We also have various pieces of art around the room, including a lower accurate banana taped to wall, reversed orientation on purpose to make it legally distinct. I do like the use of the acoustic paneling to, like, flank the sides of the projector screen. I think it fills up the space pretty nice. The warm light is nice, although a lampshade maybe hiding that would have been a good touch. I was going to check if the surrounds are at the same height. They're not. That one's higher. The frame rate's running smoothly on their side. And it's just that it's dropping packets or whatever sending to us. Yeah. You can see that like the minimum frame rate is still 51, so it's not dropping on their end. Chug, chug, chug, chug. 97 average on the GPU. It's such a weird thing. These are because the shelves from this unit turned on end to jack up the height of the TV. That is so sketch. That's sketch as hell. That's terrifying. I appreciate the multipurpose-ness of the space. They actually included books. But no extra lighting. So you're... Well, no, that light is adjustable. Is it RGB? It's RGB. I do wish they had a ladder or something so they could keep it going higher to the ceiling. It seems like it just like arbitrarily stops, but maybe they just ran out of panels. We felt that the room was a little tall and almost aquarium feeling. So it was a conscious decision not to put the sound panels up any higher than you normally would with about an eight foot ceiling. We found that acoustically the ceiling panels made an enormous difference even though there's not that many of them. Do you make the frames? No, this frame was free. That reeks of free. Yeah. It reeks as free, almost as free as a Pearl Harbor poster. No, we paid for that. Hey, that has an actual film strip from the film. Wow. That's collectible. What are you sitting on? The cuts are pretty clean. When you get the ones close here, it looks pretty dirty. But when you're far away, it just looks cheap. It was cheap. Yeah, especially the screws through the middle of them. I think that we're really focused on minor details like whether there's a screw hole and we're ignoring... I think we can hold two things in our minds at once. You have a PC and a PlayStation. We do. We have a working PC. It's not plugged in. Nope. The rules only stipulate that you must have a working PC, which we do. The lighting strip behind the TV. Just one color? Yes. It's bias lighting. So it's intended to improve contrast. It's not for vibe. I'm mostly impressed at the size of the speakers. Do you have any surrounds? We felt that in such a small room with the budgetary constraints that we were under, choosing acoustic treatment over surround speakers was a no-brainer. We could have surround speakers in here, but if we had reflections all over the place, you'd basically just be sitting in a massive positional audio. Shall we watch something? Sure. It's hard to judge this when we're watching such a low-resolution version of it because of the internet right now. Yeah, which movie did you want? Sorry? The Return of the King. Just pointing out that as a bonus, we have all three. Is there no control for the light? There is. How do you control it? With an app. Oh wait, well yeah, you can turn it off. I think it's an ideal size for the space. Good height, too. If you just ignore how it got to that height. Yeah. The sub sounds so much like it is over there. At least in my sitting position. It might be better when you're closer to the corners. I didn't notice that. For me, I was just like, wow, that is where the sub is. I was surprised at how the directional audio came through still quite a lot even though there is no surround actual with the zipline scene specifically. I would almost hazard to say that these speakers might be a bit too much for the room. There's times where it feels almost like shouty. Like there's some very noticeable peaks for me that didn't feel great to hear. It was like uneven, in a sense. All right, that's enough Chris for Nolan. Let's play some games. We have two controllers. Just thought I'd point that out. You've said that a bunch of times, like you think they only have one. I don't know how many. I don't know what they have. But there's three of us. I just don't know. Yeah, you have less. We can't all play together. But look at the quality of these controllers. Dual sense, no stick drift. It feels really smooth. It's PlayStation. Yeah, there's the stuff to beat. All right, Red Dead Redemption 2 gaming. This game came out on the PS4 and it's locked at 30 on the PS5. Rockstar ass move. I mean, it's this for the next 25 minutes. Yeah. All right, is there another game? It looks like a good experience. It was made for this console. Yeah, it's like rock solid. Yeah, feels nice. Starting with Vibe Max, which is something that sounds like it needs a prescription for it. The vibes really accessible and I would say well decorated space. I like everything that's in there. I think most people would think it was pretty nice. In three words, rental property core. The stylistic design is both bland, but clean enough that you could bring anybody there, including your mom. It's a well thought out space. It really is. There's a fridge, there's snacks, all very well accessible. It is a little bit bland. I'm giving Vibe Max a 6 out of 10 for vibes. I'm giving Vibe Max a 7 out of 10 for vibes. I'm giving Vibe Max an 8 out of 10 for vibe. On to movie experience. Projector not aligned. Projector has scan lines. Adventure time colors were weird. Contrast not exciting, but it's okay, I guess. The projector and the surround setup at first seemed like great ideas, but ultimately turned out to be the downfall of this setup. The projector colors were super overcooked in the reds. People's skins looked overly yellow and the hobbits looked like they were just dead. And they don't die, spoilers. And for the surround sound, it sounded like all the audio that ought to be out of the front towers was coming out of this one surround speaker beside me and I had no sense of stereo panning. I just only got surround. Overall, good screen size and it worked. You click the movie, it played. Sound worked, volume worked. And high quality files from a totally legal source. I think you mean click the Linux ISO. 5, a 6 out of 10. 7 out of 10. A theme is emerging. It's going down. The gaming experience. Due to technical difficulties, this was very hard for us to judge. However, it was a technical difficulty that is well known with the strategy that was chosen. Game streaming is only as good as your internet connection. And today's internet connection was very bad. I felt the setup was incomplete. You went for like a couch gaming setup with the PC, which I've had in the past, you need to have at minimum a wireless keyboard. Your keyboard, it kind of made it to the couch area, but by and large it was designed to be used over in the corner. I'm not going to use that controller to play an RTS. Having a rented computer, a cloud streaming service, you would expect to play normal PC games rather than just console games. Obviously, when we did do the benchmarks, we'd had good frames overall, but it was ultimately unplayable. For gaming, I'm giving Loot's team a 6. Even though it didn't work so well, you got to give points for the flexibility of the system. It is PC gaming. It doesn't always just work, but you get more flexibility and freedom. So I like the spirit of the idea. You encapsulated my thoughts perfectly, and I also gave them a 6 out of 10. You both said exactly what I was going to say. It's also a 6 out of 10. Oh, okay. I could have been worse. I mean, yay, thank you. I appreciate your feedback. One extra point for Dan. Starting with the vibes of the Vibe Zone. This is where it gets really tough because while Loot's team went with a really kind of bland, soulless, but accessible to everyone, whereas Linus' team took a stance. You might not like it, but some people might really like it. And it just so happens, if you've been to a party at my house, you know I like the lights low. They also played to the judges' strengths because I also like acoustic treatment. So I didn't mind the Doritos-shaped things all over the wall. Kind of dorky vibe, but you committed to the bit. But you did choose one of the most uncomfortable couches I've ever been on. And even though you can sleep on it, I would feel like that was a punishment. TV was precariously set upon pieces of MDF, and I would rather spend time in a space that can be bright lights that doesn't feel like an eight-year-old's dream room. Well, walking into Linus' room, you knew exactly what it was going to be for. You could tell this is a gamer space. There were books available, but also no way to turn on the light more than it was, so reading is a punishment. The last thing I'll say is there were quite fewer snacks in Linus' room than there was. And their drinks were cold. There definitely was points changed based on that fact. Let's go, dude. I'm giving them a seven. I respect the commitment to the bit, not my vibe. Five out of ten. I gave them an eight out of ten. On to the movie experience. Just as in Luke's room, with the gaming experience, Wi-Fi reared its ugly head. We saw the lowest res copy of Adventure Time on In Existence. Well, that wasn't Wi-Fi. We were on the wire. So we would have had the same issue. But you also had a computer that you just chose not to use. You could have maybe taken that computer and put a Plex server on it, had some other home theater PC. Instead, you decided to look at the letter of the law instead of the spirit of the law, and you brought a working computer and ignored it. At least Luke had to use his computer to stream his games. I'm just saying that copy of Adventure Time is not low res. Oh, but it looks pretty bad. Our games run fine, too. Yeah, sure, bud. Movie experience was way better in Linus's room. It was the right choice to just do 3.1. Linus was bang on when he said that this round just had too many extra waveforms fighting each other. Would have liked to have seen some treatment behind the speakers themselves, not just above it on the side walls. But hey, for the display, the color accuracy was actually, you know, acceptable. And this TV was a lot brighter than your typical projector, so that made a difference too, even though we weren't watching in HDR. Yeah, I have to say the TV was the first thing that I noticed with the movie experience. Yes, it wasn't the best TV in the world, but to normie eyes like mine, it was fairly fine. It made the movies look fine except Adventure Time. The only thing to note with the movies was no 4K. They went for the Blu-ray option, which was a good option, but on the PS5 there was no HDR, points out. I'm giving them a 6, but my home theater at home is really good. I'm giving them a 7. And I am also giving them a 7. The final category is gaming. PlayStation is just so much easier to use, oh my god. However limited the PlayStation may be, it was a very smooth experience and it felt great to play on that TV with its game mode on. It would have been nice to have a keyboard and mouse because, you know, consoles these days are kind of computers. To further that point, please. You had a computer. You could have played games that aren't on PlayStation, on that computer. Retro games, other easy to run games. But you neglected to implement that, so Luke's system does have substantially more flexibility in the kinds of games that you can play. I will say, not having the PC available, it really did hurt here. There wasn't even a mouse and keyboard in that room, I don't think. I didn't see one. And with locked frame rates at 60 and 30 for Red Dead, that was pretty painful. I do want to ask, because I didn't get a confirmation, how many controllers did we have in Linus's room? More than one. Two. Two. How many controllers do we have in Luke's room? Three. Three. How many judges do we have? All of the judges could play a game at the same time. We didn't. Details. Overall though, I'm calling this a wash, a six again for Linus's team. I was pretty won over by the PlayStation. However, I was disappointed by the lack of a PC, which is why I gave it a 9 out of 10. Except, I told Linus at the start that for not picking me, he loses a point. He made no effort to make that better. So he gets an 8 out of 10. And yes, it was a tough call. Both rooms are basically exactly the opposite, which makes them exactly the same in the same way. But overall, Linus's gaming experience was an 8 out of 10. The score is tabulated and out of a possible 90 points, there is only a difference of 5. Which means that the winner of Scrapyard Wars 2025 is Team Linus. Oh, these are cool. Those are cool. These are like the best trophies yet. Oh yeah, rub it in. Sure. Hey, you got trophies too. So sick. Great job you got. I hope it's an L. No, it's not. I'm really surprised. I'm surprised we judged as well as we did. I kind of wondered if they were like being nice. Directing us towards Projector, which I've never worked with a Projector ever before, was a mistake. I genuinely spent at least half of my time trying to diagnose shadow issues. We did not win the way I was expecting to. No, not at all. We won on gaming. Over with the odds. The PS5 gave Adam a lot of points there. Even with the one point deduction. Since season one, there's been this concept of like if we somehow merged our things, it would be so much better. And like if you guys had our couch. Our couch is more ass than the asses that sit on. I think we also got the only second hand copy of Cyberpunk in the entire Lower Mainland. I wanted to get an Xbox Series X, but Returnal is still exclusive to PlayStation and PC. PlayStation, yeah. That would have given me cheaper controllers too. Ours were pretty banged up. We had the 3D print battery holders and thumb sticks. It actually worked out. The 3D printing for the controllers was quite good. Almost as good as the Segway. To our sponsor.
