Um, these are just really","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":188.48,"end_s":195.519,"text":"easy to pull switches out. And then these are great for key caps of any size. Extra gaskets. Corsair is only offering a","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":229.2,"end_s":234.239,"text":"barebones or fully assembled option. Just a few","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":236.879,"end_s":244.08,"text":"bolts. Super easy to do. And as you can see, it's got a ton of sound dampening","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":241.28,"end_s":247.28,"text":"layers. Uh total of eight. You can see them all listed here on the Corsair","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":245.68,"end_s":250.56,"text":"website. And it all just kind of fits very nicely. I actually really like the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":248.959,"end_s":254.879,"text":"little nubbins they leave here so that everything is aligned, which is great","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":252.72,"end_s":257.28,"text":"for new builders because uh sometimes that's kind of a worry is that you're","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":256.16,"end_s":262.0,"text":"not going to have everything aligned perfectly and it's going to come out","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":259.519,"end_s":266.72,"text":"wrong. The nice thing about this actually, aside from these uh pretty","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":264.72,"end_s":269.68,"text":"thick gaskets. Oh, these are really long.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":268.32,"end_s":272.96,"text":"Ooh, these are cool. These are like two-stage gaskets. I don't know how","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":271.6,"end_s":276.56,"text":"common these have become. I haven't been unboxing keyboards as frequently, but I","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":274.88,"end_s":281.12,"text":"like how these are double stage. our plate fits into the smaller hole and","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":278.4,"end_s":285.12,"text":"then the bigger one um just helps it rest nice and gently, I'm guessing. Uh","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":283.04,"end_s":290.8,"text":"but then the other big thing that I'm actually super happy to see are these","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":287.12,"end_s":292.72,"text":"giant like pads for the space bar","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":290.8,"end_s":296.32,"text":"because we'll type on it later and you'll see how the space bar sounds. But","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":294.32,"end_s":300.0,"text":"it's honestly a really good idea and I'd like to see it incorporated more","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":297.919,"end_s":303.68,"text":"frequently into other designs. At this point, what you'd normally do is just,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":301.6,"end_s":307.919,"text":"you know, pop the top back on. Yep. Like this. and then uh plunk all your","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":305.84,"end_s":312.639,"text":"switches and key caps in there. Uh but thanks to Movie Magic, boom, it's right","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":309.919,"end_s":318.16,"text":"here, fully assembled for me to try with the LCD module screen, I might add,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":314.96,"end_s":320.16,"text":"which is super cool. Uh you've got this physical onoff switch up here. Actually,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":326.479,"end_s":333.039,"text":"very tactile and very easy to use. I hate the tiny little rockers that are","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":331.44,"end_s":337.36,"text":"like you've got to slide them over. I like that this has got a protruding","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":335.6,"end_s":341.039,"text":"switch. That's what I'm going to call it anyway. Um, and then when you turn it","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":339.039,"end_s":344.24,"text":"on, you get like this little Wi-Fi thing lights up, so now it looks like you're","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":342.639,"end_s":349.44,"text":"using it on wireless mode. It's got Bluetooth as well. Our LCD modules","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":347.039,"end_s":353.199,"text":"powering on. I actually really like it. It's uh programmable through IQ. If","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":351.52,"end_s":357.6,"text":"you're a big Corsair person using a ton of IQ peripherals or fans or whatever","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":355.759,"end_s":363.16,"text":"already, um, this is really going to easily fit into the rest of your","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":358.96,"end_s":363.16,"text":"ecosystem. And","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":367.039,"end_s":373.68,"text":"that's pretty solid. Um, even with the foam, the space bar is a little uh tiny","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":372.16,"end_s":378.24,"text":"and a little high pitched. It could be a little deeper, but it sounds a lot","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":376.639,"end_s":382.72,"text":"better than it would without it. Also, the stabilizer is pretty solid.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":381.039,"end_s":386.96,"text":"I don't hear like any rattle at all. Yeah, even on the space bar. So, overall","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":384.8,"end_s":393.36,"text":"construction opinion is that it's like really well built. And then on the back","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":389.44,"end_s":396.4,"text":"here, we've got USBC for our cable. And","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":393.36,"end_s":398.319,"text":"then we've got these feet.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":396.4,"end_s":403.28,"text":"When I first tried this thing, I thought these were like adjustable feet. Um,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":400.96,"end_s":405.919,"text":"they're not. They're just magnetic. So, me clicking that, that's not a button or","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":404.88,"end_s":412.08,"text":"anything. That's just them kind of fitting loose in there. Um, but the reality is if they sell like different","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":410.0,"end_s":416.16,"text":"sizes of these later, then it'd be super easy to just pop them off and swap them.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":414.16,"end_s":419.68,"text":"or if you just want a flat experience, it's really easy to take those out. Like","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":417.84,"end_s":423.199,"text":"I love the switches, but it does feel a bit more premium than flipping up and","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":421.68,"end_s":426.4,"text":"down the the feet to change them to different stages for typing angles. And","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":424.88,"end_s":430.96,"text":"then on the back, something else I just noticed, it's got the PC to Mac switch.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":428.639,"end_s":435.919,"text":"As for RGB, we've got PBT double shot keys, and the light is shining through","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":433.199,"end_s":439.919,"text":"quite nicely, I must say. Uh I like the Corsair name at the top. I'm not usually","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":438.4,"end_s":443.84,"text":"big on branding being all over the keyboard, but I think that's fine. My","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":441.84,"end_s":451.199,"text":"only problem is that the Corsair logo on the bottom","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":447.44,"end_s":454.56,"text":"here, it is not perfectly centered. And","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":451.199,"end_s":456.4,"text":"um it's off by like 2 mm or something,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":454.56,"end_s":460.88,"text":"but it's barely off. And I noticed it when I uh checked it out earlier. It's","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":458.72,"end_s":465.919,"text":"such a minor thing. And I know I'm really nitpicking here, but um Corsair,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":463.759,"end_s":470.72,"text":"please please just shift it slightly. have it align with the spacebar maybe or","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":468.08,"end_s":475.199,"text":"have it align perfectly with the USBC cable because as you can see it's just","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":473.12,"end_s":480.8,"text":"ever so slightly off. But yeah, my overall thoughts are that like this","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":476.8,"end_s":482.639,"text":"thing is pretty solid.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":480.8,"end_s":487.199,"text":"So, let's try a typing test. By the way, this thing's got an 8 kHz polling rate","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":484.72,"end_s":490.319,"text":"with Corsair's Axon technology. And I got to say that's about as fast as it's","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":488.96,"end_s":493.919,"text":"going to get for keyboards. That is wired mode specifically. If you're","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":492.479,"end_s":499.44,"text":"wireless, it's going to be more like a thousand hertz bolding rate, which is still totally fine. And I am going to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":497.52,"end_s":503.44,"text":"preemptively blame my what I'm anticipating to be a bad time today","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":501.52,"end_s":506.44,"text":"because my thumb hurts real bad. Here we go.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":511.199,"end_s":516.64,"text":"123 99%. That's actually not bad. That's probably one of my better times uh on","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":515.279,"end_s":520.959,"text":"the channel. So, you know, okay, whatever. I'm doing fine. But um it","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":519.2,"end_s":523.36,"text":"sounded pretty good and I actually really like the switches. So I'm gonna","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":522.399,"end_s":527.6,"text":"find out what's in this one specifically. Uh because those felt","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":525.76,"end_s":531.76,"text":"great. They're nice and light. Feels like linears. Uh these are the MX Pulse","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":529.92,"end_s":537.12,"text":"switches. Are they linear? Please tell me they're linear cuz I just said","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":533.12,"end_s":539.04,"text":"they're linear. Prelubed. Thy linear. Um","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":537.12,"end_s":542.04,"text":"I really like these. They came pre-lubed.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":543.36,"end_s":549.12,"text":"Yeah, these are really nice. I'll pop that back in.","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":547.44,"end_s":553.12,"text":"Just like that. And that's the thing is like uh the nice Okay, so why do you","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":551.279,"end_s":556.24,"text":"care about buying a mechanical keyboard, especially one that's hot swap? Because","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":554.56,"end_s":560.399,"text":"we'll get to the price in a bit. Spoiler alert, it can be a little expensive,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":558.16,"end_s":565.44,"text":"especially if you start adding all of the different customizable options. But","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":562.399,"end_s":567.519,"text":"the repairability is fantastic. Like if","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":565.44,"end_s":573.2,"text":"something in this breaks, whether that's the PCB or uh just a single switch","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":570.72,"end_s":578.72,"text":"starts failing, you can absolutely just order more. I'm not sure how many parts","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":576.24,"end_s":583.519,"text":"Corsair is going to have available, but switches, which are the bigger failure","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":580.56,"end_s":587.12,"text":"points anyway, boom, swap them out just like that. You saw me take it out, put","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":584.959,"end_s":591.2,"text":"it back in. It really is that simple. Um, and it's a big part of why I love","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":589.519,"end_s":596.72,"text":"mechanical keyboards, cuz when it not only do they sound and feel good, um,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":593.76,"end_s":599.92,"text":"but you can fix them. Uh, let's try IQ and try the LCD screen. I want to check","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":598.72,"end_s":603.6,"text":"that out. It looks sick. Here's the thing. Even if you don't want to use IQ,","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":601.92,"end_s":606.64,"text":"you can use all the function keys to do a lot of that. So, when Corsair offered to sponsor this video and give me the opportunity to meet my maker, I said, \"Of course.\" And here it is. The Maker 75 from Corsair is their new DIY kit. You can buy it either as a kit or as a pre-built. I'm going to show you both. Uh they sent us basically everything. Um so, let's go through the box. We've got the wireless module. That's a nice add-on there if you want wireless. If you don't want wireless, don't pay for it. What else have we got? a bunch of Doubleshot Pro keycaps, keycap mod kit. For those of you that are uninitiated, when you go to build a keyboard, you get to select a number of options. Um, sometimes it's the type of plate that's in your keyboard. Sometimes it's the color, sometimes it's the key caps that come with it or the switches. And so that's kind of what they've added here in this box. And we've got, oh my god, so many switches. What is this? MLX Quantum. MLX Pulse. I actually really like these pulse purple switches. They're very pretty. Bunch of pulses. Uh, and then what else has we got? One cool thing about the Maker 75 is it's got either a volume knob or a screen. And I I say volume, it's a rotary knob. You can make it do other things, but I use it mostly for volume. What else have we got? MLX fusion switches. These are a lot plasma. I like the names, you know, plasma fusion. It's futuristic. It's cool. And then they're also giving me this nice cable from Drop. Nice coiled braided coiled aviator. Ooh, it's got a aviator lock. And then, ah, yes, this is sponsored by Corsair. My one and only complaint is that when you go to build the keyboard, you get the polycarb plate no matter what. That just comes with it. And then if you want an additional plate, you can buy an F FR4. Corsair, please, please let me just pick F FR4 instead of the Polycarb plate. That being said, Polycarb is really nice and it's actually like my preferred plate type, but uh that's all right. We got a little carrying case here. And then at long last, the piece, the resistance, the maker 75. I'll keep the cable out because I'm gonna need that. And then I'll keep the cool uh LCD module. This thing's sick. But we'll check it out later. Uh this is the barebones kit. So if you order it unassembled, which I honestly recommend everyone does because keyboards, they're a little, you know, they seem scary, but they're actually really easy to put together. Um, I like that it's got the PC, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation labeling so that, you know, a lot of people don't understand that their keyboard is going to work for that device. Um, and then we've got the carbon black version. This also comes in like a gray. They both look very pretty. I think our other one is gray, so you'll get to see that. Aluminum premium gasket design, 8,000 hyperpolling wired mode. Uh, yeah, this thing can do 8 kHz, which is also really nice. It is a 75% board if that wasn't obvious by the name. Maker 75. And let's take a look. A normal cable. So, the drop one's going to cost more, but that's perfectly fine. USBC to A. How long is it? Probably close to 6 ft. We've also got a combo key cap switch puller. I really like these ones. Um, these are just really easy to pull switches out. And then these are great for key caps of any size. Extra gaskets. It's gasket mounted. Always good to see. And then what else have we got here? Tools. Oh, this is nice. It's probably like a little screwdriver. There we go. Allen key and some tiny screws. All right. One thing to note, you might need like a little jewelry screwdriver or the precision kit from ltstore.com. Just saying. Cuz yeah, these are really tiny guys. Um, and then the keyboard with all the parts. There should be eight layers of sound dampening material. Oh, this one's together. What the [ __ ] I thought they were supposed to. Actually, my mistake. There's no DIY kit. Corsair is only offering a barebones or fully assembled option. Barebones means there's no switches involved or key caps. So, I just kind of took it apart really quick. Just a few bolts. Super easy to do. And as you can see, it's got a ton of sound dampening layers. Uh total of eight. You can see them all listed here on the Corsair website. And it all just kind of fits very nicely. I actually really like the little nubbins they leave here so that everything is aligned, which is great for new builders because uh sometimes that's kind of a worry is that you're not going to have everything aligned perfectly and it's going to come out wrong. The nice thing about this actually, aside from these uh pretty thick gaskets. Oh, these are really long. Ooh, these are cool. These are like two-stage gaskets. I don't know how common these have become. I haven't been unboxing keyboards as frequently, but I like how these are double stage. our plate fits into the smaller hole and then the bigger one um just helps it rest nice and gently, I'm guessing. Uh but then the other big thing that I'm actually super happy to see are these giant like pads for the space bar because we'll type on it later and you'll see how the space bar sounds. But it's honestly a really good idea and I'd like to see it incorporated more frequently into other designs. At this point, what you'd normally do is just, you know, pop the top back on. Yep. Like this. and then uh plunk all your switches and key caps in there. Uh but thanks to Movie Magic, boom, it's right here, fully assembled for me to try with the LCD module screen, I might add, which is super cool. Ain't she a beauty? I personally prefer the silver, although black is timeless and fits in with just about everything. Uh you've got this physical onoff switch up here. Actually, very tactile and very easy to use. I hate the tiny little rockers that are like you've got to slide them over. I like that this has got a protruding switch. That's what I'm going to call it anyway. Um, and then when you turn it on, you get like this little Wi-Fi thing lights up, so now it looks like you're using it on wireless mode. It's got Bluetooth as well. Our LCD modules powering on. I actually really like it. It's uh programmable through IQ. If you're a big Corsair person using a ton of IQ peripherals or fans or whatever already, um, this is really going to easily fit into the rest of your ecosystem. And that's pretty solid. Um, even with the foam, the space bar is a little uh tiny and a little high pitched. It could be a little deeper, but it sounds a lot better than it would without it. Also, the stabilizer is pretty solid. I don't hear like any rattle at all. Yeah, even on the space bar. So, overall construction opinion is that it's like really well built. And then on the back here, we've got USBC for our cable. And then we've got these feet. When I first tried this thing, I thought these were like adjustable feet. Um, they're not. They're just magnetic. So, me clicking that, that's not a button or anything. That's just them kind of fitting loose in there. Um, but the reality is if they sell like different sizes of these later, then it'd be super easy to just pop them off and swap them. or if you just want a flat experience, it's really easy to take those out. Like I love the switches, but it does feel a bit more premium than flipping up and down the the feet to change them to different stages for typing angles. And then on the back, something else I just noticed, it's got the PC to Mac switch. As for RGB, we've got PBT double shot keys, and the light is shining through quite nicely, I must say. Uh I like the Corsair name at the top. I'm not usually big on branding being all over the keyboard, but I think that's fine. My only problem is that the Corsair logo on the bottom here, it is not perfectly centered. And um it's off by like 2 mm or something, but it's barely off. And I noticed it when I uh checked it out earlier. It's such a minor thing. And I know I'm really nitpicking here, but um Corsair, please please just shift it slightly. have it align with the spacebar maybe or have it align perfectly with the USBC cable because as you can see it's just ever so slightly off. But yeah, my overall thoughts are that like this thing is pretty solid. So, let's try a typing test. By the way, this thing's got an 8 kHz polling rate with Corsair's Axon technology. And I got to say that's about as fast as it's going to get for keyboards. That is wired mode specifically. If you're wireless, it's going to be more like a thousand hertz bolding rate, which is still totally fine. And I am going to preemptively blame my what I'm anticipating to be a bad time today because my thumb hurts real bad. Here we go. 123 99%. That's actually not bad. That's probably one of my better times uh on the channel. So, you know, okay, whatever. I'm doing fine. But um it sounded pretty good and I actually really like the switches. So I'm gonna find out what's in this one specifically. Uh because those felt great. They're nice and light. Feels like linears. Uh these are the MX Pulse switches. Are they linear? Please tell me they're linear cuz I just said they're linear. Prelubed. Thy linear. Um I really like these. They came pre-lubed. Yeah, these are really nice. I'll pop that back in. Just like that. And that's the thing is like uh the nice Okay, so why do you care about buying a mechanical keyboard, especially one that's hot swap? Because we'll get to the price in a bit. Spoiler alert, it can be a little expensive, especially if you start adding all of the different customizable options. But the repairability is fantastic. Like if something in this breaks, whether that's the PCB or uh just a single switch starts failing, you can absolutely just order more. I'm not sure how many parts Corsair is going to have available, but switches, which are the bigger failure points anyway, boom, swap them out just like that. You saw me take it out, put it back in. It really is that simple. Um, and it's a big part of why I love mechanical keyboards, cuz when it not only do they sound and feel good, um, but you can fix them. Uh, let's try IQ and try the LCD screen. I want to check that out. It looks sick. Here's the thing. Even if you don't want to use IQ, you can use all the function keys to do a lot of that. So, I'm just like upping and brightening. Wo, this is actually doing it to the screen of the laptop, not my keyboard. So, that's cool. But, let's use IQ. I'm back with an unrelated thumb injury because I completely forgot to tell you guys about Corsair's web hub. That's right. Soon, you're not even going to need IQ if you don't like it. You can just use it right through the internet. Moving forward, all peripherals will be customizable through web hub. You can set up lighting effects and macros on your freshly built keyboards with their powerful web-based tool that frees up resources on your PC and then save everything to the onboard memory. You can even update your firmware via the web hub. The only thing you can't do is sync your RGB and some LCD screen options aren't going to work. That's all going to have to still go through IQ. Let's uh walk through the little build process on Corsair's website and then I can show you what the price is. Before I move on, I do want to mention that it's got Corsair's flash tap. So, if you're really going to get competitive and you're not playing Counter-Strike and you're just playing Valerant or something, it does support it. You just have to tweak it to however you prefer. They got a nice little video here to show you. I love the animations on the website. Shows you through all the internals. They've got a listening test for each type of switch that they're offering, which it which is actually a really nice touch. But yeah, so let's talk about the price and we'll go through the build process. So, the base price is $180 and then you choose silver or carbon. Let's go silver. Choose your switch. 84 switches for 35 bucks. Um, I don't know if they give you the exact amount pre-populated or if they give you like stacks of 10, so maybe you'll end up with a few extras, but either way, that's pretty reasonable. And you can choose none. But I love how it populates the uh image on the website, so you know exactly what you're getting. They've got a few options for key caps with starting with like ABS doubleshot and then going all the way down to some like double shot PBT and then they've got a bunch of these cool designs to choose from. I was looking at these earlier. I think Dreamscape is kind of my vibe. So, we're going to go next. We're already up to $270. It's getting expensive, but a lot of you can buy the barebones kit. You don't need uh all the switches or the key caps. And then we're not going to add the wireless module. I'm not I'm a wired guy, so we'll skip the $50, but it is 50 bucks if you want to go wireless. Silver frame, included polycarb plate, MX pulse, MLX pulse thy switches, and then the Dreamscape key caps. And we're looking at a cool 270 bucks. It's a little more expensive than some of the stuff you're going to find online, but frankly, for all of these features and for this solid of a build quality, um, I am impressed. It really was so hard in the earlier years not seeing that quality level. See, getting like a Corsair or some other brand hitting this hitting the stabilizers and not, you know, having that satisfying thock, getting a bunch of rattle, not having hot swap as an option, not having full metal frames and just having, you know, plastic. This finally feels like the premium product that I would have been paying for all these years. And I hope this video helps you guys choose your next keyboard. My name's PLO. Thanks again to Corsair for sponsoring this video. This is the Corsair Maker 75. Overall, I'm relatively impressed by it. Uh could be a little less expensive, but I think you're finally kind of getting what you're paying for here. Um if you want to look at another ShortCircuit I did, check out the last time I unboxed a Corsair keyboard. It was the Corsair K70 Pro TKL. Pretty solid little board. That one also had flash tab."}
