All right, here we go. Do you think you remember what your first appearance was? No, I don't think so. It was probably some sort of office makeover or the moving vlog videos that we did. Unless you count back when I used to film with Linus, but I don't think I was ever in those. I think I only just filmed. So we were trying to figure this out as well, and as you can see, I've shortlisted some videos in front of you. Okay. But to get to that, we ended up having to ask Linus, and if you alt-tab for me, you'll see Linus's long list of videos. Man, he was detailed. I don't know that I remembered all of this. Yeah, so he went to the specificity of you being in and of it being blurred out, you not saying anything, saying something. That's funny because you can, from his list here, you can kind of see the progression of where it started, which is cool. I was definitely not comfortable being on camera before. It took a long time. Still takes a while. Let's start with reacting to one of the ones you filmed for Linus. Sure. Oh man, the quality of our videos before were so bad. That, I think, was a table from his aunts that we had. And, oh man, where was this? Was this at my parents' place, or? How did this go about? Like, did you volunteer to film, or did you have no choice? I think it was more just that he worked all the time, and I wanted to spend time with him, and if the only way I could spend time with him was to help him work, then I was going to do that. Because he would bring home, like, I kid you not, a carload full of products over the weekend, and I'll just be like, Linus, what's going on? And he's like, I have to film all of these this weekend. I'd be like, okay, well, here, I'll help you. We'll make it go faster. It's kind of been our relationship to do everything together and just kind of help each other with whatever it is. Oh, that's sweet. So I learned a lot more about products, tech products, than I would have otherwise. Do you think this was the first one you ever filmed, or...? I don't know. It seems early enough, yeah. Like, I was with Linus before he started at NCIX. Correct. So any time he filmed off-site, it was me. You were the only camera person? Yeah, so there was the cameraman, which was who would film with him at the office, and then just, yeah, everything else was with me. Sometimes I think he self-filmed, but that was a lot more difficult. Yeah, this is brutal. I'm so glad that our production quality is better now. There's also another one to go to the next video. Oh, in Singapore. Okay, see, the thing that I tell you about how Linus just does Linus things, and if you want to spend time with Linus, you better do things with him. We were supposed to be on a family vacation with my extended family in Singapore, and of course, he has to work, and so I'm just like, Linus, seriously, we paid all this money to be overseas, and to spend time with people we haven't seen in 10 years, and you want to work. All right. Well, I guess we better make this go fast, and he obviously needed someone. There was no plan for anyone else to film for him, so I think he just assumes now that I will do this for him. I mean, he's not wrong. I did, so. Was your family comfortable with him deciding to upgrade the Wi-Fi at their place? I think so. I think they were having problems. Actually, you know what? Don't quote me on this. I don't remember exactly, but I don't know if they cared. I think it was that Linus went to their house, and because in Singapore, all the homes are made of concrete, not wood. He was having troubles with the Wi-Fi, so he was just like, I can't stand this. We have to be here for the next two weeks. I need to fix this. I think that might be how it originated, actually. Of course, they got Wi-Fi upgrades, so I think they put up with them. He's always thinking of content ideas, wherever he is, whatever he's doing, even on vacation. I'm surprised they let him film the inside. Their home is beautiful. That's my mom. All these shots taken by you? I don't remember, but I do remember that Linus would get so annoyed with my aunt. Okay, so it runs on my mom's side of the family to be clean freaks, and so Linus would take a drink of water, put his cup down, go to do something, come back to get another drink, and his cup would be gone, because she's just like so anal about cleaning. I remember this video took a long time. I think if you skip to about the halfway mark, it's probably where I think you're following him around. Yeah, yeah. Was this one of your first times kind of experiencing him in a market type setting? No, it's not actually. So when we were, oh man, like when we had first started dating, we went to the Richmond night market. I don't know if you know what that is. It like had market type things, and he was like, buy me a sword. I want a sword. I was like, are you serious right now? And this was back when you could burn DVDs and CDs, and you could get good deals at the night market. Right. So yeah. Back in that era is when we first went to a market. Oh wow, we used Unify even back then. That's cool. Do you think you'd be able to take on the duty of camera person now? I don't know. The cameras we use are kind of complicated now. I know that most of them have an auto setting, so probably I don't think that it would be the same quality as the guys do now, but I could get by if I had to. Like if I had to do this again, I probably could. It's why I'm seeing Linus without socks. Oh my god, yes. No socks, no sandals. Yeah, let's move on to your first appearance. And as Linus mentioned, also your first word on camera. Oh man, yep. See, man, our life, our private life, our personal life, and work were so intertwined. This is literally like what we had to do. I had bad posture. I need to work on that. So yeah, I had to bring the entire family, the baby and our toddler, to go and get office equipment. I don't miss those days. How did you feel about appearing on camera for the first time? Like was that on your mind? No, I don't think so, not at all. I mean, there's so many things that are distracting at this point, right? There's the baby, there's the toddler, there's the actual shopping, there's the filming. It's almost too much to keep in your head. You're just kind of focused on getting it done. I was probably just focused on getting it done. Like, hey, we need to get out of here as soon as possible. There's so many things we need to do. Let's go. Did you try for as long as possible to actively avoid being on screen? I did, actually. I don't really know why anymore at this point. I think just insecurity about being online. I tend to be a really private person and kind of an introvert. And so being on camera didn't really jive with that. But I think over time, I've gotten a little bit more used to it. And the audience is really nice, so that helps a lot. Linus is the exact opposite to that. Well, you know what? A lot of people think that Linus is an extrovert because he can present as one, but he's actually more introverted than I am. Oh, really? Yeah, you wouldn't think that, but yeah. Yeah, it's kind of hard to tell at work, I guess, because I mean, when it comes to talking to people, he's absolutely comfortable. He's excellent at it, yeah. And I am not. Like, if you ask me to do public speaking, I just clam up. I can't do it. And then I come across as really dumb. It doesn't help me. I totally feel that. Okay, let's move on to the next video. Okay. So this one is, you're on a phone call at Ronald's pranking Linus. I remember this one. I think, was it Luke who asked me to do this? Hey, where are you? You're supposed to be here already. Well, I texted you earlier. Our flight's leaving earlier. You're supposed to be here. I sound really believable. You lied really well in the Swedish video. What's really funny is that I'm actually a terrible liar. So I'm really surprised this happened. Linus always can tell. You were a goer late. I've been trying to call you and reach you. I wonder if the reason this one is so believable is because I have conversations with Linus like this all the time. Oh, right. So he waited like where he needs to be. I was really stressed out about lying to Linus and pranking him about this because he's already super stressed. And I didn't want to add to it. But for video content, that's what you do, right? And I think they've also, someone also disconnected the battery in his car. So he was trying to move it and he's like, my battery's dead. I felt so bad after. Yeah. That filing cabinet sucked so much. I had glitter on me every single day for as long as I had that stupid filing cabinet. It was unbelievable. I mean, it kind of was a nursery. I brought the kids to work a lot because I was supposed to be on mat leave. So at least they had somewhere that was bright and happy and fun and they even had toys. It's insane to think how much the offices transformed. Yes. That's now like a call room. I think procurement was there for a bit. We've had so many office makeovers and each time we try to make it like, I think the first time I did an office makeover, it was just like, okay, just paint it whatever colors so that it looks good on camera and let's just like move on. And then the next time it was like, okay, let's add a little bit of depth to it. Can we make some kind of LMG somehow? And then like every time I feel like we just kind of try to do that even more. So when you go around and look at the personalizations that have happened after, I feel like they're a lot more meaningful. Like, I don't know if you know, but in the writer's den, for example, no, sorry, that was for the pictures that are in the main entryway. So it's like our top videos that line the wall over there. Like everyone can do just random decorations like home decor or whatever. We just tried to make it personalized and like techy and cool. Better than just a bland office, you know? Yeah. It's core pretty feeling. One day we'll get to the lab. We haven't done that yet. I think that's going to be a huge job. Yeah. And I don't have time for that right now. All right. So this is your first ever time hosting a video and it was a tech link. Tell us a little bit about how you got to this. I don't know the evolution of how I got to this. I was starting to get a lot more comfortable on camera and I think Linus just wanted me to try something. And TechLinked is a great place to kind of start because you don't necessarily need to do a whole lot of research beforehand. You're reading the news. So it's all scripted. Yeah. I guess it was just kind of like a playground for a host to get started and see how it feels and improve from there. So. Evonne. Can we? Yeah. I want to come home technically. Really? Yeah. Come on. Okay. There you go. All right. Catch. So this is so awkward. The sad part is I don't know if it's better than this now. Oh, man. I don't think I can watch this. You're skipping through it. You're skipping through it. What? You have to watch yourself. That's how we're here. Oh, okay. All right. All right. All right. Take our jerbs. Jerbs, Riley. We got our jerbs. This is so awkward. I was very nervous. I don't know if you can tell, but I was very nervous. I still get nervous now, but this is like a whole another level of nervous. Honestly, that's pretty understandable. But also I think you did a pretty good job. Oh, thanks. And I think most of the audience also agrees in the comments. Yeah. They were really nice and they were really supportive and I think that was why I was okay with even trying to do more. You know what? I think a big part of it too was that when I was on mat leave and you spend your entire day talking to kids, you kind of forget how to talk to adults or talk to other people in general. So it took a it felt like double stacking. Like I'm already not comfortable being in the public or public speaking. And then you add to that just like not even having the opportunity to practice socializing on a day to day level. It just made it really hard. Were you comfortable with reading off a like teleprompter? No, I had never used a teleprompter before. So it took a lot of just like trial and error to get the speed, right? And then I think I did the thing that you're also not supposed to do where you're just like reading with your eyes instead of trying to look at it and just like having it in the background as you're reading. Were there any failed takes from this shot? Probably, but Riley helped a lot. He was really encouraging and positive and that helped. I think you're right about TechLinked being a nice little setting for people to start out on. Yeah, and it helps that you have somebody like Riley in the background just talking to you. It makes it feel a lot more conversational and easier to do. Yeah, yeah, that was very awkward. All right, fast forward to your more recent appearance is when you hosted a ShortCircuit. How'd this come about? I was really nervous for this one too. This was my first time solo hosting any video. I did not prepare for it as much as I would have wanted to. I think I literally just put all my thoughts down in the car on the way over. But the great part is though that I had lots of experience with the Cricut already, so I think that shows. Jono was super helpful in this one, just kind of telling me, sorry, I'm getting lost in this video now. He was really good about just telling me, hey, your energy level is great here, keep it up. Or being like, okay, I don't know if people necessarily care about this. Why don't we go on to the next points and things like that? I remember all the tips that Linus tells me, anytime you think you're being energetic, amplify that five times because the camera takes so much of it away. So I tried really hard to do that in this video. Yeah, you kind of have to exaggerate. Did the product come around first and they thought you'd be a good fit to host? Or did you kind of? No, I volunteered to do this one or Linus volunteered me. One of the two of the things. I think it was more like I was thinking about it, but I kind of needed that extra shove of encouragement to actually do it. How do you think this compares to your tackling toasting? Oh my goodness, I feel like this was a night and day difference. But even then I look at this video and I'm just like, oh no, all the things that I did wrong in it, how can I do better next time? Like what? I hate when I misspeak and I feel like I did that a few times. Cricut, Cricut, like. But I think even the most experienced hosts do that too right now, right? Yeah, that's true. And obviously being around Linus and seeing him do things in one take, I'm just like, okay, well the standard is here and I am not meeting that standard and so it just makes me feel bad. He calls himself the professional communicator in our household. Oh boy, oh boy, what a title. That does not go well at all. Do you think you'd ever host more short circuits or any kind of videos? Honestly, I'd love to. It's kind of a nice break from doing numbers and paperwork all day, so definitely, definitely interested. Because it goes so long in between when I do host, I feel like I don't make as much or like I don't improve enough for how long it seems like I host four. Like if you look at this, the first video is from what, like 10 years ago? That's seven years ago. Seven years ago, okay. If you look at it and you're like, well you've been in the film industry for seven years, but then you think about where I am now and I'm just like, yeah, no, that doesn't match up. If I do a video every three years, it's hard to kind of get to Linus' level when I do that. But I guess you've been in a lot more of log style content, which is much easier, I'm guessing, to kind of be on screen. It isn't, it isn't. I feel like it's completely different. So with log stuff, because it's in areas that I don't necessarily know, like tech is not my forte. I feel like it's more challenging because I don't feel like I can contribute as much. But then obviously when I'm with Linus or if I'm hosting with Linus, there's that relationship in history that I can kind of rely on. But if I had to do that with somebody else, I don't think that I could necessarily. But then yeah, I would love to if there's things that kind of overlap with our audience. Like I think the cricket was great for that. And if there were other things like that, I would love to. I think I got the laser, the laser cutter. I can't remember what it's called now. I haven't used it yet. I really should. But I got that as part of my AMD upgrade to try to use it. And then hopefully do a video like this again on the ShortCircuit channel. Sorry, that was a convoluted way of saying I would love to. I just need to have products that kind of overlap well. It's also probably refreshing to see, you know, not just Linus there all the time, right? Well, I like Linus. I don't know the problem with that. Yeah, I'm going to look back on this in 10 years from now and be very upset at myself for just. Yeah, this video. Why? Like, why, why, why? Because I feel like I'm processing so slow. Like that last part where I just completely said random stuff. And then at the end of it was like, what did I even say just now? No, it's okay. I feel bad. Hey, you're not hosting, hosting. So it's okay. It's a conversation, right? Let's see. If I can't even have a conversation, how can I host? I can be really hard myself sometimes. So if you haven't noticed. Is there a different style of video or anything that you wouldn't mind trying out to either host or be featured in? I mean, I would totally be down to host TechLinked again. I think I hosted one or two more after that one that got significantly better. Kind of just dropped off. So yeah, I would totally be down for that. And honestly, I'm down to do more blogs and other things too. It's just, it's whatever kind of fits the schedule and whatever fits the content. I don't want to force something that's not right.
