 3D printed mold, put the silicone in whatever shape you want. It doesn't have to be our design. It could be something else. Okay, I'm going to put away this thing. You having too much fun? Well, I accomplished one in the time that you did four. So that's okay. Apparently sizes into everything. All right. This is probably when we should be putting on gloves because we're going to make a bit of a mess, I think. And what we're going to be doing is this silicone resin comes in two parts. There's the, I guess, part A it is. And then there's the small hardener, part B. And it's mixed at a 10 to 1 weight by weight ratio. So if you put in 30 grams of this stuff, you'll want to put in 3 grams of the hardener. Okay. We've got the scale here. And I've got some nice little disposable cups that we can use for this. And I'll go grab one of our stirring rods to mix it all up afterward. These are stir rods and not skewers that might have been picked up at a grocery store. I have like a thousand dowel pins. You serious? Wooden dowel pins. Yeah, wooden dowels. Oh, nice. Are they stiff? Well, I bought them for exactly this. There it is. So that's not a thousand, but those are great. Let's use those. All right. Yeah, the resin is quite thick, or the silicone is quite thick. So having a stiffer stir rod is way nicer. Okay. All right. So I'd say that this syringe, so what we're going to do after we mix it is we're going to put it in the syringe and then put it in the vacuum chamber, suck all the bubbles out, essentially, and then immediately put the silicone into the molds. Now you don't want to fill this all the way to the top because as the bubbles are being released and you're degassing the silicone, it's going to froth and it's going to expand. And if it's all the way to the top, it's going to immediately expand out into our vacuum chamber, make a huge mess. So I'd say we should probably put in 15, maybe 20 milliliters and then hope that that's not going to expand all the way to the top. It's a bit of a guessing game. We might overshoot. How about we do, it's 10 to 1. So what if we do 20 grams of this and then 2 grams of the hardener and then that's 10 to 1, I think. Yeah. So you'll want to mix this beforehand because sometimes some of the things can settle and it's good to have it nice and mixed. Wait, do we not have to use mold release in this? Yes, we should. So far it's been okay. All right. That's not actually always true. It's not always been okay. But I think we can risk it. All right. Yes, you should use mold release. You can use, they've got these wax sprays that you could put on, but we'll have to remove all the bolts, or you can use talcum powder is also good as well. For larger molds or for a resin that sticks really well, like fiberglass resin or a lot of other two-part epoxies, that's way more important. This is silicone, which while it adheres relatively well to itself as it's curing, silicone doesn't tend to adhere to other materials as easily. So you can peel it out pretty easily. It's sort of like if you're casting something soft, it's often a good idea to have a hard mold because it keeps it rigid. Whereas if you're casting something hard, then it's a good idea to have a soft mold. So that's why if you wanted to cast a hard plastic resin, you might use a silicone mold. Whereas right now we're doing the reverse. It makes it quite easy to remove things and then you can maintain good dimensional tolerances and it's great. All right. Will we have any shrink when it's in here? This stuff's pretty good. It doesn't shrink very much, but that hasn't really been much of an issue. Okay. Yeah, I guess the dimensional tolerances of a joystick condom is not like a thousandth of an inch. Yeah, they've got to accommodate different sizes. Things shrink sometimes. We'll have to make the magnum for like... Oh no. Yeah, big thrust master. That's definitely what it's going to be called. Your whole racing sim just encased in silicone. All right. So this kind of flows like honey. So I can kind of just... Weird. I know. It is weird. This scale only measures down to a gram. However, while this has a density that is very different from water, the hardener has a density that's very close to water. What that means is you can pretend that two milliliters is two grams. So I'm going to... Again, I'm cheating. It said you're supposed to measure weight by weight. We're going to do weight by volume mix. It's easier given the tools. Should we just buy a better scale? Yes. I've requested one. Okay. It hasn't come in yet. In fact, I've requested it twice. And then this syringe does... That's a one milliliter syringe. So we can just fill it twice. And now that the hardener has been added to the silicone, we're on a time limit. We could always just go back before this, but you're not going to get that out. And that silicone is going to harden in 12 hours. Oh, okay. So at this point, we need to mix it, which is why the mixing stick is nice. Yeah, you can use that one. I found that mixing it gently at first and then more aggressively once it's a little bit mixed makes it easier than you don't splash the part two as much. You can't go wrong. Just mix it like crazy. Once the color is all pretty well blended, that should be good. However, since it's thicker, you're going to find that as you're mixing it, if you don't scrape the silicone right off the edges, the bottom and the... Can I call them walls of the cup? Then you're going to get silicone around the edge that is not mixed. Okay. If you have a clear cup, which we don't, then you can really see that well. And it looks a little bit like cosmopolitan ice cream. Oh, this is probably good. I'd say so. Yeah, and then we can pour that in here. I'm letting you do it because I don't know how to do this well either. Mmm, delicious. The forbidden mint ice cream. I wouldn't eat this, but okay. Is this food safe silicone or silicone? I'm pretty sure this stuff is tin cure, which is not. So it's fine to touch and handle once it's cured. There is other types of silicone that are platinum cured, and those tend to be a little bit safer if you're going to have them in contact with skin. I would need to check if they're food safe, though. Okay. But this one is not. And even if it's food safe, you still shouldn't eat it. Do we get a lot of it? There's only so much we're going to get. We might have to do this in multiple runs. No, we're doing it all at once. Let's do it. So the reason that we don't have just like a large plastic cup to do all of this at once and then put it in the syringe after? I found that the process of pouring it into the syringe adds a lot of bubbles to the silicone. So you put it straight into here, you degas it in here, and then it immediately goes in there. That makes sense. And then you don't have to have a transfer step. There we go. And you can get a view from the top. So hopefully we didn't overfill this because it's going to start to froth, and the silicone is going to expand upward. And if we left enough space, it will not expand out of the tube. If we didn't, then I've got more cleanup to do afterward. Oh, perfect. Oh, yeah. Okay, cool. We're at a near vacuum. So I'm just going to hold that there and turn off the pump. A lot of these pumps can continuously drop vacuum, but this one, it doesn't like to run for too long. All right. Okay, let's just let a bit of air out. All right, collapse foam, and then we'll pull another vacuum. So when you collapse it, the bubbles can just pop. All right. So what I just did is I just drew a vacuum. Okay. Don't say so. That's illegal in this company. I'm sorry. So anyways. Shoot, now I don't know how to start my second. What we just did was we drew a full vacuum, then we released some of it, and that causes the bubbles to pop and disperse, and then they come out of the silicone, and then you can draw another vacuum just to get the rest of them. And usually, I'll do that a couple of times just to make sure all the bubbles are gone. Tasty. Now, this particular silicone cures pretty slowly, so we can do this fast. There are others where you can't take this much time, and you have to go quick. Is that condensation coming out of this? What is that? Is it smoking? I think it's smoking. You know what? I think this is degassed enough. Okay. So remember when I said I don't like to leave this pump running for too long? That's why. Yeah. So now we can just inject this into the molds. So what we've got is we've got, goodness, I've forgotten the name of all of them, injection gate. That's the big one in the middle, and then we have smaller gates for releasing air out the sides. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Can you take it out and put it back on? Okay. Well, it's covered in silicone now, but... It's all right. I'm going to keep applying pressure until I see silicone come out the vent holes, and then I know the whole mold is full. Okay. There it is. Okay. It's come out of four of them, but it hasn't come out of the middle ones yet. Okay. Now it's come out of all of them. Excellent. Now I can remove that and move to the next one, and then apply pressure. Oh, okay. Apply pressure again, and it's going to come out. You've got to wait until the silicone comes out of all of the vent holes, because if it only comes out of some of them, there's still a bubble underneath the others. Okay. Yeah. So all right. There we go. It's coming out of all four. Move over, and I think we've run out. Mix up more. Let's mix up more. Here we go. I wish I had a funnel. It was like Linus' personal pump. Oh, is that where it came from? Oh, so it wasn't new. Yeah. It was probably very much abused by him. Yes. We managed to catch it before all the silicone came out. I'm going to prop that up with something. How about a one, two, three block? Sure. There we go. Now it's not going to fall over. I suppose we could have put a bit more in, because it only went up to about 30. Okay. Let's do this quickly. It's probably fine. It's fairly easy. Okay. That's probably good. There we go. Next one. So I, oh, okay. Let's just start. So for this one, I'm hoping that because we had a break between, we're not going to have a bubble between two layers of silicone. So I might push a little bit extra through to see if there was a bubble in there. That's probably fine. Probably. It's really hard to tell. Wait, four holes? Wait, four holes? And eight holes. Okay.
