WEBVTT

00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:09.000
I'm Emily. I'm a video editor here, part-time, camera operator sometimes, also sometimes, supervisor sometimes.

00:00:09.000 --> 00:00:20.000
I've been working here for two years. Honestly, the people. Like, I don't know. It sounds weird, but like, I don't know, I get along with everyone here. There's no drama.

00:00:20.000 --> 00:00:26.000
Everyone's so nice. Like, I would hang out with any of these guys after work or whatever.

00:00:26.000 --> 00:00:30.000
We're all so collaborative too. It's just, it's just like a nice place to work.

00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:38.000
The worst part is honestly, there's no parking. I hate it. There's multiple buildings and yet I have to get here so early.

00:00:38.000 --> 00:00:43.000
I'm not a morning person, but I have to get here so early if I want any kind of parking.

00:00:43.000 --> 00:00:52.000
He's more of a goofball than he seems. Like, it's funny because like, you think he's like, oh my god, that's the CEO. Like, I can't talk to him.

00:00:52.000 --> 00:01:02.000
He's like the most like, random chill dude. We actually did a trip together. We did the IBM tour. Go watch that.

00:01:02.000 --> 00:01:10.000
It was really fun. We went to New York and we actually couldn't get our flight home from Seattle because like COVID stuff got in the way.

00:01:10.000 --> 00:01:16.000
We actually just rented a car and road trip for like three hours and it was like the most chill day.

00:01:16.000 --> 00:01:23.000
We just hung out, talked about games and music. His music tastes are super weird, not what I thought at all.

00:01:23.000 --> 00:01:30.000
Yeah, he's just a regular guy. He's fun to work with. He's not scary. It's honestly just gotten bigger.

00:01:30.000 --> 00:01:39.000
Like, I think when I was hired there was maybe like 40 or 50 people here and now there's over 100. It's insane and we're still hiring.

00:01:39.000 --> 00:01:49.000
I think what people get wrong about LMG is that it's more corporate than it is. I don't know. It's kind of the internet thing, especially Reddit.

00:01:49.000 --> 00:02:03.000
They just like, it's hilarious to read because people keep thinking Linus has these big conspiracies and like he's just this evil overlord kind of guy that like runs a company and it's like he's just running a company.

00:02:03.000 --> 00:02:12.000
Like everything here is just like a kind of normal day to day thing. In fact, it's quite a lot better than my previous job. I actually like working here.

00:02:12.000 --> 00:02:22.000
But it's not, there's no like evil plans or anything. It's just like we make videos and it's fun. It's really not that serious.

00:02:22.000 --> 00:02:26.000
And I think people think it's a bigger deal than it is.

00:02:26.000 --> 00:02:35.000
I finished film school and I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do. I was stuck at a stupid retail job that I didn't want.

00:02:35.000 --> 00:02:44.000
And then I just pretty much applied to anything that had video editing in the title. I had heard of LTT but I had not watched the videos. I didn't really know.

00:02:44.000 --> 00:02:49.000
And I was super underqualified for this. Like I had no actual editing experience other than school.

00:02:49.000 --> 00:02:59.000
And then I heard back from Ed and pretty much like got hired within like a couple weeks. It was kind of insane how fast it went.

00:02:59.000 --> 00:03:09.000
But he was like, because both Nicole and I come from retail backgrounds, he was like, you know, you don't have much experience, but we're just going to take a shot, take a chance and it worked out.

00:03:09.000 --> 00:03:17.000
So it's, I attribute most of it to luck. It was mostly random, but I'm super glad it worked out.

00:03:17.000 --> 00:03:22.000
Jeff just ran up to my desk and is like, are you wearing Vessys? And I'm like, yeah.

00:03:22.000 --> 00:03:30.000
And he's like, cool, can I have your shoes? So he took my shoes and he ran off and like 10 minutes later he comes back and they're soaking wet.

00:03:30.000 --> 00:03:35.000
They're like dripping all over the floor and he's like, good news. They're waterproof and then left.

00:03:35.000 --> 00:03:40.000
And I was like, and I had just wet shoes for the rest of the day. It was really, it was really sad.

00:03:40.000 --> 00:03:48.000
Were they dry on the inside? Yeah, they were, but my feet were cold because it was like freezing water and like two degrees outside.

00:03:48.000 --> 00:03:52.000
This video is not sponsored by Vessys. No, not sponsored, but we like Vessys.

00:03:52.000 --> 00:04:00.000
Vessys are good. He's not super different. I think he's just, his energy is different, right?

00:04:00.000 --> 00:04:06.000
Because he has to be super energetic on camera. I think he's like the same guy, his opinions are the same, same personality.

00:04:06.000 --> 00:04:10.000
He's just like toned like way the hell down. Like he's just, yeah.

00:04:10.000 --> 00:04:16.000
I think on camera he just has to be flamboyant and really out there, but that's not necessarily who he is all the time.

00:04:16.000 --> 00:04:20.000
Otherwise he would like combust. Like you can't have that energy all the time.

00:04:20.000 --> 00:04:24.000
More collaboration between departments.

00:04:24.000 --> 00:04:33.000
Because especially with the recent writer move as an editor, it really sucks because it's like before, like we work so closely with you guys.

00:04:33.000 --> 00:04:40.000
So it's like, if you want to collaborate on something or have questions, someone can just like, you just go up or down the stairs, right?

00:04:40.000 --> 00:04:46.000
But like there's so many departments, like there's people I haven't even met at like other buildings and stuff.

00:04:46.000 --> 00:04:51.000
And it's like, that would be cool if like, and everyone here is creative, even if they don't have a creative job.

00:04:51.000 --> 00:05:01.000
So it would be really nice to be able to, you know, talk to people and get other kind of insight into things and have more of an open environment like that.

00:05:01.000 --> 00:05:08.000
I think I would change. If you want to work here, you got to have a sense of humor.

00:05:08.000 --> 00:05:11.000
You got to be, you got to be someone who's chill.

00:05:11.000 --> 00:05:15.000
You got to be a person that wants to just come to work and have fun.

00:05:15.000 --> 00:05:26.000
You know, it can't all be, like it is serious sometimes, you know, we got time crunches and schedules, but you know, you got to be a person that wants to have fun while you work.

00:05:27.000 --> 00:05:30.000
Not be afraid to talk to people.

00:05:30.000 --> 00:05:35.000
And also don't be afraid to apply. That was the other thing too, because like, I don't know.

00:05:35.000 --> 00:05:38.000
Like I said, I was super underqualified. Apply anyway.

00:05:38.000 --> 00:05:41.000
Can't hurt. You know, you never know.
