I mean, just last week, I had someone text me, \"Happy birthday.\" One of the options to respond to them was, \"Happy birthday.\" You're guessing they're my twin. However, the new Tensor G5 processor in the Google Pixel 10 along with some of their onboard, that's right, locally processed AI features actually looks pretty compelling. I'm talking prompting you with stuff that you might find useful or interesting. Okay, that we've been promised before, but on device and more interestingly, live translation of phone calls processed on device in the natural voice of the caller. Okay, now you've got my attention. Inside the eco-friendly packaging, you find a whole lot of not much. A SIM removal tool, a little bit of documentation. Remember when they used to have audio adapters and power bricks, phone cases, stickers? Of course, that's not what you were here for. You were here for the Pixel 10. And wow, it's a Pixel. On the back, we're greeted with our very first three camera design for the regular nonpro. Beep beep beep. I have cameras. They don't have the same resolution as the Pro model. We're looking at a 48 megapixel wide, a 13 megapixel ultrawide, and a 10.8 8 megap 5x telephoto lens. But what's refreshing is that that is pretty much the biggest difference going from the nonpro to the Pro. It has the same allnew Tensor G5 chip as the Pro model with the main difference from a performance standpoint being that it has 12 gigs of RAM rather than 16 gigs of RAM and is only available with a 128 or 256 gig storage configuration. On the outside, you've got three microphones that help with noise cancellation. A SIM slot. US customers won't have the tray, though. It's eim only down there. Got one of those mics and the SIM on the top. On the left, whole lot of nothing. On the bottom, USB type-C charging port that supports fast charging up to 30 watts. And then on the right, your volume rocker as well as a lock button. Oh, and I missed a couple things on the back. The dedicated flash with no temperature sensor. That's a proton only feature as well as wireless charging with the new Chi 2 standard which features not only up to 15 watts of charging power but like Apple MagSafe alignment magnets. In fact, I've got a charger Google sent over and we can have a look at how it snaps into place with the Pixel Snap charger. Hello. Ah, wow. What a great value. It includes a wireless charger and an IQ test. I'm failing. Oh, that's unfortunate. Non-detachable power cord. Nice little weighted base though. You ready, folks? This is it. This is a big moment. Wow. It's like iPhone. Is it quite like iPhone? Ah, it's all right. Here's an iPhone. Mhm. Like, is it just that this Moment accessory has stronger? Oh, it is. Okay. All right. That was going to be pretty embarrassing. Of course, magnetic performance isn't the only performance that we want to know about. Hello there. I'm John Labs, and I'm here to give you mixed news about the Pixel 10. Compared to last year's phones, the Pixel 10 was able to increase its benchmarking speeds by 30% in single core performance and nearly 40% in multi-core performance, which means daily tasks when using your phone will feel mighty zippy if you're coming from an older Pixel. But in GPU performance, the Pixel 10 actually performs a little bit worse with it only achieving 93% of the score the Pixel 9 was able to get. Odd. Unfortunately, when compared with another recently released phone like the S25 Edge, things fall apart with the Pixel 10 only achieving 87% of the single core performance, 65% of the multi-core performance, and only 55% of the GPU performance with the S25 Edge in its light performance mode. In stress tests, things are even more middling with the Pixel 10 hitting its peak performance with a 24% increase in score compared to the Pixel 9 series, but only a 5% increase in average performance overall. And again, when compared to the S25 Edge, it only hits 63% of its score. Ouch. Thanks, guys. Now, before we start poking around in the software, firing up the camera, listening to Crab Rave, all that good stuff, there is one more performance conversation that I wanted to have. In fact, I was so confused by this that I had to check the spec sheet twice. Instead of keeping Wi-Fi 7 like we had in the last generation Pixel 9 family, Google's gone back to Wi-Fi 6E, which to be clear, I don't think is a huge deal in terms of performance. I mean, I'm not downloading Linux ISOs on my phone. It's just not something that I recall ever seeing before. And Bluetooth at the same time is getting a big upgrade from Bluetooth 5.3 with the Pixel 9 to Bluetooth 6.0, to which offers better security as well as much better location tracking, which is a big deal because I don't know about you guys, but for me, Apple's Find My Network for device tracking is kind of a big deal. Now, let's poke around. Yeah, it's a almost as smooth as I would expect from a 60 >> to 120 Hz display. Nice to at least have a high refresh rate display on your non-pro device, Apple. and I will open up the camera. But first, I got to tell you about our sponsor, Dbrand, who's showing off their grip case, a customizable phone case that can be kitted out with any of the overpriced tape that Dbrand sells, like this white Damascus, which I currently happen to also have installed on my car. They're trying to troll me with it, and I'm just like, dude, what are you even talking about? This looks amazing. Installation of the Grip Case is so easy that anyone can do it. You just do that and then boom, no more hideous camera bump. Wow. And there's more to love about it. The grip case is, as advertised, extremely grippy and extremely rugged, helping to protect your device from incidental drops and bumps. And the best part is if you want full body protection, you can save 15% by bundling the grip case with one of DBR's Prism screen protectors. The Prism comes with this super cool installation tray that guarantees a flawless application every time. And each order includes two screen protectors just in case you can't read instructions. If you want to take advantage of this bundle deal, just head over to I am very short.com. All right, there's a few things it wants me to enable in the camera. Motion photos. So that's the little snippet of motion. This was actually kind of a big deal for my wife. She loved it about the iPhone. So, it's cool to see Samsung and Google having those features enabled on their phones, as well as top shot, which takes a few shots when you got a bunch of people in the shot. And then auto best take, which takes the best one of those top shots. There's lots of other camera features, including ones that use AI both in the cloud as well as locally to do things like coaching you to find the best angle and lighting as well as taking a picture and being in it, too. As always, my expectations of the camera are extremely high. I mean, it might not be the pro, but it is a Pixel. Processing, excellent. Dynamic range, excellent. I mean, look at how well it handles the studio light and the dark background. Resolution, not amazing, but hey, if you don't like that, maybe you should have bought a Pro. Let's see how she does with the telephoto lens. Wow, Google, like pretty much everyone. It's kind of struggling with color in this environment. When adequately lit, it's a lot better. But again, not the resolution of the Pro. Hey, Reys, want to be in a picture with me? >> Boy, do I. >> Stand uh more that way. >> Now, you have to align the photo or align the frame and do the thing. >> I hate this. Okay. Okay. You know what? There's a couple little things that I can notice about this. One is that it wasn't quite sure what to do with the changing colors of the RGB lighting that we had behind us. So, it got a little confused there. Also, I definitely have my hand on Reese's junk. I'm not 100% sure if this is quite to size scale. >> Scale is perfect. >> You think so? You think so? But hey, we're both in the picture. If I was just looking at it real quick styles, I think I'd think I'd probably mostly believe it. Does it have Android jutdder when you pan? It looks like it. Oh, this is a nice little feature I've been enjoying lately on my Android phones. Even when you have the portrait lock enabled, if it detects that you're watching video, it'll give you a little, \"Hey, would you like to rotate it?\" When you do that, yes, I would. Apple might have it, too. I literally don't know, but I do like that. Why is nothing as good as an iPhone? But overall, this is pretty decent given what a challenging situation this is. They've found a really good balance of maintaining stability, but also allowing the camera to pan rather than kind of trying to lock it on and then going, \"Oh, oh, shoot. We're moving.\" Actually, not bad. How's the selfie camera, though? 10 1/2 megapixels. Is that enough megapixels? The answer is yes. That's as close as I need to get to my wrinkles. Good job, Google. Oh, yeah. It's pretty wide, too. You could fit all kinds of other people in there. Like if you had friends. I don't, but you might. Let's fire up some YouTube that I have. Amplified earpiece. And already very full rich sound. Tier 1 mobile devices have truly gotten remarkable in terms of their audio quality. Like why do people buy Bluetooth speakers anymore? Did I say tier one? I meant tier 2.9. Maybe the Bluetooth speaker manufacturers are safe for now. I'm watching this before the Labs team has actually had a chance to measure the display. But what I do know is that Google claims 2,000 nits of brightness in HDR and 3,000 nits peak brightness using auto brightness outside of video playback, which is very good, very modern, and looks fantastic under their Victus 2 glass cover. Let's have a look at how the lab's results came in. Hello again. When it comes to screens, Google clearly likes to flex as we were regularly able to surpass their claimed peak brightness with us measuring a peak luminance of 3,49 nits in HDR, which is 29% brighter than last year's Pixel 9. Sheesh. Don't worry if you're not into that new fangled HDR technology, you'll still see 3,32 nits in SDR, which is a 20% increase over the Pixel 9. Both of these results also totally trounce the S25 Edge, if you're wondering. So, if you only watch videos outside in the sun, maybe this phone's for you. When it comes to battery life, the Pixel 10 was able to get 17 and 12 hours of battery life, which sounds like plenty, but is actually an hour and a half less than last year's phone and is not really competitive with phones like the S25 Edge, which is much thinner. And that's all for me. Now, it's time to talk about AI. Obviously, there's the incloud AI features. You've got an Ask Gemini button right front and center on the home screen. Seriously? Oh, it's for ShortCircuit. AI really is getting smart. Anyway, the point is it's packed full of AI features that Google's shown already, like their theft detection, as well as their ability to detect suspicious calls and text. But one of the ones that I am most interested in is the new live translation feature that apparently happens on device. Are we able to like try that? >> Hello. >> Is that really how you say hello in Japanese? Hello. Use live translate. Live translate. This is what I hate about features that are supposed to work automatically. >> What's the point of this damn thing? >> As for Magic Q, unless I'm daily driving the phone, I don't really see how it's going to do anything useful. It's supposed to do stuff like what? When a friend texts asking the location for dinner, it's supposed to like surface the answer and share it with a tab. Well, that sounds like the subject of another less unboxing video. For now, it starts at $800 and you guys can check it out at the link down below. Make sure you subscribe to ShortCircuit."}
