so let's do sort of my standard Spiel where we start in the Middle where","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":251.239,"end_s":257.44,"text":"we've got our LGA 1366 socket supporting","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":254.48,"end_s":263.28,"text":"core i7 core i7 extreme processors we've got our four pin power connector up here","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":259.359,"end_s":265.36,"text":"in its ideal location we've got six","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":263.28,"end_s":270.36,"text":"memory slots supporting triple Channel DDR3 memory we've got our 24 pin","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":268.52,"end_s":277.56,"text":"connector and its ideal location along the right hand Edge we have six SATA 2 3","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":274.52,"end_s":280.8,"text":"gbit per second ports and two SATA 3 6","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":277.56,"end_s":283.32,"text":"gbit per second ports and then we've got","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":280.8,"end_s":287.08,"text":"all of our front panel connectors uh one of the things that Gigabyte has fixed","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":285.08,"end_s":293.28,"text":"about their G1 series boards as we move along we got USB 2 oh wow three USB 2s","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":290.84,"end_s":296.88,"text":"One USB 3 front header and then we've also got our audio header look at that","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":295.4,"end_s":300.84,"text":"Gigabyte is putting their audio header in the correct location at the very","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":298.72,"end_s":305.759,"text":"bottom left of the board unlike some of their previous boards where it's here","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":303.96,"end_s":310.96,"text":"and that's very difficult to get a front panel cable over to all right we've also","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":308.52,"end_s":320.16,"text":"got our expansion slots so we have 1 2 3 PCI e6x we have two PCI e1x and one PCI","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":316.84,"end_s":322.319,"text":"based on the PCI or based on the SLI","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":320.16,"end_s":327.88,"text":"bridge I saw included it looks like the full speed PCIe 16x slots are actually","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":325.12,"end_s":335.199,"text":"going to be these two and this last one runs at 8X as is standard on x58 boards","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":331.639,"end_s":337.0,"text":"it's going to be 16 16 and 8 okay we've","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":335.199,"end_s":342.319,"text":"got cooling let's talk cooling for a minute here so this boys and girls is","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":340.52,"end_s":348.12,"text":"not a weapon it is a heat sink and it cannot be assembled as a firearm I have","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":344.919,"end_s":351.639,"text":"been notified that this is not a clip","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":348.12,"end_s":354.84,"text":"based on my uh G1 assassin unboxing","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":351.639,"end_s":356.319,"text":"actually this is a magazine so my bad I","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":354.84,"end_s":360.36,"text":"don't know why crazy Russian keeps moving the camera around so much hold it","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":358.039,"end_s":365.08,"text":"still okay then we've we've got our North Bridge heat sink not like that","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":363.28,"end_s":368.8,"text":"okay which has LED lights on it which look cool it also says gaming","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":366.84,"end_s":372.8,"text":"motherboard on it and finally we have our mosfet heat sink which I think is","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":370.56,"end_s":376.52,"text":"actually the coolest one because it's the barrel of a gun check that out so","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":375.08,"end_s":381.28,"text":"you got your sight there you got your Barrel which will have a bullet coming","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":378.639,"end_s":384.72,"text":"out of it probably not cuz it's a heat sink not a weapon bear that in mind","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":382.759,"end_s":389.36,"text":"folks okay uh you know what let's not do the back iio yet let's talk about the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":386.36,"end_s":390.12,"text":"special features that make G1 special so","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":389.36,"end_s":396.84,"text":"here we have all of the circuitry that is dedicated to the onboard sound onboard","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":394.639,"end_s":401.639,"text":"sound is something that I really feel has gotten ignored while we are","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":399.599,"end_s":405.84,"text":"innovating in so many other ways on motherboards so this has a built-in","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":404.08,"end_s":410.0,"text":"amplifier which means that you can run even high impedance headphones on this","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":408.24,"end_s":415.24,"text":"motherboard and still get a satisfactory listening experience okay it also has as","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":412.8,"end_s":419.08,"text":"I said before dedicated circuitry for the onboard sound that's going to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":416.68,"end_s":421.759,"text":"provide you with anytime you have better quality components being used for sound","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":420.72,"end_s":428.599,"text":"you're going to get a better overall listening experience better signal deloise ratio all of that good stuff and","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":426.56,"end_s":435.56,"text":"up here we have the killer which actually has dedicated RAM as a cache","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":432.0,"end_s":437.56,"text":"and it is capable of according to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":435.56,"end_s":442.319,"text":"Bigfoot networks reducing your overall latency and that is a good thing no I","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":439.84,"end_s":446.72,"text":"don't care about that okay uh what else do we have on here to talk about oh yeah","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":443.879,"end_s":453.68,"text":"fan control okay so we got one two just back out and I'll point at them 1 2 3","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":449.96,"end_s":456.319,"text":"three four and I'm sure there's one more","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":453.68,"end_s":460.759,"text":"five uh fan fan headers those are all four pin pwm fan headers and they are","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":458.599,"end_s":464.479,"text":"conveniently located where you actually might need them unlike some motherboards","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":462.599,"end_s":469.4,"text":"so here's your back fan here's your CPU fan here's one two three that are kind","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":467.08,"end_s":473.319,"text":"of at the Front Bottom so that should be pretty handy and pretty usable compared","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":472.12,"end_s":479.759,"text":"to some of the stuff I've seen in the past on the back of the motherboard you can clearly see the matte black PCB","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":477.199,"end_s":483.599,"text":"which I have not harped on yet in this video although I do talk about it every","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":481.24,"end_s":489.199,"text":"time I see one because matte black pcbs are the shizzel everything should have a","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":485.599,"end_s":491.0,"text":"matte black PCB period okay we also have","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":489.199,"end_s":496.08,"text":"screws on the back which I'd really like to see not only screws but isolated","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":494.28,"end_s":500.0,"text":"screws so they've got little washers little plastic washers that will prevent","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":497.96,"end_s":503.879,"text":"those from ever shorting out and causing a problem with this motherboard the fact","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":501.879,"end_s":508.599,"text":"that we're using screws also means that cheap plastic push pins can't pop out","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":506.68,"end_s":513.039,"text":"and accidentally make it so that your mosfet who or your North Bridge cooler","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":510.919,"end_s":517.159,"text":"isn't making proper contact anymore and not cooling something properly so that","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":515.36,"end_s":521.2,"text":"is just one of those nice little touches that I do like to see finally let's have","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":519.76,"end_s":529.08,"text":"a look at the back panel where we have two PS2 ports we've got coaxial audio","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":524.48,"end_s":530.2,"text":"out we have an OC switch wo okay so you","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":529.08,"end_s":534.2,"text":"know what give me a moment I'm going to find out what that does just wanted to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":532.279,"end_s":538.519,"text":"correct myself really quick cuz I think I I okay clarify myself really quick so","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":537.12,"end_s":543.2,"text":"when you're running with two graphics cards these are 6 16x 16x but it's not","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":541.72,"end_s":547.68,"text":"actually 1668 it's when you're running with three","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":545.399,"end_s":554.279,"text":"graphics cards it's going to be 168 and 8 okay guys so I'm clarifying that 1616","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":551.2,"end_s":556.64,"text":"or 1688 so this one is capable of doing","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":554.279,"end_s":561.959,"text":"either depending on the configuration so this OC labeled switch at the back is","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":559.2,"end_s":561.959,"text":"according to don't forget to subscribe to Linus Tech tips for more unboxings","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":606.279,"end_s":611.12,"text":"reviews and other videos","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0}],"full_text":"so I noticed something interesting while I was looking at the G1 sniper box preparing to do my unboxing check this out the boxes are actually patterned identically oh here it's probably easier if I stack them save for the color so every little like Mark is exactly the same on both boxes see like this Mark and this Mark see so it's just a color difference however there is more difference between these two motherboards than just the color so we are going to be doing an unboxing of the G1 sniper we've already done the G1 assassin and let's have a look at what is special about this member of the Gigabyte G1 gaming Series so it has a three-year warranty which we've come to expect from Gigabyte in the US and Canada it has extreme Fidelity x52 or XF rather powered audio okay it supports the latest Intel Core i7 processors on the LG 1366 platform that includes the 990x extreme Edition we've got powered by creative audio including uh onboard amplification as well as a killer e2100 networking solution okay let's move around to the back where there's a bunch of stuff that really we're going to get more into as we look at the board itself so let's open up the box here where we find some Digi Cam and some flatulence okay and there's the board itself we're not going to look too closely at that yet we are going to check out the accessories so first thing we got here is three dudes who are G1 Killers we have the I believe it's the Assassin the gorilla and the sniper okay then on the back we have a target with some bullet holes conveniently already in it next we have stickers bullets bullet holes skull with flames coming out of his eyes and a knife and more bullets more bullet holes and some G1 see these these two would actually probably look pretty cool on on your case the rest of them I don't know you might just look like you live in Siri and you drive a truck okay here we go users manual including a chipsets and utilities DVD throw it away download the latest off the Gigabyte website multilingual installation guide book okay we've got an IO Shield which is not colorcoded but it is black so it looks sweet we've also got a Gigabyte sticker yeah that sticker sucks compared to the other ones sry Gigabyte then we have Dolby Digital home theater logo all right we've got a front panel USB 3 which is pretty nice okay using an internal header since most cases don't have front USB 3 uh that's that's a pretty good feature to have so it just mounts in a 3 and 1/2 in Bay all right we've got an SLI Bridge freeway s ibridge and we've got four SATA cables so two of them are right angle and two of them are straight okay I'm just going to put this back in here bear with me while I do some reboxing to go with my unboxing and there we go and that will give me a convenient place to put the motherboard while we talk about that okay so the motherboard the biggest difference that I can see between the G1 assassin and the G1 sniper at first glance anyhow is the form factor so the G1 assassin uses that XL ATX form factor which has nine expansion slots and only fits in a handful of cases whereas the G1 assassin seems to have a pretty similar feature set but fits in a standard ATX case oh it also only has six expansion slots compared to the seven expansion slots on the Assassin afforded by the longer form factor so let's do sort of my standard Spiel where we start in the Middle where we've got our LGA 1366 socket supporting core i7 core i7 extreme processors we've got our four pin power connector up here in its ideal location we've got six memory slots supporting triple Channel DDR3 memory we've got our 24 pin connector and its ideal location along the right hand Edge we have six SATA 2 3 gbit per second ports and two SATA 3 6 gbit per second ports and then we've got all of our front panel connectors uh one of the things that Gigabyte has fixed about their G1 series boards as we move along we got USB 2 oh wow three USB 2s One USB 3 front header and then we've also got our audio header look at that Gigabyte is putting their audio header in the correct location at the very bottom left of the board unlike some of their previous boards where it's here and that's very difficult to get a front panel cable over to all right we've also got our expansion slots so we have 1 2 3 PCI e6x we have two PCI e1x and one PCI based on the PCI or based on the SLI bridge I saw included it looks like the full speed PCIe 16x slots are actually going to be these two and this last one runs at 8X as is standard on x58 boards it's going to be 16 16 and 8 okay we've got cooling let's talk cooling for a minute here so this boys and girls is not a weapon it is a heat sink and it cannot be assembled as a firearm I have been notified that this is not a clip based on my uh G1 assassin unboxing actually this is a magazine so my bad I don't know why crazy Russian keeps moving the camera around so much hold it still okay then we've we've got our North Bridge heat sink not like that okay which has LED lights on it which look cool it also says gaming motherboard on it and finally we have our mosfet heat sink which I think is actually the coolest one because it's the barrel of a gun check that out so you got your sight there you got your Barrel which will have a bullet coming out of it probably not cuz it's a heat sink not a weapon bear that in mind folks okay uh you know what let's not do the back iio yet let's talk about the special features that make G1 special so here we have all of the circuitry that is dedicated to the onboard sound onboard sound is something that I really feel has gotten ignored while we are innovating in so many other ways on motherboards so this has a built-in amplifier which means that you can run even high impedance headphones on this motherboard and still get a satisfactory listening experience okay it also has as I said before dedicated circuitry for the onboard sound that's going to provide you with anytime you have better quality components being used for sound you're going to get a better overall listening experience better signal deloise ratio all of that good stuff and up here we have the killer which actually has dedicated RAM as a cache and it is capable of according to Bigfoot networks reducing your overall latency and that is a good thing no I don't care about that okay uh what else do we have on here to talk about oh yeah fan control okay so we got one two just back out and I'll point at them 1 2 3 three four and I'm sure there's one more five uh fan fan headers those are all four pin pwm fan headers and they are conveniently located where you actually might need them unlike some motherboards so here's your back fan here's your CPU fan here's one two three that are kind of at the Front Bottom so that should be pretty handy and pretty usable compared to some of the stuff I've seen in the past on the back of the motherboard you can clearly see the matte black PCB which I have not harped on yet in this video although I do talk about it every time I see one because matte black pcbs are the shizzel everything should have a matte black PCB period okay we also have screws on the back which I'd really like to see not only screws but isolated screws so they've got little washers little plastic washers that will prevent those from ever shorting out and causing a problem with this motherboard the fact that we're using screws also means that cheap plastic push pins can't pop out and accidentally make it so that your mosfet who or your North Bridge cooler isn't making proper contact anymore and not cooling something properly so that is just one of those nice little touches that I do like to see finally let's have a look at the back panel where we have two PS2 ports we've got coaxial audio out we have an OC switch wo okay so you know what give me a moment I'm going to find out what that does just wanted to correct myself really quick cuz I think I I okay clarify myself really quick so when you're running with two graphics cards these are 6 16x 16x but it's not actually 1668 it's when you're running with three graphics cards it's going to be 168 and 8 okay guys so I'm clarifying that 1616 or 1688 so this one is capable of doing either depending on the configuration so this OC labeled switch at the back is according to the manual an OC button okay press this button to overclock your CPU to turn to the defaults press this button again pretty self-explanatory all right next we have two ESAT ports we have four USB 2.0 ports two USB 3.0 ports a gigabit Ethernet powered by killer 5.1 audio as well as optical audio out hold on my bad 7.1 all right thanks guys for checking out this unboxing of the G1 killer sniper don't forget to subscribe to Linus Tech tips for more unboxings reviews and other videos"}
