it's really light a couple of interesting new features into the mix","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":59.64,"end_s":66.52,"text":"and the biggest one of those is of course","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":63.76,"end_s":71.88,"text":"light boost so it is fully compatible with NVIDIA's light boost technology","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":68.759,"end_s":74.56,"text":"which basically modulates the backlight","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":71.88,"end_s":78.88,"text":"of the LCD oh okay I think I opened it up upside down you can clearly see all","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":76.4,"end_s":83.96,"text":"the accessories here were uh piled in such a way as they would be easily taken","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":81.88,"end_s":87.759,"text":"out so why don't we go one by one uh what it does is it modulates the back","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":85.84,"end_s":91.439,"text":"light in order to create better separation between the left and the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":89.28,"end_s":96.24,"text":"right image and also to reduce the amount of eye fatigue and finally last","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":93.56,"end_s":102.479,"text":"but not least to boost the amount of light that makes it to your eye uh it","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":99.759,"end_s":109.439,"text":"worked quite well on the ASUS 27 in that I tried so far but I am very very","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":106.24,"end_s":111.399,"text":"excited to see this one so what the heck","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":109.439,"end_s":117.6,"text":"is this Ben Q gaming is in the details it's","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":114.799,"end_s":121.32,"text":"a dust cover that is certainly a detail I've never seen a dust cover included","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":119.439,"end_s":127.64,"text":"with a monitor before okay we've got the uh base","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":125.039,"end_s":133.8,"text":"station it's right here so that goes in there fairly solid looking pieces so far","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":131.08,"end_s":139.84,"text":"we've got ah this is cool so this is called the s switch so the s switch is","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":137.2,"end_s":143.92,"text":"for navigating between a few different profiles so what you can do is you can","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":142.04,"end_s":148.68,"text":"throw a couple of different profiles on the monitor with respect to you know","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":145.879,"end_s":153.239,"text":"your brightness your contrast uh however you want to have it set up","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":151.36,"end_s":158.239,"text":"and then you can use that switch instead of navigating through the clumsy on","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":155.92,"end_s":160.84,"text":"screen menus you can use this switch to quickly switch between your different","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":159.64,"end_s":166.84,"text":"profiles so if you have a certain profile that's good for one kind of game but not as good for another kind you can","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":163.959,"end_s":170.159,"text":"switch to it like that and then uh you can store up to three profiles another","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":168.8,"end_s":174.56,"text":"thing that's kind of cool about it as well is the fact that you can download","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":172.56,"end_s":177.76,"text":"uh professional gamer profiles I shouldn't say professional Gamers they","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":175.76,"end_s":181.84,"text":"are professional Gamers so Heaton and spawn in particular have profiles you","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":179.599,"end_s":186.2,"text":"can download and you can use their exact settings and yeah we've got some","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":185.0,"end_s":191.48,"text":"distractions here so let me get these all kind of unwrapped and I'll get the monitor assembled we'll have a closer","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":189.12,"end_s":194.799,"text":"look at it so before I mount the monitor onto the stand I just want to have a","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":193.08,"end_s":200.36,"text":"quick look at what we've got included in terms of inputs so we've got a very wide","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":197.48,"end_s":204.0,"text":"variety including DisplayPort VGA DVI you're going to want to use this one for","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":201.72,"end_s":210.0,"text":"3D predominantly although I guess DisplayPort might also will it also","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":205.959,"end_s":212.48,"text":"work for 120 HZ uh two hdmis a USB for","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":210.0,"end_s":216.64,"text":"the built-in Hub and then a USB port that you could plug something into and","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":213.959,"end_s":221.84,"text":"this guy is for that s switch which was the thing for there's your power for","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":218.92,"end_s":224.599,"text":"quickly changing profiles so we're going to go ahead and mount this on here I","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":223.48,"end_s":228.76,"text":"also want to talk about some of the other unique features of this monitor","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":227.0,"end_s":232.72,"text":"before we actually fire it up because I'm really excited to test this one out","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":231.319,"end_s":237.799,"text":"uh so some of the other unique features are they're all new black equalizer so","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":235.36,"end_s":242.92,"text":"uh BenQ has added some image processing to this monitor that you know how a lot","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":241.28,"end_s":246.4,"text":"of the time whenever you have a shadow in a game you're almost tempted to turn","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":244.439,"end_s":249.879,"text":"Shadows off because anything with any kind of shade that the Shadows aren't","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":248.48,"end_s":254.48,"text":"soft enough so you lose all of the detail in there so Ben Q has according","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":252.68,"end_s":259.32,"text":"to what they're saying made it so that Shadows are going to lose less of the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":256.84,"end_s":263.32,"text":"details but black will still be black because a lot of the time the only way","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":260.68,"end_s":267.68,"text":"to combat that is by turning gamma way up which means you lose a lot of the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":265.16,"end_s":272.039,"text":"color Fidelity so you're either losing image Fidelity or you're losing color","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":269.44,"end_s":280.039,"text":"Fidel Fidelity one way or the other uh this is also an interesting one","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":275.36,"end_s":283.24,"text":"so display mode 17in 19in 19in wide 21.5","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":280.039,"end_s":286.24,"text":"in wide 22 wide and 23 wide I don't","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":283.24,"end_s":288.8,"text":"understand the point so you guys please","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":286.24,"end_s":295.16,"text":"post in the comments if you understand why you would want to quickly be able to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":292.199,"end_s":300.72,"text":"uh virtualize a smaller monitor than the one that you actually purchased um","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":298.12,"end_s":304.6,"text":"please let me know uh why you would want to do that it includes smart scaling for","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":302.919,"end_s":308.6,"text":"fine-tuning these different picture sizes I mean the one scenario I can","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":307.32,"end_s":312.8,"text":"think of or it might make sense of something like Starcraft 1 where there's","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":310.8,"end_s":315.88,"text":"only one resolution that it really looks good at and otherwise it's going to look","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":314.28,"end_s":321.199,"text":"stupid so you might want to quickly scale your monitor to be a a 19in for","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":318.919,"end_s":323.8,"text":"example you know to play Starcraft 1 but that's the only scenario I can think of","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":322.68,"end_s":327.84,"text":"let me know if you can think of something else um in terms of included","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":326.199,"end_s":333.24,"text":"accessories and peripherals we've got a DVI cable a VGA cable a USB cable for","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":331.319,"end_s":337.199,"text":"the built-in Hub we've got a power connector and then let's go ahead and","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":334.84,"end_s":339.72,"text":"get this hooked up here so let's have a look at the overall aesthetic of the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":338.479,"end_s":345.919,"text":"monitor before we get into the performance there's some pretty cool things for example the onscreen display","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":343.6,"end_s":351.319,"text":"is probably the smartest and easiest to navigate one that I've yet encountered","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":348.08,"end_s":353.24,"text":"you just use these touch buttons here","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":351.319,"end_s":358.8,"text":"you go and see it gives you a little context dependent menu so that's back uh","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":356.12,"end_s":364.919,"text":"you might want to go picture mod oh oh right we need to do that","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":362.24,"end_s":368.8,"text":"yes oh I'm in 3D so it's not letting me okay it's not letting me navigate right","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":366.16,"end_s":372.039,"text":"now but it's very intuitive see how uh depending on the context the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":370.039,"end_s":377.16,"text":"functionality of the buttons changes all touch sensitive and very easy to use you","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":374.44,"end_s":382.84,"text":"can also however use this guy right here to scroll between things and that makes","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":379.96,"end_s":388.319,"text":"life once again even a little bit easier so we're going to just exit out of that","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":385.0,"end_s":390.199,"text":"um so industrial design I mean Ben Q on","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":388.319,"end_s":394.319,"text":"the 2410 I thought they did a great job on this one they've done pretty much","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":391.68,"end_s":399.919,"text":"exactly the same job nice thin bezel very thin monitor remember guys this is","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":396.039,"end_s":403.8,"text":"Led backlit so actually I'm fairly sure","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":399.919,"end_s":406.24,"text":"it's LED back lit hold on yeah it's LED","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":403.8,"end_s":413.44,"text":"back lit so that means that you've got um better power consumption in addition","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":409.96,"end_s":415.28,"text":"to uh actually surprisingly good backl","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":413.44,"end_s":419.039,"text":"bleed uh check this out it comes with a headphone whoops a headphone hanger on","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":417.479,"end_s":425.879,"text":"the back so you can hang up your headphones behind your monitor if you're not using them um yeah there's no oh oh","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":424.599,"end_s":429.319,"text":"look there is there's swivel there's height","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":430.96,"end_s":437.759,"text":"adjust there's","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":434.199,"end_s":439.039,"text":"tilt and no you don't have any pivot so","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":437.759,"end_s":442.759,"text":"it's got pretty much your basic functionality now I want to talk about","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":441.08,"end_s":447.919,"text":"the monitor itself so it does use a matte screen which uh many of you do","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":445.56,"end_s":453.4,"text":"find preferable personally I find that to be very preferable and and in terms","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":450.16,"end_s":456.759,"text":"of the 3D performance it is outstanding","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":453.4,"end_s":458.4,"text":"so you see how bright areas like this","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":456.759,"end_s":461.16,"text":"look the part of that is because of light boost technology so as soon as I","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":460.08,"end_s":466.919,"text":"look through I wonder if you look through the GL yeah so if you look through the glasses you'll see more like","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":464.56,"end_s":471.36,"text":"the brightness that I'm seeing which is significantly brighter than actually you","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":469.599,"end_s":475.4,"text":"know what I bet you can also see if you look through the glasses so that's","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":473.0,"end_s":478.479,"text":"significantly brighter than 3D Vision V1 I actually want you here let's get a","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":476.56,"end_s":481.759,"text":"little bit closer and let's look at our character here so I want you guys to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":480.24,"end_s":486.639,"text":"look for any separation or or I want you to look for","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":484.199,"end_s":489.84,"text":"any ghosting of the Right image you're looking through the left ey right now","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":488.159,"end_s":493.919,"text":"and I'm willing to bet you can find almost none and I call it ghosting but","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":491.919,"end_s":500.08,"text":"that's more colloquial uh what I really mean is cross talk or crossover so what","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":497.72,"end_s":504.319,"text":"light boost has done in addition to dramatically increasing the brightness","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":502.199,"end_s":509.56,"text":"is it has given significantly less uh noise between one","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":507.919,"end_s":514.64,"text":"image the image you're supposed to be seeing and the image that you do see or","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":512.76,"end_s":519.839,"text":"rather the imagees because that's how it's been a lot of the time in the past","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":517.039,"end_s":525.56,"text":"for me anyway um so in something like try 2 which is absolutely beautiful in","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":522.519,"end_s":527.68,"text":"3D I can play for an extended period of","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":525.56,"end_s":532.279,"text":"time on 3D Vision 2 I know because I've done it in the past however with 3D","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":529.92,"end_s":538.519,"text":"Vision 1 I get a headache after about 15 minutes it used to be on 3D Vision one I","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":535.0,"end_s":540.48,"text":"would do just fine with a DLP projector","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":538.519,"end_s":545.04,"text":"but as soon as I went over to an LCD because of the uh the stereo cross talk","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":543.079,"end_s":549.6,"text":"seeing the left image in my right eye and vice versa I I just wasn't able to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":547.68,"end_s":552.64,"text":"really use it past a little while like it's cool and it's fun and it's great","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":551.24,"end_s":556.959,"text":"but it would give me a headache after a while so remember guys light boost is","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":554.48,"end_s":560.12,"text":"compatible with 3D Vision V1 glasses looks exactly the same through the V","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":558.8,"end_s":565.16,"text":"actually I should double check that let's see if it looks exactly the same yeah looks exactly the same through the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":562.92,"end_s":568.92,"text":"V1 glasses as it does through the V2s the benefit of the V2 glasses is that","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":566.92,"end_s":574.76,"text":"they do have the bigger frames so you are less likely to see sort of you know","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":571.68,"end_s":575.76,"text":"black cut off instead of just the screen","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":574.76,"end_s":580.32,"text":"that you're looking at although personally I don't find the v1's that uh","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":578.399,"end_s":583.88,"text":"that bothersome I've never actually uh demoed them side by side like this","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":581.839,"end_s":589.399,"text":"before so I think that pretty much covers it thank you for checking out my","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":586.12,"end_s":592.64,"text":"overview of the BenQ 2420 so far out of","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":589.399,"end_s":595.8,"text":"the light I'd","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":595.8,"end_s":603.079,"text":"say a worthy competitor I don't think I can necessarily declare it to be the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":600.12,"end_s":607.36,"text":"winner because unlike the 2410 which was obviously better than its competition","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":605.2,"end_s":613.72,"text":"which had things like glossy screens sort of critical design design you know","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":610.56,"end_s":616.44,"text":"errors and judgment in my opinion um the","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":613.72,"end_s":621.24,"text":"the ASUS 27 in that I've tried already is very good as well so right now","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":619.16,"end_s":625.959,"text":"without trying them side by side I'd say it's about a for all intents and","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":623.6,"end_s":629.2,"text":"purposes equal both of them provide an excellent gaming experience with very","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":627.72,"end_s":637.44,"text":"little stereo cross talk so it's going to to come down to whether you want a 24 in or a 27 in between those two right","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":633.12,"end_s":641.12,"text":"now like all 3D ready 120 HZ monitors","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":637.44,"end_s":644.0,"text":"you do have less overall color depth uh","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":641.12,"end_s":648.76,"text":"available to you because there is less processing going on with the image so","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":645.959,"end_s":651.92,"text":"what that means is that okay I'm not going to be able to","speaker":null,"is_sponsor":0},{"start_s":650.56,"end_s":656.12,"text":"get back to the Windows desktop it means you're going to have less Rich possible you already know that the BenQ 2410 T was actually my favorite first generation 3D monitor that is by first generation I don't mean first generation cuz the first generation was that vonic one and that Samsung one both of which were 22 in which is not big enough and not highr enough uh for a proper gaming experience these days but by first generation I mean that went with the NVIDIA 3D Vision V1 glasses now I am very excited in that case today to have a look at the BenQ 2420t so this is the successor to the 2410 T and what it does is it brings a couple of wow it's really light a couple of interesting new features into the mix and the biggest one of those is of course light boost so it is fully compatible with NVIDIA's light boost technology which basically modulates the backlight of the LCD oh okay I think I opened it up upside down you can clearly see all the accessories here were uh piled in such a way as they would be easily taken out so why don't we go one by one uh what it does is it modulates the back light in order to create better separation between the left and the right image and also to reduce the amount of eye fatigue and finally last but not least to boost the amount of light that makes it to your eye uh it worked quite well on the ASUS 27 in that I tried so far but I am very very excited to see this one so what the heck is this Ben Q gaming is in the details it's a dust cover that is certainly a detail I've never seen a dust cover included with a monitor before okay we've got the uh base station it's right here so that goes in there fairly solid looking pieces so far we've got ah this is cool so this is called the s switch so the s switch is for navigating between a few different profiles so what you can do is you can throw a couple of different profiles on the monitor with respect to you know your brightness your contrast uh however you want to have it set up and then you can use that switch instead of navigating through the clumsy on screen menus you can use this switch to quickly switch between your different profiles so if you have a certain profile that's good for one kind of game but not as good for another kind you can switch to it like that and then uh you can store up to three profiles another thing that's kind of cool about it as well is the fact that you can download uh professional gamer profiles I shouldn't say professional Gamers they are professional Gamers so Heaton and spawn in particular have profiles you can download and you can use their exact settings and yeah we've got some distractions here so let me get these all kind of unwrapped and I'll get the monitor assembled we'll have a closer look at it so before I mount the monitor onto the stand I just want to have a quick look at what we've got included in terms of inputs so we've got a very wide variety including DisplayPort VGA DVI you're going to want to use this one for 3D predominantly although I guess DisplayPort might also will it also work for 120 HZ uh two hdmis a USB for the built-in Hub and then a USB port that you could plug something into and this guy is for that s switch which was the thing for there's your power for quickly changing profiles so we're going to go ahead and mount this on here I also want to talk about some of the other unique features of this monitor before we actually fire it up because I'm really excited to test this one out uh so some of the other unique features are they're all new black equalizer so uh BenQ has added some image processing to this monitor that you know how a lot of the time whenever you have a shadow in a game you're almost tempted to turn Shadows off because anything with any kind of shade that the Shadows aren't soft enough so you lose all of the detail in there so Ben Q has according to what they're saying made it so that Shadows are going to lose less of the details but black will still be black because a lot of the time the only way to combat that is by turning gamma way up which means you lose a lot of the color Fidelity so you're either losing image Fidelity or you're losing color Fidel Fidelity one way or the other uh this is also an interesting one so display mode 17in 19in 19in wide 21.5 in wide 22 wide and 23 wide I don't understand the point so you guys please post in the comments if you understand why you would want to quickly be able to uh virtualize a smaller monitor than the one that you actually purchased um please let me know uh why you would want to do that it includes smart scaling for fine-tuning these different picture sizes I mean the one scenario I can think of or it might make sense of something like Starcraft 1 where there's only one resolution that it really looks good at and otherwise it's going to look stupid so you might want to quickly scale your monitor to be a a 19in for example you know to play Starcraft 1 but that's the only scenario I can think of let me know if you can think of something else um in terms of included accessories and peripherals we've got a DVI cable a VGA cable a USB cable for the built-in Hub we've got a power connector and then let's go ahead and get this hooked up here so let's have a look at the overall aesthetic of the monitor before we get into the performance there's some pretty cool things for example the onscreen display is probably the smartest and easiest to navigate one that I've yet encountered you just use these touch buttons here you go and see it gives you a little context dependent menu so that's back uh you might want to go picture mod oh oh right we need to do that yes oh I'm in 3D so it's not letting me okay it's not letting me navigate right now but it's very intuitive see how uh depending on the context the functionality of the buttons changes all touch sensitive and very easy to use you can also however use this guy right here to scroll between things and that makes life once again even a little bit easier so we're going to just exit out of that um so industrial design I mean Ben Q on the 2410 I thought they did a great job on this one they've done pretty much exactly the same job nice thin bezel very thin monitor remember guys this is Led backlit so actually I'm fairly sure it's LED back lit hold on yeah it's LED back lit so that means that you've got um better power consumption in addition to uh actually surprisingly good backl bleed uh check this out it comes with a headphone whoops a headphone hanger on the back so you can hang up your headphones behind your monitor if you're not using them um yeah there's no oh oh look there is there's swivel there's height adjust there's tilt and no you don't have any pivot so it's got pretty much your basic functionality now I want to talk about the monitor itself so it does use a matte screen which uh many of you do find preferable personally I find that to be very preferable and and in terms of the 3D performance it is outstanding so you see how bright areas like this look the part of that is because of light boost technology so as soon as I look through I wonder if you look through the GL yeah so if you look through the glasses you'll see more like the brightness that I'm seeing which is significantly brighter than actually you know what I bet you can also see if you look through the glasses so that's significantly brighter than 3D Vision V1 I actually want you here let's get a little bit closer and let's look at our character here so I want you guys to look for any separation or or I want you to look for any ghosting of the Right image you're looking through the left ey right now and I'm willing to bet you can find almost none and I call it ghosting but that's more colloquial uh what I really mean is cross talk or crossover so what light boost has done in addition to dramatically increasing the brightness is it has given significantly less uh noise between one image the image you're supposed to be seeing and the image that you do see or rather the imagees because that's how it's been a lot of the time in the past for me anyway um so in something like try 2 which is absolutely beautiful in 3D I can play for an extended period of time on 3D Vision 2 I know because I've done it in the past however with 3D Vision 1 I get a headache after about 15 minutes it used to be on 3D Vision one I would do just fine with a DLP projector but as soon as I went over to an LCD because of the uh the stereo cross talk seeing the left image in my right eye and vice versa I I just wasn't able to really use it past a little while like it's cool and it's fun and it's great but it would give me a headache after a while so remember guys light boost is compatible with 3D Vision V1 glasses looks exactly the same through the V actually I should double check that let's see if it looks exactly the same yeah looks exactly the same through the V1 glasses as it does through the V2s the benefit of the V2 glasses is that they do have the bigger frames so you are less likely to see sort of you know black cut off instead of just the screen that you're looking at although personally I don't find the v1's that uh that bothersome I've never actually uh demoed them side by side like this before so I think that pretty much covers it thank you for checking out my overview of the BenQ 2420 so far out of the light boost compatible 3D Vision 2 ready monitors that I've tried it is I'd say a worthy competitor I don't think I can necessarily declare it to be the winner because unlike the 2410 which was obviously better than its competition which had things like glossy screens sort of critical design design you know errors and judgment in my opinion um the the ASUS 27 in that I've tried already is very good as well so right now without trying them side by side I'd say it's about a for all intents and purposes equal both of them provide an excellent gaming experience with very little stereo cross talk so it's going to to come down to whether you want a 24 in or a 27 in between those two right now like all 3D ready 120 HZ monitors you do have less overall color depth uh available to you because there is less processing going on with the image so what that means is that okay I'm not going to be able to get back to the Windows desktop it means you're going to have less Rich cders overall this is a byproduct of trying to make such a fast panel with such quickly switching pixels so you have to decide do you want the Lightning Fast gaming performance do you want 120 HZ remember 120 HZ is a benefit whether you're running 3D or not because you do have a smoother overall experience or do you prefer Rich colors in which case you're going to want to go with an IPS or a VA or a PLS type panel so thank you for checking out this
